No Sushi? What foods have you had to give up after the Band?
I've never had to small sip any liquid. I can still almost gulp just the same, I said ALMOST. BUT I can NEVER eat and drink, I will for sure throw up!...lol. Luquid does not help the food go down at all it just fills up in my throat like a clogged drain.

Getting stuck is when your band is too tight or you are eating the wrong foods and they do not go down the band good. The food just sits there "stuck", it's painful. Your band it trying to get it to go down but it wont go. For me I end up throwing up in order to get "unstuck" and stop the pain. This might be "TMI" but it's not the same type of throw up from your stomach, the food never makes it to the stomach. So it's more like you just chewed your food up and spit it out (no stomach acid). The point of me bringing this up is because I can't stand to throw up or see anyone throw up; this isn't as bad.

No Sushi? What foods have you had to give up after the Band?
I'm finally figuring this "band' thing out! I notice I have good days (can eat really well) and bad days (everything wants to get stuck). Sometimes I do wonder if I'm too tight because I can throw up everyday. One thing that I'm really starting to notice is, if I let myself get to the point of being hungry (empty stomach), NOTHING and I mean NOTHING will go down except liquid. At that point I will have to drink a Protein shake to stop the hunger, wait a little while, and then I can eat solids. Weird, I know?? Also, I've noticed my band is more tight in the mornings and late evenings, or if I'm upset. I like to eat a soft fried egg in the morning but somedays I can only eat a couple of bites. Here are the things I NO LONGER can eat or I will PAY DEARLY! White rice (brown goes down fine) Sushi Rolls (sashimi goes down great, and high in protien!) meats (ANTHING STRINGY) Cooked Fish Brocolli and salad does not go down good. Breads (sometimes I can get down 1/2 slice of wheat bread toasted) *I'm starting to eat more GLUTEN FREE foods and this is helping me a lot. But like I said, I'm still questioning if my band is to tight because my weight loss is slow. I was banded Feb 2, 2011 and I've lost 40lbs. I'm around 6.4cc's.

4 months out
I had my 4th fill today for a total of 6.5cc's. At 6cc's I still had very little restriction. My doctor told me today (because I was whining saying "when it this thing gonna work"), that the "lap band" (not sure which one you have?) usually hit's the sweet spot between 6-7cc's. I'm on liquids today, so I'll know in a few days if it's working. I was told that I will only be able to eat about 3/4 cup of food in one sitting and I will have to sip water because it will be hard to take multiple gulps. As of yesterday, I was still able to gulp and eat more than 3/4' cup. I just choose to eat the healthy stuff so I’m still losing either way. I DO throw up when I've tested out pasta, breads, and shrimp (or just ate too fast). So it's definitely working when trying to eat the bad stuff! I feel your frustration though. The good thing is....yes, we are still losing weight! Hang in there.....40LBS is Great!

4th fill and super tight!
How much did they fill you on the last visit? Just curious because I'm at 5cc's and feel no restriction yet.

Side Ache Pain??
Yes it's right under my left rib cage around my port. It feels like I drank to much water and went jogging. It hurts but goes away. I wonder if it's gas maybe?

Side Ache Pain??

Just got approved!
So excited for you! I just got banded on 2/2/11. It really wasn't bad at all, my stomach was just sore from my incisions. It felt like I had done a million sit-ups! Take it easy the first week and try not to do to much other than lay around. The first week I felt restriction just with liquids but the second week not so much (due to the swelling going down). My first fill was scheduled for next Thursday (2/27) but I called them and bumped my appt up a week because I have been able to eat pretty normal. They said you will always be able to eat more before your first fill than after your fill. Either way I lost 18 lbs already, so I'm doing something right! I had my first fill yesterday- 4cc's (piece of cake), Oh yeah...I was only out of work a week and that was plenty of time (if you have a desk job). Good luck and don't worry, it's an exciting process! Desiree
