  1. I've heard alot of good things about the metrogel. I like the Acanya...a little drying but I'm using a daily moisturizer by Vanicream. Does the metrogel dry out your skin too?? OMG and my face is completely clear....wish I would of switched Doctors sooner!! Its nice talking to someone who understands :)

  2. I would love to know too. I bought some "lemon" chewable gel caps...NASTY, literally made me gag. I also cannot swallow the big capsules. I may have to investigate ones Camille talked about...and Kelly which ones are tasteless??

  3. I'm finally getting there....Monday I had another fill, putting me to 5cc's....actually feeling a little restriction now, so battling the hunger is much better. I've managed to "teeter" back and forth by about 5 lbs since September. My true goal though, I really think I want to lose another 10 lbs...just not watching the scale so much these days, but I wanna explored the new me with a little more loss. Thank you everyone for your support. So glad I found this site...amazing people here :)

  4. I am a nurse in a dermatology office- and I have never seen anyone come in with this- and we have had multipule post-banding patients (I often see that they have been banded and talk about it with them since it is something I am in the process of trying to get!!) Though hormones and things are often shifted with weight loss, i personally dont think it's because of that. We have had adults (over the age of 60!) have their first "flare" of rosacea. I have never seen the doctor I work for prescribe doxy for 3x a day though- crazy! Hopefully they don't have you on it for very long!! Did they also give you a topical? (Metrogel? Finacea?) Just curious!! The doctor I work for doesnt like to use steriods unless really necessary, and never have I seen it for rosacea, but if it worked, I am happy! Keep me posted on this, as I am very curious as to how it goes for you!

Dr. Bunas is having me do doxy 3x daily for one month, 2x daily for one month, 1x daily for 2 weeks then every other day for 2 weeks. It started by going to my PCP and numerous attempts with antibiotics for 10 day cycle, for it only to return after a week or so. He referred me to the first Dermatologist who put me on Oracea (EXPENSIVE and didn't work) and had me use Finacea and Bactroban. After months of no results and she refused to try any other medications...financially couldn't justify the Oracea....especially since it wasn't working. I'm really loving Dr. Bunas, he is being aggressive to get this under control and then we will taper from there. He also gave me Acanya Cream to start in about another week...only wanting to try one thing at a time, to truly see what is working and what isn't. ....and he gave me a TON of samples, which I really appreciate. I'd much rather try something and see if it work before hitting the ol' pocket book again. I can honestly say....for the first time in months I don't feel like my face is on fire. I was literally having to use gel ice packs on my chin (this area was effected mostly)...my nose, cheeks, forehead pretty much always were fine. He isn't sure if this is Rosacea? Impetigo? Acne? Once the inflammation and infection is down I'm sure we can assess it better :) I know I'm loving the results I see in the mirror...first time in a very long time. 14 months is a long time to deal with an infection...very depressing. I goto to see Dr. Bunas again on Dec. 28th...he may not recognize me :) I'll keep you updated. Thank you

  5. Betz...I actually was in the hospital ER with the Flu at the time when my band slipped. The Pain was something I cannot explain...extremely painful. Sometimes they can unfill and the band will go back into place. I was less fortunate and had to have emergency surgery. Glad all of that is behind me now.

  6. Your doing great and you look amazing. Acknowledgement is the first step in understanding our setbacks. Today is a new day with new choices! If your like me, it took years to develop these bad habits...and will probably take years for them to disappear. Every day those habits become more of a distant memory. Best of luck and YOU CAN DO IT! The power of positive thinking.

  7. Congratulations on taking charge of your life. I'm 42 and I certainly wish I would of taken the steps earlier in age. I see how much I've inspired my 3 grown children and hopefully prevent them from ever having to go through what I did. The hardest step for me was admitting that I could not do this alone...having this surgery saved my life and changed it forever. Its not a quick fix and its hard work...but so worth it. I'm 5'8 started at 292 and now at 168. Good luck with your journey, you'll be amazed who you motivate and inspire along the way...that is such a good feeling. I look forward to seeing you post your success!

  8. Everyone is different Sunnydee....depending on if your excercising...you may be losing inches and not losing, muscle weighs more than fat...it all catches up in the end. Debra stated 700...I actually gain weight if I don't get enough calories. I eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks a day (approx 1100 Calories) and within 18 months I lost 130 lbs. I also excercise though...When were you banded? I would also look at what kinds of calories your eating?? Focus on Protein...it really is the key to success. Good luck on your journey.

  9. I think hanging skin...or looking "old" is among many of our worries. We are all so different, so who knows what to expect. For me personally (I can only answer for me) excercise was the key to keeping my skin happy along this journey...along with eating healthy and taking my vitamins, calcium and Vit. D. Call it genetics or is it because I treated my body right?? Who really knows?? I'm 42, Mother of 3...Lost 130 lbs and I do not have saggy old skin. Treat your body right along the way and I imagine you'll be rewarded in the end.

Best Wishes on staying away from the hand dryers.:cursing:

  11. I found this on another Blog, I thought it was well stated...I hope this helps answer one of your questions.

"You must increase your protein and lower your carb intake in order to lose the proper amount of weight and/or shrink your liver during the pre-op phase. Glucose stored in the liver is called glycogen. Glycogen is like your backup fuel. When the body is deprived of carbs, glycogen is yanked from your liver, forcing your body to burn fat, causing your liver to shrink. If your surgeon is not able to move the liver out of the way, your surgery could get cancelled. Depending on your insurance plan, you might not get another chance."

    Best of Luck,

    Christy

  12. Wow, 26 lbs in a month...OUTSTANDING...keep up the great work. I didn't really honestly see the weight loss in myself until about 40 lbs...of course everyone else noticed. Maybe we are little harder on ourselves, or we are in denial that the scale is going down. Now when I look back at pictures I really see the difference...hmm I know I had a hard time with self image and allowing myself to embrace my losses. Your doing great...keep up the great work...and celebrate. Embrace the new you that is emerging!
