  1. I pour the soda over ice then let it sit for a little while to lose some of the fizz. I do love the burn of a cold dr. pepper and it's something I miss. I tried it once and it hurt, so now if I really want one, I pour it over ice and let it lose the worst of the fizz.
  2. I took a motorcycle safety class to learn to ride. I don't have a bike, but it was always something I wanted to do. Also, you might get an insurance discount for taking the class. Good luck! One thing on my skinny bucket list is doing a zipline course. Not sure where, but it really looks fun Good luck!
  3. Wanted to reply to my own post lolol It's been 5 days since my 3rd fill and I am finally knowing what the lap band is supposed to be like. I'm not hungry all the time, I can eat a small amount and be full. So far I've not got any food "stuck" and am eating slowly. A Protein shake in the morning and 2 small meals is making me satisfied. Which last week I would have been starving. Yay lap band!
  4. Thank you for your post I'm so glad you are happy with your band and found that sweet spot It gives me hope that I will find myself losing soon. I'm still in search of the sweet spot, I've not lost any weight in about 2 months. I got another fill today and hope to find my sweet spot soon. This period bettween the band and getting restriction is depressing me.
  5. I think having an opinion and being truthful are good, but there are ways to go about it. I have seen a few people in the past be so hateful with their opinion that my jaw dropped and I felt sorry for the person they were responding to. No it's not ok to go to burger king twice a day, but you can say this without being hateful and mean. "you made bad choices going to burger king and cant' really expect to lose weight this way" is honest but not mean " wtf did you think, the weight would magically fall off? don't eat fast food, it's not that hard to understand" is an honest opinion but mean
  6. What is "redneck" about diet mt. dew? that made me laugh
  7. I have not read about anyone else having to have personal trainer and all that. Sounds a bit extreme and sounds expensive! Good luck
  8. Mine was like this for almost 2 weeks, on day 10 it started going down. Felt like I had just had a giant meal. I had mine on 10-07-10 and the swelling did finally go down, just very slow for me Hope this helps.
  9. Hi I was banded 10-07-10 and have that same pain, it is very slowly easing up. It is really depressing after almost 3 weeks to still have such a pain. It is not present all the time, but once I bend or stretch in a certain way, it's like a hot knife. I understand what you are talking about and am glad to see someone else who had it and it finally went away.
  10. Thanks for the replies, I'll try the warm salt water thing
  11. So did the top 2 posters ever get a diagnosis?
  12. If the pain is about 2 inches to the right of navel then I am having it too. I am 9 days post op. I am hopefully going to see my surgeon again this week to discuss it. I was told it is port suture(s) that holds it down, but why would it be 3 inches below the port? The one who told me had very foreign accent and seemed in a hurry to see next patient and I didn't get the full discussion I wanted. So I am going this week to discuss it again with my surgeon, not his subordinate. It hurts me when I get up and down and is extreme, like a 9 out of 1-10 on pain scale. It's fast then goes away. Like being stabbed. It's really messing with my plans to walk, so now I'm not smoking, not eating ,can barely drink and not have pain messing with my mobility. Geez. Oh yea, no caffeine or cokes lol. I'm still swollen and bloated from surgery and only lost 3 pounds since surgery lol. I know it will get better but I could cry
  13. Hi: I was banded Oct 7 2010 and have a sore spot on roof of my mouth. It kind of looks like a scrape, do you think it's possible the anesthesia tube scraped the roof of my mouth? I felt the soreness but just saw the spot last night I had been thinking it was just sore throat from the surgery until I saw the spot. It is white and reminds me of when I had strep throat but not in the same spot as strep throat, just same color. Does white mean infection? I do plan to contact my doctors office on Monday, but just wondered if anyone else had a clue I am still bloated and swollen 9 days from surgery. I have a 10cc band, they said they put 3cc in it during surgery. I'm having trouble getting all my liquids in, do you think it's because the band isn't empty and I'm still healing from swelling? Ugh. I tried to search for my answer and not do a post surgery question, but couldn't find an answer for my throat question.
  14. Yes, I would go to the doctor. Call them and describe the pain and let them take it from there.
  15. crush your pills to powder and mix with some juice or something
  16. I plan to lol. My boss even knows I could come back in a week or two, but said go for it. He just had gastric bypass and enjoyed his 6 weeks off I think.
  17. Hey Boo-tiful Bandsters of October 2010. I saw a post op thread for us in the post lap band forum, here is link: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f178/october-2010-bootiful-bandsters-thread-122609/
  18. how about real broth and pretend there are dumplings in it I do understand the wanting more thing. I had 4 protein shakes each day and thank goodness they were very filling. I mentally wanted fast food tho
  19. Kind of like quitting smoking. It didn't matter how much someone told me it was bad for me (I knew this duh). I had to be the one who decided to quit. It's a good lesson to remember to stay on top of our loss, but I wouldn't bug them about it.
  20. Hi ! Glad you made this thread  I am 1 week post op, improving but have a pain by belly button where I got stuck in the bed and strained too much to get out. Doc said I ripped where port is attached but port is not flipped. I'm so glad to be banded and just can't wait for the swelling to go down :grouphug: and this last pain to leave me. Good luck Boos !!!
  21. I was nervous too, but just kept thinking about me in 1 year. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow Jojo  Pitpat: Are you allowed sugar free Jello, broth and/or sugar free freezer pops? The jello really helped me and I was drinking beef or chicken bullion a few times each day too.
  22. Are you putting it in the forum post or on the control panel? On top left of forum web site you will see the words USER CP, click that then go down and choose SIGNATURE. If you have too many lines it won't take it so you have to watch for any messages after you click SAVE or ENTER, whichever it is.
  23. I had my 1 week follow up appt today. I got stuck in the bed the other night and trying to get out of bed I had an awful pain next to my belly button. Since then, I've been having a pain that is blindingly painful when I get up and down. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, it is bad. I went today to follow up appt and he checked it out and said it is where my port is. He said when I got stuck in the bed, I must have pulled where they put stitches at the port site. Something like that anyway. Still have very swollen belly, he said to give it another week. I'm still full of water. I can start puree foods now and can have scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes and stuff like that. I have lots of soups just waiting for me to puree them. In 2 more weeks I can slowly start to add soft foods, depending how I tolerate them. I'm on pain meds another week due to the muscle rip. But other than that, I've not gotten sick at all and am glad I got this done. I've drank a whole gallon of skim milk since surgery lol. I decided I'm taking 6 weeks off work. My FMLA says I go back to work November 22 so I must do what it says
  24. Hi Grams :smile2: I see you got your ticker on your posts, cute! When you lose more, you have to click your ticker and it will take you to the site to update your weight. If all goes well, it should auto update your signature. I have my 1 week follow up appt today. I am going to ask about the sharp pain I have been having to the right of my navel. I don't think it's gas. It's 1 week from surgery and I'm still very bloated, more so than before my surgery. Feel like I'm going to pop or float away lol.
  25. We have a pretty long thread going in the Pre Op section called October Bandsters. Feel free to join us :smile2: Hopefully once the month is over, all of us October 2010 Bandsters can get on 1 thread. Would be great support.
