Thats awesome for everybody. I am having a few non scale victories when putting on clothes that I havent worn in 2 years... Yay!!! I think you would say I have restriction, I can eat but when it comes to meats and such I have to really REALLY chew or it gets stuck.. Fish and stuff goes down fine but ugh chicken my FAVORITE is my newest enemy. I havent really been exercising.. I know bad me. But I just finished my evil friend of the month and during this time I dont like working out cause I just feel UGH. So tomorrow I will start up again and hit it hard core. Trying to be under 180 in 2 weeks for my next fill/weighin appointment! Love feeling decent in a bathing suit:thumbup:

Hi all, it's been a while since I posted on this thread.

I went back a couple of pages and it look like everyone is doing great.

I'm down 34 pounds since my surgery and going for fill #3 on Wednesday.

The NSVs are adding up. I can actually wrap a large towel around my waste and do that tuck thing. I flew coach last week without needing a seat belt extender.

I've been reading up on plastic surgery and figure I will be signing up for it by year's end.

At our support group last month they talked about body contortion and all of the actual possibilities of body contortioning surgery i.e. Tummy Tuck, lifts, or body tuck. and you have to watch out they want you to usually reach your goal and maintain that weight for 6 to 12 more months before they usually will approve the surgery. Most insurances they stated make u wait.

But on the up and up glad you are doing great. Im right up there with the weight loss since surgery.. I dont have a scale at home.. But my surgeon did my last fill and he was soooo proud of me and everything.

I go for fill #4 on july 1st and my next weigh in.

I found this thread a bit late, but my banding was done March 3, 2010. I've had two fills and am down 28 pounds as of this morning. My goal weight is 155, but what I'm really looking forward to right now is going under 200 pounds- 12.5 pounds away.

Sorry I haven't been posting. I think I'm in "Band denial". LOL! I go for my third fill in the morning and I am looking so forward to it. I still eat pretty much anything without any issues.

I was having a slight pain in my lower abdomen on the left-hand side. It only happens whenever I do a lot of movement or lifting. Anyone else ever have that? Its like a dull ache. I did read somewhere, where the tubing can "rub your muscles sometimes. I'm going to ask my doctor tomorrow but still have no idea.

For the past two weeks my weight has hovered at the same - plus or minus a pound or two. But, it is 10 lbs less than my last weigh-in with the doc. It's like I lose quickly right after the fill and then plateau until the next fill. I have 6.5 ccs in there right now. I don't want to end up too tight.

Congrats to everyone on their successes so far! I need to get a swift kick in my butt and get back in gear!

Yeah Ginger I've had that pain too. I went all last month with horrible pain on the lower left side. The odd thing is, one day it just disappeared?? Haven't had it since!! Now my new "pain" is port ache when my tummy growls?? Figure that one out??:smile2::biggrin: My weight is staying the same...up 2 or 3lbs...down 2 or 3lbs :smile2:. As long as I'm not gaining it'll be all good:thumbup:!!

I have the same thing on both sides as well as my skin in my back and chest feeling like it is being ripped from my body. I attribute the pain to my guts shifting around.

This is a self-diagnosis though. I will mention it to surgeon or PA tomorrow and get their opinion.

Hello All,

It has been quite awhile since anyone has posted hee, and wanted to know how everyone is doing.

It has been a little over 4 months since my surgery and I feel great. I am now down 61 pounds and steadily losing 2 pounds a week. This has been a life changing experience and I am so happy that I decided to have the band.

I walk 1-3 miles 4-5 days a week and have a great walking buddy who pushes me as much as I push her. I am down from a size 32 to a 24, and the sizes keep dropping.

I have 7cc in a 14cc band. Today I went to get my 4TH fill, and after speaking with the PA decided not to get one. I am not at full restriction, but am in a really good place both mentally and physically. I can eat one to one and a half cups of food per meel and do not snack at all in between. I am not hungry and can get my Protein in without having to use any type of drink suppliments. In other words - I eat like a "normal" person. I am not at the point where others are - only able to eat a quarter cup of food, getting stuck, pbing etc, but I am happy. I will get my next fill when I feel that I need some more help. Where are you all as far as restriction?

Lets keep this thread going for the long term.

Cynthia

I've lost almost 50 pounds since beginning the process. My 4th fill is on the 30th - right now I have 5.5cc in an 11cc band and can eat pretty much anything...in moderation. Every once and awhile I'll get stuck - fish seems to really get me. I don't see the scale moving as much as I'd like, but I'm down from a 3x over all to a Med/Large top and and 18-20 bottom. NSV's...I hauled my 5 year-old neice to the car after a day at the beach and her 45 pounds of dead weight brought my success home as did today's trip to the consignment shop to drop off some of my 3x career wear. The woman at the shop asked if I was dropping them off for someone and when I told her, "No - it's all mine" she commented that, "You must've have lost a ton of weight!".

Hi all. Yes, its been a while for me as to posting.....Its been a busy summer and while on vacation there was no online connection. Thank god for Blackberrys to keep in touch with everyone...but was not able to post.

Heres an update:

Doing really well. Its been 4 months and ive lost so far 50lbs, as of last week. Down to 165, another 20 to go till goal. Of course I can go to 140....maybe 135?? to far too even think about!! I should be between 135-145. Im happpy now!!

More Important then the actually weight loss...no more pills, (blood pressure, prevacid, cholesterol) no sleep apnea so no more CPAP. Im a happy camper...and doing the happy dance.

Ive read all the posts since my last post and see that everyone seems to be doing great!!!! All those who updated..it was nice to hear how you are all doing.

Ive had three fills so far....I go back next Thursday to discuss blood tests done this past week. We will know then what Vitamins and nutrients have diminished or needed. I seem to have developed some marks on legs arms and back and they look like little black and blue marks.....the PA suspects an Iron deficiency. But who knows. I feel great. Been taking all vitamins and Calcium etc etc.

Ive been exercizing daily at gym for cardio 45 to an hour. and have trainer twice weekly for strenght training. I hate both. lol but do it anyways.

Been out to Fire Island for vacation for two weeks...before that was busy with getting my daughter to camp. Ive been home for a week now..and just getting back into a routine. While in F.I. I exercized differently then the gym and well...cycling. swimming and walking was not nearly enough exercize but...it was what it was. I didnt loose or gain so cant complain I was warned that on vacation....well you can gain...but I was happy I didnt.

well.....thats my update.

have a great day. Its all about the spirituality more then anything else.

I enjoy all music but theres a special place in my soul for Jewish music. Not Israeli persay....

Jodi

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
