  1. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today but the subject for this thread makes me mad. I saw the subject "feel like a failure" and got scared that the sleeve might have failed someone. Then, I read that you've lost 90 lbs. On what planet is that a failure? Give me a break.
  2. Dr. Lavin didn't require any diet from me. But, also, my BMI is "just" 39. I need to be liquid only the day before surgery (next week!).
  3. I have a bunch of befores in my profile. Surgery is in 2 weeks and I'll absolutely post progress pics.
  4. I found out that my doc uses a "peristrip" on the staples. Has anyone heard of this? Do all docs do this?
  5. lol - I hope to never shop at Casual Male XL again!
  6. Maybe we can pay extra for this "service"?
  7. Dr. Lavin in Louisiana is $13,600 all inclusive
  8. Wonderful. I haven't felt confident enough to wear a bathing suit in public in years. I look forward to that again.
  9. What protein shakes are you using?
  10. What do they do with the stomach portion that's removed? Does anyone keep it? That probably sounds crazy, but it is/was a big part of me.
  11. Huge fun and pretty accurate.
  12. I know of one other besides me. Who else?
  13. So much great info on this website. I cannot imagine doing this (Aug 28) without this board.
  14. Nice! We'll have to compare experiences.
  15. Are there any others here with Restless Legs Syndrome? I'm curious if losing weight/sleeving has changed the symptoms. Also, how the post sleeve stomach deals with the medications (I take Mirapex). -JZ
  16. That's how I found about Dr. Lavin. I was initially interested in the POSE procedure but my BMI is too high for it. I talked to Dr. Lavin on the phone for about 20 minutes and got a great feeling from him. I also did research on him and he's top in this field.
  17. Great news! I really appreciate hearing that.
  18. On August 28th I will be getting my VSG in Louisiana with Dr. Lavin. I'll be glad to be on the other side of this and on my way.
  19. I was told on Friday that I have Type 2 though my numbers seem low to me (Glucose: 140, A1C: 7). I hope my upcoming VSG cures this.
  20. Wow. I was just going to post this same thing. Since I decided to do Vsg I've totally fallen off the wagon and am binge eating. I'm actually a bit sick of it right now.
  21. I did a sleep study because I wasn't sleeping well. Also, I was told that I snored like a freight train. The study showed that I had a high of 40 episodes an hour. So, now I use a CPAP and it's made a huge improvement in my life. I no longer snore at night and I wake up feeling refreshed. P.S. I'm hoping I won't need the CPAP after I'm sleeved and lose weight.
  22. It's my understand that VSG resolves diabetes. Remember, you can also convert a sleeve into a bypass.
  23. Before you did it, did you discuss how complications would be handled? Dr. Lavin includes complication coverage for 1 year but the work needs to be done in Louisiana.
