Help I am hurting
Yikes, don't pour salt in your throat. Put warm water in a glass, put salt in it. Stir it til salt is dissolved. Then gargle and SPIT IT OUT. I hope you are ok.

Plastic Surgery (Tummy Tuck)?
I would check out the plastic surgery section here at lap band talk. Many people have done it, but I'm kind of scared to have another surgery. I'm losing too many brain cells lol.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
Glad to see the updates  October is coming along nicely with a bunch of bands already in place  I got my band Oct 7 and am slowly getting better. I still have pain getting up and down and am making myself walk more. I pureed some chunky vege Soup then strained it. Mixed in some beef broth with the liquid and it was very good. I made sure it was pretty thin. Felt like my first food in forever becuase it actually tasted like vege soup. Now I am full after 1 cup lol. I am taking in liquids easily and have been eating s/f Jello and s/f frozen pops. Just tiny amounts and get full. My first follow up appt is this Wednesday, Oct 13, 2010. I have a 10 cc band and was told they put in 3 cc. I will verify this on Wed when I'm not doped up lol. I decided I like tracking my food on myfitnesspal.com because the ticker should auto update on this forum when I do a weigh in on myfitnesspal. I started out using sparkpeople, but decided I wanted the more user friendly myfitnesspal.

Please have you heard of this, Is there anyway I can proceed?
Did you maybe go to obgyn or a walk in clinic and get a flu shot or something for that year? I had to use a gyn appt weigh in for 1 of my 5 years. They said they would submit it with a year skipped but it's better to have non interupted 5 years.

Gas Keeping Me Miserable
I remember with my hysterectomy breathing made the gas pain hurt when I inhaled. Was horrible. Heating pad helped it some. I just had my band surgery (10/7) and either I didn't have the gas get trapped or the Gas X chewables are actually helping me. I am crushing one 4 times a day and mixing with punch and drinking it. I read they have it in a patch too. Sorry about your gas pain :puke:

? for people who have to crush pills
I am crushing pills. I add sugar free punch in a tiny cup and mix it. Makes it easier to take. I'm also crushing my anti nausea pills. (banded 2 days ago). My doc said don't crush time released pills but that others are ok to crush.

I am hurting badly...
I had mine Oct 7 and am also in quite a bit of pain. I'm sleeping in reclyner and taking my meds on schedule, sometimes I'm taking it an hour early. I think many go back to work too soon. Maybe you could try to get next week off? If you are in USA, maybe get your doc to fill out some FMLA paperwork for you.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
Today is Day 2 post op. The surgery went well but I am sore in the stomach area. Of course that makes sense lol. Sleepng in reclyner. Getting up and down is the hardest for me. I try not to use stomach muscles to get up and down but cant' help it and ouchie lol. I got stuck in the bed a little while ago, so back to the reclyner. I so much wanted to get in the real bed. Maybe a couple more reclyner nights. I'm not hungry. I am sipping protein shakes and water of course. And to make the nausa med taste better after crushing, I'm mixing with sugar free punch, it helps it not taste like poison  So far no gas pain. I am taking a chewable gas x every few hours. I'm crushing it and mixing with the same punch. That's good since the stomach pain is quite enough. The meds are good though  Good luck all

Day 1 - A new beginning
Today is Day 1 of my new beginning. I see the new me on the horizon. I know I will have to take many steps to get there, but I'll get there! I begin 3 days of liquid pre - op diet today. I am having lap band surgery on Oct 7, 2010. I know I am lucky to only have 3 days of this diet, many others have had long pre op diets. Many people say "it's the easy way out" or "the lazy way", whatever lol. Why do you care how I lose weight? If it is easy, I say GOOD !! I've been dieting my entire life. If this makes it easier, then good! Actually, I wish the lap band would be easy. But the reality is that it will be work. It will help me control my portions, but I will have to watch what I eat, exercise and have self control. With the help of the lap band, I hope to finally lose the weight and keep it off. I have heard some people call it "cheating" and I really don't get that. Who or what am I cheating? Death? Am I cheating you by having a lap band? Am I cheating myself? No and no. So all I can say is get over it and go look in your own mirror, I am the only one who has to look in mine. I am ready for my new life, I have been preparing for almost 10 months with pre op insurance requirements. I'm ready to get this party started! Woo hoo! A new beginning sounds full of promise. The year 2010 has been full of prepping: I attended initial weight loss seminar in January 2010. February 2010-July 2010 I had visits with a dietician or nutritionist monthly for 6 months. I passed my psych eval. I went to a support group. Vanderbilt faxed the request to my insurance July 19, 2010. I received Approval July 22, 2010. My surgery is scheduled for October 7, 2010. I wanted to post all of this here so I don't forget the steps I had to take. Here I come new life!

October 2010 Bandsters!!
I am wearing some lose jogging pants and a big t shirt for the ride home. I already have a pillow in the car. When I had my hysterectomy, the pillow helped with my walking too. I would hold it against my stomach when I walked. ---------------------------------- Started day 1 of my liquid diet today. Not bad so far, but I can smell my office coworkers heating up their lunches as I type. I may have to go outside while they eat so I don't smell it all lol. Good luck Boo Babies!

yes's and no's
Don't listen to your brother lol. You could do it on your own, but if you are like me, you re-gain it and then gain an extra 5-10 pounds every time.
