This sounds crazy but it works!!

I was at a Support Group Meeting this past weekend, and there was a new person there and she had been banded 6 years.

We eat band friendly treats sometime or taste new recipes to see if the group likes them. Well I got stuck on a meatball made with meat and added protien powder. Kathy the new lady heard me talking about I was gurgling because I was stuck.

She told me to use my left arm like a chicken moves it's wing, you know bend your LEFT arm put your hand under your armpit and move your arm up and down like a chicken or duck does with it's wings about 10 times. And it worked I thought she was crazy but she says she does it all the time. At restuarants she sits where when she eats her LEFT arm is resting on her husband's shoulder or on the back of the booth and she never has problems eating.

I know it sound crazy but it works and has kept me for having to throw up twice.

Try it!!

OMG, thanks so much!!! I wish I read this an hour ago, I couldn't stop PB'ing! yikes.

thanks!

Rebecca

How odd--I will have to try it.

I won't try meatballs with Protein powder added, though--if cooked past a certain temperature, the protein denatures and turns into a rubber-band consistency. (There's a real technique for using protein in hot foods--it has to be tempered, or it turns into a mess. Which doesn't really affect the availability of the amino acids to the body, but can make food clumpy and rubbery---which, for me, translates to "stuck.")

I plan to give it a try. I'd rather look silly than experience the pain associated with being stuck.

Thanks for sharing.

LOL, If I see someone acting like a chicken in a restaurant, I'll know what they are doing hehe.
