  1. Hi, I am 5'2 1/2" (got to add that extra half inch). I was 200lbs with a BMI of 36 when I had surgery on 8-24. I felt uncomfortable for the first five days post op no real pain just a bit sore. It got better everyday and by day 6 I was feeling about 85% and was 100% one week out. I only had real issues with gas pain the first night in the hospital after that nothing. I would think the smaller you are the less gas they need to use during surgery. I also think that a lot of the larger patients have more issues with the weight of their tummies pulling a bit. I know I have seen some people mention bindings. I'll be one month out on Tuesday and have lost already 20lbs. Nancy
  2. Hi, Like you said everyone is different. On day 15 I started walking an hour a day 5 times a week. Before the surgery I was walking 2 hours with heavy hills I won't be able to do the hills until week 4-6 depending on what the surgeon saids on my week 4 visit. Nancy
  3. Sleeve4me I am so happy for you! Just wait until the wave of relief that will hit you now that you did it made it through and feel you again! Nancy
  4. Hi, I had a headache for the first 5 days and then when I finally broke down and got DH to buy me some liquid tylenol it went away(G) Nancy
  5. Hi, I am only 2 1/2 weeks out but so far I don't regret it at all. Nancy
  6. Hi, I don't like broth either so what I did was take a can of chicken noodle soup strained add the Water like that can saids to and heat tastes a lot better then broth. Nancy
  7. Hi, I am 15 days out and have lost about 16 lbs but to me when I look in the mirror I look like I lost more go figure. I know when I saw my surgeon last week and was 14lbs down they were pleased with my progress. I think the more you weight the faster the weight loss and if you are not getting all your fluids in you will also lose the weight fastere but it is a false weight loss. Nancy
  8. Hi, I have been taking Fiber Choice with Calcium chewables. One a day and it has helped check with your doctor is it is okay. nancy
  9. Alish, It is so wierd to me how different the post op diets are from doctor to doctor. I think the thing with tomato Soup and V8 doesn't have to do with their thickness but rather acidity. I have found that making sugar free puddings with Protein powders works really well you don't need to really taste it just swallow it like a raw oyster(G) Nancy
  10. I will be thinking go away fog thoughts and good thought for you on surgery day. You'll do fine. Nancy
  11. Donebare, That is what I want to know my incision is all of two inches! I cvonsider the part they took out as my new stomach's evil twin. Nancy
  12. I bought their dutch chocolate Isopure I hate it I bought it online but haven't found anywhere where it talkes about their refund policy. I do like their muscle milke and a new one that is all About Time Protein powder. Nancy
  13. Emma, I wish this had been available when I was your age I am a little jealous of all the doors that will open for you. Nancy
  14. Hi, I take compounding hormones and did not have to go off them I did not take them the first week post op but went back on them. I am post so maybe that is why? Nancy

Hi All, So tomorrow is my two week surgiversary. I think I have been floating on a pink cloud for the last week. I keep waiting for the second shoe to drop I have no gas no reflux no pain. I feel wonderful. Giddy actually I am finally starting to believe this will work. I have to stop my self from running up to every overweight person I see and telling them about this fantastic journey I find myself on. I am so surprised now how much food is pushed down our throats by the media. It is State Fair time here in Los Angeles and so all the news stations have been covering all the fried foods. I have to tell you they are easier then I thought they would be to see. I use to obsess about food always worried about it now I don't. Freedom at last! That is what this surgery has given me. Nancy
  16. Thanks Mini Me. Yesterday I made myself two pouched eggs they certainly didn't look like a lot but after almost finishing them I realized one would have been more then enough. Nancy
  17. Hi, Let's see the last thing I remember is that it was 3pm the next when I was awake enough to see it was 5pm. I'll have to ask my husband (G) nancy
  18. Hi, I am two weeks post op all is good but I am having a devil of a time figuring out how much to eat. I keep overeating and feel stuffed I get a little nausea but it passes quickly. I worry that I am stretching my new sleeve out is it possible? Nancy
  19. Hi, I agree. Smoking not only causes constriction of blood flow but also effects your lungs and with the possible risks of blood clots and lung problems increase. Maybe you can try making edibles with them.
  20. Hi, I have Kaiser but was rejected by the for the sleeve because my BMI was not high enough it was high 36s and no diabetes so I had to be self pay. I'll ask my friend who did the options about the doctors there and will call them on Tuesday when they are open. I imagine it can only benefit us to have a PCP who knows what issues we may get down the line. Nancy
  21. Emma, Excellent attitude! You may want to try out different Protein mixes while you wait and find one you like beforehand and start getting use to drinking all day long. For me the crystal lights have been a godsend. Also if you can start a walking routine that will help with your recovery. And start taking your Vitamins now to build up your system. Nancy
  22. Boo! I am in Santa Clarita. I will call the options program out here and see if any of theirs are accepting new patients. I am so glad you posted this as your game plan. Thanks Nancy
  23. Which Kaiser is he at? I think that is a brilliant move and if I can I'd love to do the same. Nancy
  24. Hi, I am 10 days out and we better be on the loser's bench(G) For me everyday gets better and better. Nancy
  25. Hi Emma and welcome, This is a great site I can not tell you how many times I ran here when I needed to be talked off the fear edge. Fear and doubts are perfectly normal. You will do fine especially at your young age. nancy
