Not sure if it is just the winter blues but I've gotten so down lately. It really hit me tonight that I still have so much weigh to lose. I'm 10 months out and down about 53 lbs. I need to lose another 45-47 lbs. I'm only 5'2" so 180 lbs. on my frame is still a lot of weight to carry. The Wii reminds me every day that I weigh in that I'm still obese. I want to kill that littler f**ker every time is says in it's little sing-song voice "You're Obese!"

Well, I've been doing kickboxing and Zumba after work a few nights a week. My employer brings in a fitness company which is great. Well, since this is a new venture they haven't been fully equipped for the turnout the employees have given. Tonight I went to class and they put mirrors up in the workout room. It was really depressing for me to see that I'm still so overweight. I can't wait until I can look in a mirror and feel like I'm a normal weight.

Try not to let it get you down, as it has been said many times before it took a while to add it all on and to do it right it will take time to take it off. Number one you are healthier and I bet you are looking great! 53lbs is a lot, and you should be proud not disappointed. Crystal

I too get frustrated at the 'big picture'. My goal has been set at 170, which at 5'6" is still overweight. To lose 100+ and still be borderline obese kills me. But then I think 170 is better than 270 and already feel so much better between the dropped 30 and I quit smoking. It is a long road and we will have our emotional ups and downs along with the scale. Hang in there! I would kill that little f..er voice too. LOL

look at your amazing weightloss!

Thats fantastic!

Just imagine what looking in that mirror 58lbs ago would have been like! and know that all your effort has given you 58lbs less weight and will continue to help you get to your normal weight.

You can do this! it is not a hopeless venture it is one with a big big light at the end of the tunnel that will be worth all of this...

I hate that little wii fit balance board... But cant wait for that line to start dropping.

best of luck in the future and congratulations on your success

Lisa, you're doing great and have so much to be proud of! Please know that you're not alone, I think we all feel this way sometimes. I'm 100 pounds down, and yet still in the "obese" category, with 40 more to lose, and have been stuck at a plateau for two months. I do bikram yoga every day, and the front wall is floor to ceiling windows. I'm always one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) women in the class, and it's so hard not to compare myself to those around me. That's when it's so important to remind myself where I was a year ago, and how far I've come. No one else in the room may know what I looked like before the band, but I KNOW. We have to remember to Celebrate our victories, not measure them against others. (Easier said than done, I know! But I keep trying to remember! ;-)

You've had wonderful success up to this point, and with all your hard work, you'll surely continue to do so.

I am 4'll and started at 217. I can relate to your frustration. However, I would try to be less judgemental about your body. Loosing 58 pounds must have made quite a change! My psyc. involved as part of the bariatric support team told me to take a pic. of myself once a month. I do it in a bathing suite. I could see a deffinate improvement in a months time. The key is to not look at the pictures with judgement. The idea is to look and let your brain tune into the change in your body. Also, focus on loosing inches and/or how your clothes have become too big. You are doing great!

Thanks everyone. It's still hard. I had Zumba tonight and I think part of the problem and why I don't see any weight loss when I look in those mirrors is because I'm wearing work out clothes that are like 3 sizes too big for me. My shorts are 18/20 and I'm wearing size 14 jeans now and my t-shirt is a 2x large and I'm wearing a large top now. So I think the baggy, big clothes make it seem worse. I heard of another lady who said she felt like she shrunk 5 inches and gained 10 lbs with the mirrors. I swear they are like Fun House mirrors and not very flattering. I'm going to try and buy some new work out clothes this weekend and see if that makes any difference. I'm not trying to fish for compliments on my weight loss -- it really, truly depressed me deeply last night. I'm still not quite out of that funk but I do think the winter blues and the fact that my weight just moves so slow is depressing me. Thanks for everyone who thought I lost 58 lbs. It's actually 53 lbs. I wish I could knock off those other 5 so that I could actually say 58 lbs gone.

53 or 58 - it's still over half of what you need to lose! You're halfway there and definitely get some smaller clothes, you will really see the difference! Hang in there!

My Wii actually says "ouch", or something that sounds like it, when I step on it. I also hate that my Mii starts out thin and then fattens as the bar goes to the top of the BMI bar. That little dude is just cruel.

Lisa, you are doing so great! And, you're losing at about the same rate as I have. Slow and steady wins the race -- and it's great that you're getting in so much good exercise!

Don't worry about the mirrors. I am sure that you are already looking at a new and improved version of yourself, and that you're just getting better every time!

P.S. OK to smash the Wii . . that would make me crazy!!

Catherine

I hate that little sing song voice of wii saying "you're obese" and the mii gets fatter, but honestly....I've been doing it steadily and it's nice to see the BMI going down, and the weight coming down... 53 pounds is awesome. I can't wait to get there!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
