    Pose

Last year I actively considered a LapBand but ended up rejecting it for a variety of reasons. Recently, I heard about a new procedure that may be the answer to my prayers, POSE. It's more common in Europe - I think there's only one clinic doing it in the US (in Louisiana). I'd appreciate knowing if anyone here knows about it and can give anecdotes/advise/etc. Here are some links: http://abcnews.go.co...ough-the-mouth/ http://www.poseinfo.com/ http://www.southampt...dolumenal-pose/
  4. 1 Pre-made Premier vanilla Protein shake 4-5 Slices frozen banana Few drops of vanilla Small pinch brown sugar Blend until smooth. It's awesome!!!
  5. Hello folks, I can't tell you how much I appreciate this forum. Without this forum, I can't imagine that I'd be embarking on this surgery. As a child, I was normal weight. However, many members of my extended family were overweight with some having diabetes. In my early 20s I started gaining weight and have never stopped. As I approach 50 I'm obese, have very high blood sugar (and will definitely become Type 2 Diabetic), high cholesterol, severe sleep apnea, etc. I've done Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Phentermine, exercise, Pritikin, and a lot more. A few years ago I looked into the Lap Band and decided against it. The post-band lifestyle and complications were more than I was willing to live with. Gastric Bypass was too severe and not really appropriate for someone with my BMI. A few months ago I found out about VSG and it appears to be the answer to my dreams. My problem has always been binge eating - once I start I can't stop. VSG seems to be the tool that can help me stop. After a lot of investigation I'm pretty sure I'll be going with Dr. Lavin in Louisiana. I'm self pay and he is much cheaper than the doctors in California where I live. Also, he seems to be very highly rated. Anyway - I'm in the very early stages and I'll keep those interested posted via this thread. -Jordan

    Ready For The Change

Just a note on progress: weight loss has slowed to a normal rate (which I'm glad for). As of today I'm down 28 lbs (212)!

    Guys: Telling People?

I'm usually upfront about everything with people. Consequently I've told everyone - even at work. I'm not making a big deal about it. But, I don't mind anyone knowing.

    B-12 And The Sleeve

I saw my doc today and she gave me a B12 shot and said I don't need the sublingual pills if I get the shot once a month. Thoughts?
  10. I have both psoriasis and eczema. Both seem better post surgery. I hadn't thought about it but someone mentioned that my skin looks clearer.

    Baby Food

I've been having Sweet Potato baby food almost every day.
  12. Sleeved Aug 27 and doing great. I'm down 23 lbs which boggles my mind. I'm on liquids plus I eat an egg or two a day, bananas, oatmeal, and some milk (pudding mostly). I'd never been lactose intolerant before but I need to take lactaid with any milk. For exercise I'm trying to walk 30 minutes a day or so. I had an umbilical hernia fixed and can't do any heavy lifting for several more weeks. I've been getting about 400-500 cals a day. Today I got around 750.
  13. The pre-surgery diet from my doc (Dr. Lavin) says I need only do a liquid diet the day before surgery. Is this because my BMI is relatively low (39ish)?

Did Anyone By A New Article Of Clothing Pre-Surgery?

As a man, I'm not afraid to say that I can't wait to go clothes shopping in a normal store again. For the past few years clothes shopping for me has been about covering my fat and buying anything that doesn't look terrible. To be able to again wear something because I like the way it looks will be wonderful.

Did Anyone By A New Article Of Clothing Pre-Surgery?

Not me (sorry to lurk into the Ladies' room). At the moment, though, I'm enjoying working backwards through clothes. I've lost 22 lbs since surgery and am currently in clothes from many years ago. Optimistically, I never threw them out.
  16. Use stool softener! It will be very painful otherwise.
  17. No malabsorption - no food restrictions - no dumping - much simpler surgery. I can't think of a good reason to do a bypass.
  18. I wonder why it is. It's happening to me too. Anyone know the technical reason why we burp more after the sleeve?
  19. I see so many different diet advancements. I'd appreciate to see what others' are. Follow mine ala: Day 1 - 7: Clear liquids Day 7 - 10: Add Protein shakes Day 10 - 14: Full liquids Week 3: Some mushy food (oatmeal, cream of wheat, banana, fruit) Week 4: Add well cooked veg, Beans, lo-fat cheeses Week 5: Add egg, lo-fat crackers, fresh fruit, Protein Bars Week 6: Add cooked vegetables, canned tuna, crab meat, Cereal and cereal bars Week 7: Add salads, lean ground meats
  20. I just can't imagine why someone would want to suffer with a bypass when VSG is an option. In the worst case, VSG can be revised into a bypass. It's a no-brainer.
