Just got approved!

My surgery has been scheduled for 4/11/11, about 7 weeks from now. I am a bit nervous but very excited. I decided to join lapbandtalk to meet others out there that are on the journey that I am about to start. If anyone has any pointers I'd love to hear them!

Congrats! I'll be interested to see how your process goes -I'm new and just going to talk to my doc about it tomorrow to see if I can proceed. Please keep us posted :)

Congratulations!

I have my surgery scheduled for Monday and plan to blog about the process here on the lap band forum. Feel free to check that out (I've been blogging on/off since I started considering Lap Band last August) or just contact me with any questions. I'm very excited about the process and about the support I'm finding here on the web.

As far as pro-op pointers are concerned, I'd highly recommend trying to get a few pounds off before the surgery. It really has given me a feeling of being in control - this is a procedure I've decided on and that I control, rather than a procedure I am having done to me. I think that is a huge part of having a feeling of control and feeling involved in your journey, even before it starts! I did well and I had many major failures, but I lost almost 30 pounds pre-operatively and am a much better candidate for my upcoming surgery.

Good luck and keep us informed on how you are doing!

CONGRATS! Just got approval myself for March 9, 2011. Very excited. When are you starting your preop diet and what do you have to do?

Congrats I will be banded March 7th., Pre-op diet starts Monday!!! Keep us posted

So excited for you! I just got banded on 2/2/11. It really wasn't bad at all, my stomach was just sore from my incisions. It felt like I had done a million sit-ups! Take it easy the first week and try not to do to much other than lay around. The first week I felt restriction just with liquids but the second week not so much (due to the swelling going down). My first fill was scheduled for next Thursday (2/27) but I called them and bumped my appt up a week because I have been able to eat pretty normal. They said you will always be able to eat more before your first fill than after your fill. Either way I lost 18 lbs already, so I'm doing something right! :) I had my first fill yesterday- 4cc's (piece of cake), Oh yeah...I was only out of work a week and that was plenty of time (if you have a desk job).

Good luck and don't worry, it's an exciting process!

Congratulations! As much as you research & plan the call from the nurse with an actaul date makes it so real!

I am scheduled for surgery on March 8, 2011. I start my pre-op diet of 3 meal replacement shakes and 1 frozen meal (under 320 calories) on Tuesday, Feb 22. I am planning on a "last supper" of sorts on Sunday. I know that my relationship with food must change and think of this as a type of good-bye.
