  1. I say keep it on a need to know basis...Do they really need to know?? You don't need the negitivity.
  2. I turn 28 in Dec and plan on getting banded late Jan or early Fed. I would have done it years ago if I could have. But would I have been ready years ago probally not!!!! I probally would have failed it. I was a different person then.
  3. I just want to add that it’s great that you are concerned. I’m sure you worried that if she gets the band he will become a different person. You feel she’s doing it for vain reasons more that health reasons right? Well I would say we all have our vain reasons for wanting to do this., but none of them outweigh the benefits of a healthier longer life. Trust me she may be healthy now but at her weight the problems will come later. If this makes her happy support her, go to a seminar with her, go to support groups before the surgery with her, ask questions and voice your concerns. She will appreciate you more if you support her. Don’t try to change her mind unless you have all the facts and you are still uncomfortable with it.
  4. That sucks I'm so sorry for you I know that without insurance and a medical spending account to pay my out-of-pocket, I would not be able to do this.....
  5. I was nervous too...But I sucked it up b/c no doctor here would talk to you unless you went to a seminar 1st. I felt like everybody was looking around to see who really needed it and who didn't lol. But is was great I have even went to several support groups since then
  6. How long did it take you guys to get through you pre surgery appt's like psych eval ect:
  7. Great to here my consult with Dr. Hoxworth is 12/1/10. Cant wait
  8. I feel you, lol I'm waiting for my 1st consult 12/1/10....
  9. I don’t see how exercising, making better food choices, can hurt nothing too drastic.
  10. My fiancée and I have been together for 7 years.(He is very thin always have been) When I told him I was thinking about getting banded, he said no “I love you the way you are”, "You are already beautiful" at that point I realized he thought I was doing this for vain reasons. I explained to him that I was doing this not to be beautiful but to be healthy and that I have struggled with my weight all my life. I explained to him that my grandmother died from diabetes before she got to know the woman I became. I explained to him that I wanted to be here for my 7 year old son, 11 month old daughter, and my grandchildren. A week later when I was getting my packet together, he presented me with a letter of support to give to my surgeon. I cried after I read it. I'm glad I have him I’m more glad I told him. Ps: If you getting married I would defiantly tell for medical reasons.
  11. Thats a bit quick for me, but If I could do it I probally would (smile) make sure you research the doctor 1st....
  12. I have united health care it was a struggle getting the 5 Years of weight history, since I have moved to a different city but I got them. I copied a page out of each record showing the date and my weight. It was easy for me because as a woman we see a gynecologist once a year and I spent 2009-2010 pregnant. Just a note they all charged me anywhere from $10-$12 dollars each since they were giving the info to me not a doc's office. Good luck!!!!
  13. You know its funny how one thing (like your husband pissing you off) can open the door not only for you to eat things that are bad for you, it causes you to doubt yourself with you future band. Don’t let…what happens is the devil finds a hole like your hubby making you mad. And he uses that to attack you in other places of your life. You are not a failure, one has nothing to do with the other. You WILL BE A SUCCESS with your band. You recognized that you made a bad food choice this time.. maybe next time it won’t be so much food and the time after that maybe you will be able to turn it down. Keep trying, think positive and Good Luck!!!
  14. Great news you are moving a lot faster than me lol... I dont have my 1st consult until 12/1/10 but with luck I can also get banded Jan or Feb. Keep intouch. Good Luck
  15. I have my consultation 12/01 hoping to get t banded late Jan, not sure if that's possible
  16. I say make them carry a license that requires them to get tested once a month or the license is revoked and have a monthly fee on it.. And they should be able to present it on demand like a sanitation grade at a restaurant. Why not, we give out panhandler licenses. Any way I think it should be legal…. But its not just as simple as saying go do it….. I would need to be regulated so that the men/women who do it will be safe and so will their customers. You risk being in danger at any job.
  17. Hey check your e-mail good luck!!
  18. I'm sorry did I miss something? Did kbrier2703 so they were looking for a cure? If so I totally agree it’s not a cure I haven't been banded yet but when I do get banded I know that I have to put as much into the band as I expect to get out of it. That’s why I'm making those mental and lifestyle changes now. I don’t think you should be so negative why don’t you think you will get approved???
  19. Hey sent one on your e-mail..Good Luck
