What will you do with you "fat" clothes
I'll be banded in 27 days (who's counting huh?) lol. I have about 6 different sizes of clothes, so I'll be "closet shopping" for a while during my weight loss. I plan to sell the best stuff on ebay, not sure about the rest. I do feel the need to start organizing them all into sizes though. Right now they are everywhere in boxes and in the attic. I have saved all my Levi's since I outgrew them so fast and now they would be considered vintage lmao. Hello silvertab levi's I've been waiting a long time to wear you again!

Smoking... I know I know.
I quit smoking before a decided to get lap band. The extra weight I gained after quitting helped my decision to get banded lol. I used wellbutrin and the nitotrol inhaler. I smoked 2 packs a day and was determined to never quit. But a good round of pleuricy and increased cig taxes, helped in my decision lol. It was the hardest thing I ever did but I am so happy to be a non-smoker now. I truly understand what you are going thru. My doctor said it causes ulcers more often in a banded person or gastric bypass person.

Newbie; start Unjury tomorrow
The rules sure do vary from doctor to doctor... I have to have 4 unflavored unjury mixed with 1 cup juice each day, 2 cups of broth each day. Can drink crystal light, water etc. And also I can have sugar free jello and sugar free popsycles. Thanks goodness I only have to do this for 3 days (I start this on Oct 4).

October 2010 Bandsters!!
I went to my pre-op appt and I finally got the plan, I thought I would share Liquid includes sugar free Jello and sugar free popcycles. It also includes broth, juice, and Protein drinks. 3 day liquid diet before surgery October 7 surgery - Clear liquids after surgery 3 days liquid diet after surgery 2 weeks of pureed food 1 month of soft food Begin regular diet on November 25 which happens to be Thanksgiving day. Of course "regular" will still be a whole lot less than I used to eat. He said to think of pureed food as anything that requires no chewing at all and to think of soft food as anything you could chew without teeth, so basically anything you could gum LOL.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
My surgery is scheduled for October 7th. Tomorrow (Sept 8) is my pre op appointments and I will find out what I have to do as far as how long on liquid diet. My friend had the same doctor and got gastric bypass and only had to do 3 day liquid diet. I hope I'm lucky and only have to do 3 days also. Some people here have my admiration that they were able to do liquid diets for such a long time. Here are some ideas: October Orchids Outstanding October

Got my Date Today 11/23/10
I would go to a support group a few times. To practice, they have me eating small bites, chew chew chew your food now to get used to it, not drinking when eating, taking Calcium citrate and flintstones complete chewable. Get off the carbinated beverages now (hard to do for many, myself included). You could try a few Protein drinks to see what you do and do not like. unjury has a sample package you can buy to try all their flavors. I think Bariatric Advantage does also. (google their names).

what does this mean exactly?
It may mean 3 years of medical weigh in's. Like when I went to my obgyn each year, they weighed me and it counted for my insurance as a medically supervised weigh in. I still had to do 6 month supervised diet though.

This sounds crazy but it works!!

He needs to lose weight too but won't try...
Hi, I'm not trying to be mean, but being the non banded person in a relationship is hard. I've been there. It is stressful on the relationship and you being food police will make it worse. If someone told you in the past to just not eat something, did it work? Ease up on your hubby, it's an adjustment for him too.

Lost a significant amount of weight? Do people treat you differently now?
Having lost and gained and lost and gained and lost and gained etc. I have seen this come and go lol. I say "LOL" but it's really not funny. I agree with another poster, I would never go out with someone who knew me before but ignored me and then shows interest after I lose weight. I'll keep my small group of friends and my honey, they have stuck by me through all my gains and losses.

Questions about labwork?
My Vitamin D was low also, they put me on 1 high dose a week for 6 weeks (along with my daily calcium citrate plus D). I'm not really sure why they want your D to be normal so not sure if would delay your surgery. I would see if you can get the weekly high dose. Also, don't get the liquid Vitamin D. I tried it and it truly tasted like poison, even when I mixed it with fruit punch. Was nasty lol.

Dr. Brandon Williams - Pre op
So far my experience with Dr. Williams and his staff has been very good. I am still pre op at the moment but have a friend who received gastric bypass from Dr. Williams and he was very happy with his surgery and care.
