HOPING first fill will help...?????

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 7 weeks post op and I'm having my first fill on Monday. I have had some scale and some non scale victories in this time, but have stalled. I am hungry a LOT of the time (but, oddly, certain things DO really fill me up, as if I may have some restriction already?) and frustrated. I understand my doctor is pretty generous with fills, and I'm HOPING the first fill will help me. All I want to do is eat. I'm trying very hard to eat appropriate foods and portions, but it's hard doing the white-knuckle thing. Did your first fills help you? I didn't sign up for this! I didn't sign up for being starving all the time and still needing to "diet" but not losing! I would appreciate some words of comfort! Thanks.

Hello there! I was 4 weeks post op yesterday (1/8/10) I am scheduled to see my doc this Thursday the 14th. I understand what you mean regarding thinking about food and feeling a bit hungry. There are times when I definitley feel full and satiated, but it isn't all the time. I think my biggest hurdle is wanting to eat fast and take big bites like I used to. I think it is just hard to know what is "normal" at this point because it is all so new and very individual. I think we just have to praise ourselves for being brave enough to make the decision to be banded and follow through. It really is a one day at a time journey. I have found it fun to be more creative with food and try to find new and nutritious recipes and try them. Just be easy with yourself and enjoy those scale and non-scale victories; you are not alone. God Bless you!

I know what you mean! Any swelling post op must have subsided, because while I'm not super hungry in the mornings, by evening I'm starving. I've been following the 1000 calorie a day limit, and have been walking a half hour a day and for all my hard work I have GAINED two pounds. I need restriction and the 22nd can't come fast enough. I just hope it helps! Good luck to you!

I'm in the same boat, surgery was on December 23 and I want to eat, eat, eat. My stomach makes the most grumbling I've ever heard, but I'm bound and determined to make this work so I'm dieting, dieting and exercising!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
