October 2010 Bandsters!!
It is probably nerves from your first surgery. When they offer you a valium or something to calm you, say yes  some people decline and then wish they had taken it. I've had 2 surgeries and I have to say it went fine, you are out like a light before you can say boo.

is anyone in corrections?
I would go back on light duty when you go back, at least for a week. My honey is corrections officer and has lap band, but was not one when the banding occured. You could also ask the surgeon where the port will be and describe where your belt hits you, he might place it higher/lower for you. I hear they have flat ports now? Not sure, you could ask about that too. If an emergency comes up at work, it's best for you to be healed. And those inmates are unpredictable as I'm sure you know lol.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
My doctors office has a pharmacy and store at the pharmacy. They sell the Bariatric Advantage at cost and also the Unjury unflavored. Both of these have web sites and you can purchase them there or amazon.com has them too. I've seen some people get theirs at costco. I couldn't find the no sugar carnation instant breakfast in vanilla, so I got some of that from drugstore.com. I'm stocked up and ready to start this party lol.

Super Picky eater... am I in trouble before I start
I have a friend who had the band about 5 years ago, she was one of the pickiest eaters I ever knew, would snarl her lips at most foods. She has adapted well, it was a slow process for her but she is actually more willing to try new stuff now that she is banded. She has lost over 120 pounds and still losing. Here is link to the food and nutrition forums, you should find lots of recipes for the different stages: Food and Nutrition - LAP-BAND

Not excited
I'm excited but not like a kid waiting for christmas. More like I'm ready to begin this new eating and lose the weight. I feel so bad healthwise and can't wait to feel human again. And feeling human again is something nice to be excited about

baby food
I am going to try to add the meat baby food to some soup, it should disappear and give extra protein. Worth a try. I don't think I can eat the meat baby food, would gross me out lol.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
Nosey people just drive me nuts. Just be confident that you have that stellar work performance record and you have that FMLA to protect you :yesnod: If they keep on asking you, you should mention HIPAA to someone. It is none of their business and they really should not be asking or talking about you. I hate nosey people.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
Many of us have to do these things due to either insurance requirements or the surgeon is protecting him/herself from lawsuits.

October 2010 Bandsters!!
All of you using vanilla protein powder, did you try mixing it with orange juice? Maybe it would be like a creamsickle?

October 2010 Bandsters!!
I would not tell her since you describe her as negative, at least not until your weight loss begins to show.
-
Has anyone else had this problem?
My letter from my PCP was more a listing of my health issues and that they would improve with successful weight loss which the lap band could help me to achieve.

How Much Is Your Lap Band Surgery Co-pay???
I think my co pay is $75. Thanks goodness I am getting it done now. My insurance changes in January and I would have had to pay $400 plus 10% of the total bill.

Excited for my new life, even though my dad won't support me.
Welcome to the group and congrats on your decision :smile2: Just follow the guidelines during your 6 month pre op stuff and think of it as prepping for the rest of your life. When you talk about it to your Mom, maybe you can do it in private so you won't have to hear the stuff from your Dad, that is a negative force you don't need hear during your 6 month pre op. If you do lose weight during the 6 months, don't let your Dad know, because he will say "see you don't need the surgery" and bring your down and make you doubt your decision. Wish I had the option to do lap band when I was 24, you have the rest of your life just beyond the horizon Good luck!
