LOL, is someone taking an anatomy class? AP201?

oh, now I see, It's a feminist course

Actually it's from Psychology of Women, Sociology of Women, and the Social Construction of Sex (among many other relevant courses I've taken). They are mostly 500-600 level courses, god knows I haven't taken an introductory 200 level course in years!

Nonviolent Studies aims to combat:

Domestic Violence (for ALL PEOPLE)

Stalking

Violence in Schools (school shootings, bullying, etc.)

Discrimination (based on race or ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, etc.)

and Sexual Abuse (for children as well as adults)

And yes, Nonviolent Studies are also feminist because feminists believe that ALL PEOPLE (young, old, men, women, intersexed, gays, lesbians, *I could go on forever) have a basic human right to feel safe and free from harm.

That sounds like an amazing program! It should be mandatory for everyone, freshman year!

I'd love to know what your intention was to provide an "other" category in the poll. Were you being facetious or genuinely being considerate?

i pretty much took the inclusion of "something else" title as facetious/immature. he would have worded it differently if he was genuinely interested in those who are transgendered.

I guess the answer is D, All of the above.

Both reasons you gave and I wanted to give an outlet for those that wanted to be counted but didn't feel like answering honestly.

I don't think I have to genuinely care to be courteous, do I?

MOTG,

Please refrain from using the term immature when describing me or my actions. I am a 45 year old man. I am way past the point of immature.

Below is a list of acceptable terms:

abusive, bad-mannered, barbaric, barbarous, blunt, boorish, brusque, brutish, cheeky, churlish, coarse, crude, curt, discourteous, graceless, gross, gruff, ignorant, impertinent, impolite, impudent, inconsiderate, insolent, insulting, loutish, low, obscene, offhand, peremptory, raw, savage, scurrilous, surly, uncivilized, uncouth, uncultured, ungracious, unmannerly, unpolished, unrefined, vulgar, wild

I must admit, I had a good chuckle to myself at work today after reading this thread this morning.

Oh so many replys came to mind!

btrieger, I'm glad you are enjoying it too!

I didn't think you added the "other" choice literally for those with dual equipment and such. I figured you were just trying to keep things light-hearted.

This morning I was thinking you left out a couple choices.

A. Men

B. Women

C. Boys

D. Girls

Oh MY ! 500-600 LEVEL Wooooeee. you er gettin' yerself a good education girl! What you are lackin' is life experience and maturity. re: "let me educate you."

and then quoting yer little text book to teach what you just learned.

But I won't hold that against you. It is just one of several "journies" yer on ! Life's journey. yer little classes aren't teachin' u how to treat people very well, but you'll learn after about 20 more years of real life.

Yeah, because you treat people respectfuly and maturely? Your complete lack of knowledge and experience in this exact topic of the social construction of gender is a perfect example of the "journey" that you have yet to understand. You sound like a complete idiot! Just because you are older than I am, it does NOT mean that you are more intelligent or have more life experiences than I do...I'm pretty sure I have you beat in the intellectual abilities and life skills category.

I can guarantee when you reply to this, you will demonstrate once again your lack of respect and competence in reguards to this subject.

You are all welcome to dispute the ideas with one another, and each offer your opinions on the subjects at hand. Personal attacks are not allowed on the board.

At the bottom left hand side you will find the forum rules....

If the poll offends you, or the wording of the poll offends you, no one is requiring you to respond in it.

It is very hard in a forum such as this to "get" humor. We cannot see a raised eyebrow or a grin that might go along with a post, so tend to read everything very seriously.

It is pretty obvious that there are many more women than men here, but maybe through a thread such as this, some of the men will get together for some support.

that certainly is one way to look at it....

i choose to look at it more globally and towards a better world....how do you know that there is not a trangendered member of this community? a person who has grown up being called "it" or "other" their whole life? expecting a little sensitivity or maturity from others in this community goes beyond being "offended" and not responding to polls. and quite frankly, regardless of the "rules", i think it something that is worthy of calling someone out for if their behavior or wording can make some feel detached from this community as a whole.

just like racist, religious or misogynistic slurs or delineations would not be tolerated...neither should "other". fyi, transgendered discrimination is probably the most accepted forms of discrimination -- right up there with fat discrimination -- in this country today... and i don't need to consult a book to verify that....it is part of my family, my community and my passion.

I think everyone just needs to relax. Is there any way to block certain users who you do not care to see their posts? Just curious.

As 2 people so far have already voted on the 'other' category, they obviously didnt mind! lol

Im sure it was a way of being 'Politically Correct' not to assume just men or women use lapband talk.

lol ... OH, I gotta hear this !

I'm sorry, it's my own fault. I shouldn't have encouraged it in the first place. The response is not at all what I expected. I guess it's a good example of 'be careful what you ask for.'

I'm very sorry for my part in messing up the thread/poll.

I've never encountered an issue where the word "other" resulted in such a passionate response.

I have. Imagine when it is used in the context, "Who's that other guy with your wife?"

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
