The 1st 8 Pounds
So I got up at 4am this morning ready to do my Leslie Sanson walk away the pounds DVD (Walk and Kick). Now I haven’t been weighed since I got the pre-op diet from the nutritionist on 02/10 and on that day I was at 276.2lbs. I got the scale from the laundry room praying it didn’t say 276.2 after all I have been following the pre-op diet to the “T” not cheating at all. To my surprise the scale read 268lbs. This is such a great feeling. I know eight pounds is not a lot but for me this is big. This means that I have stuck with something and whatever I’m doing is working. I wanted to share this with you guys because you have been such great supporters since I started my journey. Good Luck to you all!!!

Hey sweetie I'm being banded March 7th...you are right not everyone will support your choice, but the good thing is even if they don't it's still your choice to make and your choice to be a success. You have a great support system here on this site. Gook Luck to you!!!!- Anyone getting banded on 3/8/11
I'm getting banded on March 7th the day before you..Good Luck!- Second Day of Pre-op Diet
This is day 3 for me....I totally understand, but I want to have this weight off me more that a cheeseburger (but I do want a cheeseburger LOL) We are inthis together..Good Luck!- UHC Choice Plus
It has to be the policy with your employer because I have United Health Care “Choice Plus” and they are covering 100%. Even when I had “Choice” they covered 80/20. Did you recently have an open enrollment where there were policy changes? Contact your employer benefits office.- So Frustrated!!!
My insurance required a letter of medical necessity from a doc. I used my Gynecologist instead of my PCP who was not on board just a thought- Just got approved!
Congrats I will be banded March 7th., Pre-op diet starts Monday!!! Keep us posted- Pre-Op Diet! Protein Shakes Suggestions Please???
The only requirement they gave me was at least 15 grams of Protein and less that 5 grams of carbs. I love the Atkins Caramel Cafe shakes they are too good to be diet. I'll be using them, Good Luck!- So mad I could spit nails.....
WOW I would be so pissed... I would call them and tell them how you feel. This is unacceptable!! I they want your money the will clean it up. If they don't to hell with them find another doc who can make you a priority. Good Luck- I Got My Pre-Op Diet Last Night Starts 02/21
I got my pre-op diet last night Breakfast shake lunch Lean Cusine, Healthy Choice or SmartOnes Less than 300 cal and at least 14 grams of protien Snack Shake dinner Lean Cusine, Healthy Choice or SmartOnes Less than 300 cal and at least 14 grams of protien Snack Shake Not too Bad!!!- Help!!!
GO SEE ANOTHER SURGEON!- Awaiting the Bandit
I know how you feel, but Unfortunately they have to submit everything (test included) to the insurance company for approval. United Health Care told me the reason I was approved so quickly (2 days after they submitted everything instead of the 10 days) was beacuse the sugeon submitted everything required. Good Luck!- Help
It's mind over matter. I haven't been banded yet but I will be March 7th. You have to want to keep the weight off more that you want to snack. I know that eaiser said than done but you have a powerful tool on your side (the band) right now you are working against it. Maybe you should try eating before you get to work. According to a book I read about the lapband when you crave a food the craving is usally gone after the 1st 3 bites. Take 3 bites and then stop. Maybe the next time you only want 2 bites. Good Luck You!- CAN'T WAIT TO LOSE MY....
I can't wait to lose all my excess weight lol. My weight is all over not just in one place lol. I just want to feel good when I look at my body in the mirror and not shop in the plus size section. :(- Approved! Surgery date set!
Congrats and Good Luck- Stats Before Banding
Hi, Ill be banded March 7th Weight 276 Height 5'7 BMI 44 Insurance United Health Care "Choice Plus"- Amount of weight loss and expectations
Ok I haven't been banded yet but my surgeon told me that the band would help me lose about 60% of my overweight. Which means since I'm 5'7 276lbs and my ideal weight is 150lbs (according to the BMI calculator) I'm 130lbs overweight. So I could expect to lose 78lbs. Now this is what he told me is realistic but I have been on this site for months now and I know that there are others who have lost more. I'm not expecting to lose more than the 78lbs. But I will do my best to make it at least 100lbs. Good Luck to you!- Got Approved
Congrats- Waiting and Wishing
Hey, I was approved on 1/18/2010 and I'll be banded on 03/07/2011. This date is about 6 months after I went to the siminar.10/11/2010 I know how you feel I using my time to read books about the band and people who have had it, watch youtube success stories and clean out my cabinets, Good Luck to you it will be here soon.- UHC Choice Plus
Hey guys I have United Health Care Choice plus (not sure if it's PPO) They are very strict on the weight history. I was able to get all 5 years but I have heard of others who have gotten denied because of weight history. Everthying was summited to them on 1/11 and I was approved on 01/18. Good luck!- This is it!!!
Thinking about you Good Luck!!- Just got approved!
wow that went quick congrats- Insurance Will Cover 100% Of Lap Band Surgery United Health Care “choice Plus”
I dont have a deductible that has to be met. Just 100.00 to the hospital. I also check to see if the anesthesia is covered because I've heard this before and as long as they are in-network they are also covered. Trust me I've double checked this lol but I still won't be spending any of the money because you never know!! - Not everyone is going to support you
