  1. I'm just really observant with my calorie intake. I try to keep it ~1000 calories a day. I used to obsess about it, but now I'm like "hey, if I go over, it's not like the 3000 calories a day I used to eat"

In regards to me trying to cut down on sugars, I find that if I eat a lot of sugar, by 3pm I'm sluggish, once again, I don't make an effort to be sugar free, etc but I'm going to choose splenda over sugar, or a sugar free/ff vanilla latte over just a fat free latte.

I say do whatever works for you and as long as your MD is fine with it then have fun! LOL

  2. Glad to hear you are doing okay, I wish I did my surgery out patient, I was 1 night in the hospital and it was the WORSE! The lady next to me had a bad time with the anesthesia and was up all night throwing up. Also I was not happy with sharing a bathroom.

This is your time to heal, relax, and let someone else take care of you (I know it's tough!)

Welcome to the life of a bandster! :)

  3. I am a struggling grazer as well. I find that if I stay away from food I'll be okay. I have no snack foods at home except for soy nuts which I'll have every once and a while.

I now think things through before I eat without having to. Do I REALLY need to eat that? Why am I eating this? What am I feeling? Stressed? Mad? Sad? I usually eat when I'm stressed, and trust me I've slipped, but I just have to learn to not have crap food at home.

Also drink tons of water, it helps.

  4. Yes! You are going to get intoxicated a lot more faster than the "normal" person. I was told by my md it is because we eat a lot less calories than a non-bandster. He said "it's okay to drink just do it at home the first time" I was sooo scared. Now I'm okay, I do get drunk a lot faster. I have found if I pace myself I'll be okay. I have a drink, then one pint of ice water, another drink (the same as the first one....or not lol ;) ) and another pint of ice water etc. I always end the night with water just to clear my pouch out from anything that could be acidic (ie margaritas).

    Hope that helps :)

  5. Good job on the weight loss!!!! In regards to your approval for you panni procedure call your insurance company because they will tell you when the authorizations expire., it all depends. Also, in regards to a tt the med school that my hospital works with has a resident cosmetic program which costs considerably less than a regular tt. Granted its residents that do the actual surgery but the plastic surgeon is there too, and there have never been any horror stories lol. Good luck with everything and keep on blogging!

  6. Keep up the good work! It's great to have a good support system. I remember when I was in my liquid phase my mom would liquify dinner for me. Granted, I could do it myself, but I think she liked to help out. We're going on vacation in March and she asked me "do you want anything special, I know how careful you are." since we're staying in her RV. I told her no, just a TON of bottled water.

Keep up the good work :)

  7. I think my wake up call was when I told someone recently I had WLS and they looked at me like "yeah, ok, sure" I realized that it's not going to do the work for me, it's a tool to help but I have to work with it too.

Good luck with the weight loss so far, can't wait to reach my goals, I know this will be my year!

And there is always a seat for you in my wagon! LOL :)

  8. No I go to my surgeon for my fills and for a while his APRN was doing the fills (now the APRN and another surgeon, who didn't do my lap-band surgery, but did remove my gall bladder and I love her to death) do my fills. The APRN was the one who suggested the RX diet pills, her attitude is "hurry up and lose the weight"

  9. Good for you, I'm on the same boat as you (minus the slip), since being back on the "band wagon" I've lost 19 pounds and a total of 27 pounds since my pre-op weight. I was getting lazy and not going in for fills and I don't think I ever found my "green zone" so far I have 2.5 ccs in a 4 cc band, got my fill on Monday so I haven't had any solid food yet (Friday) to see how it's going. It takes a lot of patience and I'm not giving up this time! Good luck and if you need a buddy I'm right here!
