Where is your port located and will it show after I lose all my weight?

Recommended Posts

OK so I was under the impression my port was gonna go more towards my side. But when I woke up after surgery it was like 2 or 3 inches above belly button and like another inch or so to my left.

I was like WTF....I mean I guess it doesn't matter. But I'm extremely motivated. I plan on sticking to my diet, working out, and being very fit. I do not want it to show through my skin.

Thank you!

Hi! Thank you for replying :blushing:

I don't mind the scars at all. And i don't care if people know I had the surgery. I just think it might look creepy! I guess its just me being weird about it...

It all depends on where your port is located and how much fat you have around it when you reach goal. I think if you get extremely thin, you might be able to see it, esp. if it's pretty much centered above your belly button. But the average bandster will not have a visible port. Most of ours are off the the side of the belly button and a little high.

Mine is below my left breast by about 3 inches.

Mine is on the right side, about 3 1/2 inches below my right breast. According to my doc, unless I get skeletal, I'll never see it when I'm standing up.

My Band is on the right side about 3 inches under my breast. When I lay on my back it shows. Only my three best friends know I had this done and the boyfriend I live with doesn't even know... I'm scared he will feel it when we make love.. Besides it showing when I am laying down, It kinda feels like a bruise and is tender when I am sitting... My Surgery was on 04Dec09... Will things get better? I see the surgeon tomorrow for my first fill and will report back what he thinks when I ask him these questions...

I really hope that the port does not show through the skin. I am planning on having single incesion lap band surgery. The surgery is done through your belly button. I hope to someday be able to wear a bikini again, so I really would not want the port to show; that is a bit weird.

Mine is on my left side, just below my ribs, directly under my nipple (if you were to draw a line from my nipple downwards to below my ribs). I can currently feel it if I put a little pressure on my side. I expect that once I lose a serious amount of weight, I will be able to see it, but I highly doubt I'll ever be in a bikini, unless I get some serious plastic surgery.

Also, from what I've read, there are low profile ports available, so it is possible once you've reached goal, your surgeon could replace your port with a low profile port so it won't be as noticable. I don't know if it would be completely invisible.

Mine's in about the same spot as yours.

It does show. But not badly. Luckily???? one of my few residual pockets of loose skin is on my upper belly, from pregnancy I'm guessing as i was never particularly fat there, and it does hide it somewhat, but its just a vague lump, it only stands out sharply if I put my arms over my head and stretch out. The scar has faded but is visible, the other four scars are invisible now. I feel more than comfortable putting on a bikini and showing my stomach, even though it shows, its not bad.

If I had a Tummy Tuck and lost that little bit of skin thoguh, it would be very visible. But to me, that's still better than the what I used to look like.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
