  1. So much great info on this website. I cannot imagine doing this (Aug 28) without this board.
  2. Nice! We'll have to compare experiences.
  3. Name: Jordan Age: 47 Location: Monterey, CA highest weight/current weight/ goal weight: 240/240/150 Anything else you'd like to share: Married 19 years, no kids, dog
  4. Are there any others here with Restless Legs Syndrome? I'm curious if losing weight/sleeving has changed the symptoms. Also, how the post sleeve stomach deals with the medications (I take Mirapex). -JZ
  5. I'm now officially an August sleever: Aug 28
  6. That's how I found about Dr. Lavin. I was initially interested in the POSE procedure but my BMI is too high for it. I talked to Dr. Lavin on the phone for about 20 minutes and got a great feeling from him. I also did research on him and he's top in this field.
  7. I've got my date!!!! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/46579-its-a-date-august-28th/page__pid__424862#entry424862
  8. Great news! I really appreciate hearing that.
  9. On August 28th I will be getting my VSG in Louisiana with Dr. Lavin. I'll be glad to be on the other side of this and on my way.
  10. I was told on Friday that I have Type 2 though my numbers seem low to me (Glucose: 140, A1C: 7). I hope my upcoming VSG cures this.
  11. I got a major scare today. Dr. Lavin's office called with the results of my lab work. According to them, I actually have Type II Diabetes now. I'm a bit confused because my PCP tells me that my glucose is only elevated. Glucose: 140 AIC: 7 The good news is that VSG should clear this up for me.
  12. I live in Monterey but am self-pay - so I've been shopping cost. I'm going to have mine done in Louisiana with Dr. Lavin.
  13. Wow. I was just going to post this same thing. Since I decided to do Vsg I've totally fallen off the wagon and am binge eating. I'm actually a bit sick of it right now.
  14. I did a sleep study because I wasn't sleeping well. Also, I was told that I snored like a freight train. The study showed that I had a high of 40 episodes an hour. So, now I use a CPAP and it's made a huge improvement in my life. I no longer snore at night and I wake up feeling refreshed. P.S. I'm hoping I won't need the CPAP after I'm sleeved and lose weight.
  15. It's my understand that VSG resolves diabetes. Remember, you can also convert a sleeve into a bypass.
  16. Before you did it, did you discuss how complications would be handled? Dr. Lavin includes complication coverage for 1 year but the work needs to be done in Louisiana.
  17. I've tentatively selected Dr. Lavin in Louisiana even though I live in California. I got a great feeling from him on the phone plus he's a lot cheaper than some of the doctors near me. Should I be concerned about how complications will be handled? His office told me that I'd need to go back to their hospital in Louisiana if complications arise. Is that common? I know a lot of folks go to Mexico. Is it worth around $4K (travel factored in) more to have it done locally? -JZ
  18. My CPA told me that you have 60 days to repay the loan - and that means exactly 60 days. The money has to be back on the 59th day.
  19. emlefe - great post. I'm so excited about getting sleeved for exactly the reasons you lay out.
  20. FYI - I recently found this video that mentions leakage as the biggest risk with VSG. However, it's substantially reduced if the surgeon reinforces the staple line. I'm still pre-op and will absolutely make sure my doctor does this.
  21. Dr. Thomas Lavin. BTW - they tell me that the price includes everything as well as complication coverage.
  22. I live in California, Dr. Cirangle quoted me around $18K so I'm going to have it done in Louisiana by Dr. Lavin. Their quote is $13,600. BTW - I'm self pay.
  23. Out of curiosity, is it causing weight gain for you? Also, do you find that you can eat a lot of junk or does the sleeve stop you from gorging?
