  1. Welcome to the club. I experienced a bad week with 4 episodes including vomiting. However, trying new foods was the cause - and food that was too dry. This is a trial and error journey. And for each of us it is different. I've lost 25 lbs. and feel marvelous. However with 35 more, I've decided to recommit to the band rules. I'm journaling food to be sure that protein, calories and carbs are in line. Great to know that vomiting won't kill us - just see as a learning tool.
  2. Wow and congratulations. And thank you so much for taking the time to share. Learning to change our lives with the band is very challenging. So we need to hear all the benefits. I'm down 25 lbs. now and feeling marvelous. Almost 4 months banded and the journey is becoming more familiar. Determined to go all the way to goal and NOT settle for less. Joyce
  3. Windus - hope all goes well for you. Thanks for posting.
  4. Renee - sending support for your decision and best wishes for your success. As some of the others have mentioned, for ME, it was not possible to lose and maintain loss. The band will NOT allow overeating. And, once in place, my experience is - there is NO giving up. The band forces me to behave and overrides emotional eating.
  5. Jersey girl - so sorry to hear about your home. Hope your insurance will take care of it quickly. Best wishes with your new knee. I had mine replace May 11, 2009, then fell in the hospital on May 12. Three months of PT. GOOD NEWS - knee is perfect now. No more pain and complete flexibility. Congrats on your wl too. Joyce
  6. Congratulations - you are doing so well. Good luck as you continue. Joyce
  7. Kendra & Froggie - Congratulations. You are both progressing very well. Weight came on gradually, and will come off (and stay off) this time. So exciting to begin to live a more active, fulfilling life. Joyce
  8. Hi Chuck and welcome to the group. Wishing you success as you continue your journey with the band. Joyce in KC
  9. Tweety - 60 lbs. - congratulations. You are doing fantastic. I've had my third fill and am very happy. Let us know how you progress. Happy Mother's Day to all.
  10. OldOne - so happy to hear you are pleased with your band. Feeling like 45 is wonderful. I agree and have the same feeling. Much more energy, so happy that I made the decision to have the band. Kendra - celebrate 30+ lbs. You will continue to lose once the fills begin. Remember (before the band) how many times we lost 10 and gained 15. Now we lose and the weight might fluctuate a little, but STAYS off. Be patient - when you are discouraged, look at some of the photos and see all the other successes. You will have success too. Keep up the good work and continue to make good choices, KC Banders.
  11. Good luck on your journey to health, Windus.
  12. So nice to hear from everyone. Congrats on all who are losing and happy and sending positive thoughts to others who are struggling. Coming to lapbandtalk helps me to stay focused and moving toward goal. I've lost 23 lbs and am very happy with that loss. Doctor is also satisfied. Let's stay in touch and remember why we wanted this band.
  13. Hi Windus and Welcome, Congratulations to banded living. Having a stuck epidsode is a part of your learning experience to know how your band will work with you. What physician will handle your fills? Lots of friends here to help you along the way. Joyce
  14. Congratulations, JerseyGirl - What an accomplishment. So happy for you. Enjoy your trip. Raining in KC for the next 3 days.
  15. Spartan - Love your humor. Well done.
  16. Your feelings post op are normal. This is a total change of lifestyle and it takes time to embrace. My therapist advised me to "welcome" the band into my body. Mentally to embrace that I had a tool to help me regain health and self-confidence. Take ONE DAY AT A TIME. Follow your physicians instructions. Stay hydrated and drink your protein slowly. Try adding crystal light powder to the protein to make it more interesting. Different flavors with fresh fruit. Be excited that you have made a decision JUST FOR YOU. Congratulations. Look at some of the photos of all the other successful banders and be proud of your decision. Joyce from KC
  17. I'm in same boat with all of you. Lost 18 lbs. then stalled. However, previous to lapband, I would have gained it back and that has NOT happened. So I'm thankful. My eating choices are very good, but I'm waiting to feel restriction relative to quantity. I'm confident we will all be successful, if we are patient and follow the program. Joyce in KC
  18. Kendra - thanks for the overview regarding Bandwagon support meeting. Weather is too gorgeous, you are right. So proud that you are doing so well. You rock, GF. I remember how concerned you were before surgery. So happy for you. Joyce
  19. Mom-I have a 10:30 appt that day. Please let me know the next one, I truly would like to visit.
  20. Welcome - Jersey Girl - happy to have you here. Congrats on success. Finding me - My fill was a NON event. I was so nervous and it went smoothly. Good luck with your second fill results. Kendra - I'm passing on the group tomorrow. Have other plans. Let me know what you learn. Joyce
  21. Mom-when will you have your band replaced?
  22. Jason - I had NO PAIN. Also no gas pain. I'm 6 weeks post surgery and have NOT had a stuck episode. 3 days after surgery I had a bit of anxiety. What will I be able to eat??? But, day by day, as I followed instructions, everything went well. The anxiety only lasted for one day and has not returned. Each day gets easier. Try not to worry over time. Follow instructions from your physician and welcome the band into your body.
  23. Jason - have you met with a therapist about your decision? Many of us took advantage of a professional to counsel us before surgery. Secondly, do you have a friend or family member who has the band who might sit down with you and discuss their experiences? This is a very important choice. Each of us had similar reservations about surgery before the date. For me, seeing all the success on the boards and thru friends and family, helped me to decide that surgery was right for me. For me, the alternative (not having surgery) would open the door for significant health issues in my future. Good luck making your final decision. Joyce
  24. I'm doing well - looking forward to my first fill on Wednesday.
  25. Kendra - How are you doing? Hope you are doing better each day. Thinking of you. Joyce
