Excited to see surgeon tomorrow
Hoping to schedule surgery date and begin pre-op diet. Plan to use their therapist before, during and after to wrap my mind around this life-long struggle with weight. From all the posts I've read here, this lapband will be the tool to finally conquer the beast. So very excited to begin the journey. :smile2:

Just joined and need input!!
Lots of information is here on this website. Your description of emotions and past pain with weight issues is very well written. Good luck in your search for the right physician to meet your needs. I'll see my surgeon for consultation on Wednesday this week and I'm eager to set the date. Best wishes for your success.

Week 37....Scale Moving...110lbs Gone
Congratulations on your wonderful WL success. Enjoy the photo shot - you deserve to enjoy and "show off" that new, healthy body. I had a tummy tuck when I was 50. The results were marvelous, but the recovery was challenging. Thanks for your comment on my blog.

Regret Telling Friends ...
Keeping my decision to myself and your experience with your friends, reinforces that choice. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in healing the friendship. It's my experience that those who have not fought weight issues, can't possibly understand.

Amy - your approach sounds sensible and realistic. Once I begin the journey, I'll follow your lead. BTW, it seems to be working very well for you. Joyce

Seminar Jan. 21, 2010
Life presents opportunities, if we only open our hearts and eyes. My son-in-law had gastric bypass and has lost 170 lbs. and rediscovered his life. After sharing a lunch with him, I decided to research options to change my life. A seminar was offered three days after that lunch - which I elected to attend. Since then, I've spent hours on my doctors site, as well as, here to explore the lifestyle and changes that would be required for LapBand success. My appt. with surgeon was scheduled for 2-3 while I was leaving the seminar. I'm ready for the date to be set, and for my journey to begin. OM and namaste.

Still on the fence about getting lapband or gastric sleeve. Any advice?
In her defense, relative to NOT returning, it takes some time to learn to navigate this site. And, as you said, so many of us benefited from the question and the responses. Thank you all.

the Emotional frustration is getting to me, and I haven't even gotton the LB!!!!!
A very valid concern. I am in the process of scheduling the lap band surgery and have decided to have therapy before, during and after to deal with issues. I've lost 30 or 40 lbs many times in the past and regained it -- and more. While the weight was off, I felt elated and threatened (in fear) that, at any moment, this slender, healthy body would return to the familiar body that I hated. And.......it always did. Self-fulfiling prophecy, perhaps. I spent about an hour today completing paperwork for my surgeon. Another step toward the healthy body that I deserve and will work for.

Can't wait for Friday and to turn 60!
Wow - what an inspiring thread. Dyana, so sorry for the loss of your beloved daughter. I was thrilled to hear you are still connected to her "on the other side". I'm a very spiritual person and believe that is possible. Good luck to all for a great week.

"The Beck Diet Solution"
My personal trainer recommended the book 18 months ago. I bought it immediately, then placed it on the bookshelf. Sounds like I need to dust it off and actually READ IT. :smile2:

120 pounds down-My First Year Recap
:smile2: Wow, Amy. Thank you for taking the time to share your overview of the first year. I'll be seeing the doctor next Wednesday to schedule a date and I'm reading everything I can find to inform myself about this process. The constant support of fellow banders with an opportunity to have questions answered, will be invaluable. We each have our own journey. But the journey is so much easier when we have friends to travel with us. Joyce from Kansas City

Fear of inability to breathe
A question - I read about difficulty swallowing with some foods that block and won't go down. Does this condition make breathing difficult?
