  1. Right there with both of you. Made an appt today to see doctor and schedule band removal. Just not for me after 2 years.
  2. I hate the taste of canned products and buy it in large plastic bottle. Good vegetable source for banders.
  3. How I would love a small, local support group that met weekly to inspire, share and support. Feel so lonely in this journey.
  4. Definitely follow your doctors instructions. However, I flew to Florida in July and Las Vegas in October and had no problems on either flight. Of course, no food was served anyway, but thought I'd share I had no problems to relieve some stress. I spoke to doctor yesterday about an international flight (25 hours) to Guam. He advised that I remain on liquids during the flight - no chewing. FYI You might call and clarify if the liquid instruction is just DURING the flight.
  5. Miss Cherita - Wow - you rock girl. Keep up the good work and start that exercise so you make it all the way to goal. I had a fill yesterday and doctor advised me to start exercising too. We can do it.
  6. mmbell - welcome to the club. You will begin a wonderful journey to health. Your self confidence will return as you dedicate yourself to a new life style. Happy to have you join us. BTW - Have heard wonderful things about Weight Loss Surgical Center. They have great follow up support.
  7. Tiger - my appt is @ 11 a.m. Sorry about the ticker - I was never able to make it work.
  8. Happy B'day KS_sxy. I agree, take a short nap and enjoy your party/evening. Tiger - I'll be there too on the 19th for a fill. dm5201 - since you are hungry between meals, I'm sure it's time for another fill. Are you drinking during meals?? Eat protein first, then vegetables. Omit sugars and check what your total calories for the day are. Are you keeping a food journal? That might help too. Good luck to you.
  9. Welcome, Lisa. We are all here to support you. This is a journey toward health and renewed self confidence. The band is a tool, but you need to follow doctors orders and be patient. It requires life changes, but it works. You can do it.
  10. Nice to hear from everyone. All getting healthier and thinner in Kansas City. Let's keep working toward our goals. Joyce
  11. ks - sounds like a delightful weekend. However, you need to eat. May have to carry Protein bars or shakes to have while you are out. Tiger - good that you will see your doctor soon and let him guide you. He's the expert.
  12. Welcome - qtney1. Life style change ahead and better health and self confidence. Follow doctors orders and happy to have you in the group.
  13. Ks - syx - congrats - keep it up. Prairie Dawn - go slow and be patient. This will happen and will work for you.
  14. cakey - lots of information here on these forums. Read and learn. I've had my band for 7 months and my life has changed. I NO LONGER focus on food - I focus on life. It has been quite an adjustment, but the band is working, when I work with it. Dr. Terry Simpson has a website and has performed lots of WL surgeries. Go read about what will be required of you once the band is in place. The band is a tool, but you will still have responsibilities. Not drinking during meals, was a tough one. Making the correct food choices and exercising. Keep reading, then come join the lap banders. A new life awaits.
  15. Prairie Dawn - this is a very individual process. Each doctor is different and each patient is different. I've learned, doesn't really matter what amount, as long as you each your sweet spot. Glad that first fill is behind you.
  16. Welcome to our group, Jennifer. The lap band is a marvelous tool to help with weight loss and control. Dawn - don't worry about the fill. It is a simple procedure and nothing to fear. KS - 3 lbs. gone forever. That is one of the things I love most about my band. When the weight comes off, it stays off.
  17. Tiger - welcome to the club. It's just part of having a band. Meat needs to be MOIST. So bbq sauce might have helped. However, you are right - could have been not chewing well enough or eating to fast. I don't allow myself to be too hungry - or I eat too fast. You are right, it is painful.
  18. Welcome, Prairie Dawn. Lots of good info on these boards. Take what works for you and ignore the rest. You are doing great. Keep on toward your goal.
  19. Keep up the good work. Slow and keeping it off is wonderful. We are no longer gaining and becoming more healthy every day.
  20. You are doing so well. And congrats and figuring out the delay in wl. Keep up the great work.
  21. Congrats, Northern Mist. You are doing so well. For me, this past 6 months have changed my life too. So wonderful to NOT focus on food. I'm enjoying 31 less lbs. of fat and clothes fitting comfortably. Let's all keep marching toward our goals.
  22. Let us know how you do after next fill. Good luck.
  23. I may have to return to meetings to meet all of you. After attending a few, I decided to miss them. Too many complainers who were not working the tool and expecting wl. I need positive direction to reach success.
  24. Both of you keep up the good work. Always good to have the "first fill" over with. Then we know it is nothing to fear. Stay cool, my friends.
