  1. I had been making mine with skim milk, a banana, and some ice, like a real shake. Never thought about just throwing it in a sealable container with Water and drinking it that way. DUH!!!!! But then again, I really don't like the Bariatric Advantage stuff that I've been drinking. So I'll try some of these other suggestions. Thanks for the feedback all!!
  2. I'm 4 weeks post-op and know that I'm not getting enough protein. I'm always running late, so I don't have time to blend up a shake every day. Does anyone have any suggestions for pre-made protein drinks and/or bars that are tasty. I've tried a few pre-made drinks that make me gag, and the same for the bars. Any suggestions?
  3. I actually had the very same experience. I was on clear liquids for 2 days, full liquids for 2 and then mushies. The first 2 days, I could NOT hardly get anything down at all without it feeling stuck in my throat or chest. But by day 4, it happened less frequently. It took me until about 2 weeks post op before I didn't get that feeling at all. Good luck!!!
  4. Mine too!!! Seems quite unfair since I have absolutely no restriction right now and could gnaw my own arm off most of the time!
  5. Thanks Kelly, definitely good information to have!! Good luck to you!!
  6. Ok, stupid question, but I'm 4 weeks post op and have heard nothing about lapband cards! What are they and how do you get one?
  7. I'd call my office if they were open on Monday. Oh well, I guess I'll just fast in the morning and see what happens. I'd rather not eat or drink and have been able to then to eat and drink and shouldn't have. Thanks!!!
  8. I'm having my first fill tomorrow, but I have been given no instructions about what and if I need to do anything prior to my appointment. What have been some of your experiences with first fills. Do I need to not eat or drink anything, or stick to just liquids, etc?
  9. Give yourself a break!! You're only 3 days out, still full of gas, swollen, your body needs time to recover before you're going to start dropping weight. I actually gained 3 pounds post surgery. I know it's hard, when all of this prep work that we put in pre-op is difficult, but we do it, then we stall. But the first month is for healing, not losing. Chances are you'll start dropping weight in a few days anyway, but don't be discouraged to see that it stalls again as you start adding more foods. Remember, we are all on a journey, take success in the accomplishments along the way, but it's still a journey!! Good Luck!!!!
  10. The buffalo chicken from Subway sounds good, I may have to try that. As for losing sweet tooths and such, I wish...I still am craving chocolate as ever as I did before. Ate a brownie, still as good as before...it's a shame too, because I was hoping that I'd be one that lost my tastes for the bad stuff. Oh well...
  11. I completely understand the frustration. I'm down 20 and the only place I can tell is in my fingers and my feet. People tell me that my face looks thinner, but I don't even see that. But I'm sure, in a month or so, the pants will be looser if not too loose to wear!!! Hang in there!
  12. Oooh, I'm excited, I have my first fill on Tuesday!!! I've been really nervous about it, but feel a little better after reading your experience. Thanks for sharing!
  13. So I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and my reflux was immediately gone right after surgery. However, I've noticed the past couple of days that I have some annoying heartburn. I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the time of my surgery as well, so I thought that I was all clear. Any ideas?
  14. I found this thread so intriguing, cause I'm 3 weeks out and keep thinking, ugh, do I have to exercise? So I'm in awe that you all are so dedicated to exercise, while I am dreading every second of it!!!
  15. I was banded May 10th and so far, so good. Except for the fact that I went to a barbeque yesterday and did NOT do so well. I haven't had a fill yet and I am hungry ALL THE TIME!!!! But I ate what I ate, forgave myself and put myself on liquids for today and tomorrow. I go for my fill June 8th and am hoping for a little restriction, even though I've been told that it probably won't happen. I was down 20 pounds on Saturday and refuse to weigh right now, lol! I hope everyone else is doing GREAT!!!!
  16. Hey Angie, I'm in the same boat!! I had my surgery May 10th and have no restriction whatsoever. I know that I've read that we're in "bandster hell" where we're only limited by ourselves and not the band yet. I go in for my first fill on June 8th and am hoping and praying that I don't gain anything between now and then!!! Although from what I've heard, we still won't get good restriction until the 3-4 fill...ugh!!! So here we are...newly band and left to our own willpower!! And I don't know about you but, if I had any willpower, I wouldn't have needed the band!!! Hang in there, let's just all support each other through "hell" and rejoice when we're on the other side. BTW, your breakfast sounds YUMMY!!!!
  17. So I'm 10 days post op and on a soft food, mushie diet right now. I was able to add fresh fruits today, which I am VERY excited about. However, I am HUNGRY!!!! And it's not just head hunger that I've read about, I am hungry!!!! I have absolutely no restriction when I eat, which I understand is normal, but I can eat waaaaayyyy more than I should and am not having any problems with the size bite I take or how long I chew. Is this normal? Or am I just abnormal?!?!?!
  18. I had my surgery on May the 10th as well, but my recovery has not been as easy as I thought it would be. I ended up having a hiatal hernia repair (which a lot of you did) and some scar tissue removed. I could NOT drink anything the first 2 days, but slowly I've been able to get through on SF lemonade and broth. I'm now on to the mushie stage, but I am hungryyyyyyyyyy!!!! LOL. I don't go for my follow up, first fill appointment until June 8th. I am VERY excited though, I get to add fresh fruits tomorrow, which is awesome cause it's my birthday! And then fish this weekend. I still am having quite a bit of pain around the port site, can not sleep in my bed because it stretches out my abdomen and I can't stand it. So I'm very tired from sleeping in a chair, which is not very restful. Sounds like everyone's doing alright with all of the new and somewhat difficult changes. Good luck to everyone!! Let's keep up the good work!
  19. Angie, I understand exactly how you feel. I am hungry more and more often now, although I don't feel like I've healed at all. I too am on soft foods and they just are NOT sticking with me and I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well. This not drinking while eating part, is VERY difficult for me!! I drink pretty much all day long, previously, while I ate too!!! So it's hard for me to get in my daily water intake. Oh well, I go to get my first fill on June 8th, hopefully I'll feel a little restriction then!
  20. So what's the newest update on everyone who's been banded or still doing pre-op?
  21. I honestly didn't start really feeling hungry until about day 5-6. And I'm thanking GOD that I do not have a 2 week liquid diet after, just the first 5 days. Now I'm on to soft foods and can add fresh fruit tomorrow, yay!!! The funny thing is, is that I can add fish this weekend, and I HATE fish, but I am SOOOOO looking forward to it!!!:w00t: Anyway, doing a little better today, still having major port site pain though. Last night was so bad that I was in tears! I hope you all aren't having the pain that I'm having.
  22. I think I'm a toughie too, which is why I can't stand feeling like this! I'm off the pain meds, have been for 4 days, so that's not it. According to my doc, I'm on a soft food diet, so I'm eating cottage cheese, SF pudding, Jello, some Soups, but I'm still hungry!! And my stomach growling is from hunger not gas. I feel like I've become an expert on differentiating between gas pains and other pain, LOL!! I'm excited about the future, but right now I just have buyer's remorse :-(
  23. So I was banded on the 10th, had a hiatal hernia repaired and scar tissue removed as well. Needless to say, the 3 days that I had scheduled to take off work turned into the entire week. I came back to work yesterday, but still feel like crap!!! I am still having major port site tenderness and pain and now battling diarrhea as well. I am getting seriously hungry every 3 hours, so much so that my stomach sounds and feels like it's eating itself!!! The portion size that I've been able to stand is increasing as well (which I don't think is a good thing)!! I know that month 1 is for healing, but come on...when you're only eating (drinking) 600-800 calories a day, I freaking better be losing weight!!! However, including preop and postop, I'm down 13 pounds! So, 8 days post op, and everything I've read in these forums is how great everyone's done with their surgeries. I am not normally a whiner, and can handle pain pretty well, but I feel horrible!!!!! AM I ALONE OUT HERE?!?!?!?!?
  24. I'm having my surgery on Monday, May 10th and I'm only taking 3 days off. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I sit at a desk all day with minimal lifting and walking from floor to floor. But according to my doctor, as long as I don't have any complications, I should be fine.
  25. I understand how you feel completely!!! My surgery is Monday the 10th and I'm feeling a myriad of emotions!!! Good luck to you, I'm sure everything will go smoothly!!!
