  1. That's great you are off the bp meds. I know how excited I was when I got off mine. Keep up the good work!
  2. My doc. said if your band slips you suddenly can't keep anything down, not even water. It happens in 3% of cases, so the odds are with you. Good luck in your journey.
  3. Your weight will naturally flucuate from day to day. This is from fluid retention, hormones et.. Try to only weigh yourself once a week. Everyday flucuations are enough to drive you crazy.
  4. I rely on chicken breast, fish, lean port loin, tuna for high protien. Also started eating beef jerky for a snack, it has lot's of protien.
  5. That's great! I too used to hate it when they had to bring out the larger cuff. I love to hear peoples nsv's.
  6. I am glad the band is finally working for you. Of course I hope there is no tumor. That's good your getting checked out. Best wishes!
  7. Keep up the positive attitude. You can do this!
  8. It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction. You are in what is known as "bandster hell". It's the time between surgery and when you get restriction. Hang in there, it will happen. For a few lucky people the first fill does the trick, I hope that is the case for you. Good luck on your journey.
  9. You are right. I am sure the weight gain is due to the fluids pumped into you before and afte surgery. Good luck on your journey!
  10. Walking is great- like others have said gradually increase the intensity/duration of your workouts. I agree with others who have said not to use weights while you walk. However, seperate weight training will help tons. It increases your metabolism all day long. Not to mention you will get nice and toned.
  11. I hope your sister feels better soon. In the 200's for blood sugar is quite high. However, if she always runs that high than I guess that's probably not it. That's good you have a call in to the doctor. Again, hope she feels better soon.
  12. Sounds like you may be a bit too tight. It shouldn't be uncomfortable to eat or drink. You are right to be worried about dehydration. I have been too tight and hesitated to go in for an unfill. I suffered needlessly. When I finally went in, I still had restriciton after the unfill. You may want to call Mon. morning and see if they can squeeze you in sooner, tell them it's an emergency. Until then, try to get as much water in as possible. Hope you feel better soon.
  13. Sorry you are having trouble. I hope you get it corrected soon. Try to be patient, although I am sure it's difficult.
  14. When I am pretty tight, like after a fill it, takes me about 30 minutes. When I am a bit looser it's more like 15-20.
  15. Isn't it great to know your shrinking! Great job! Keep up the good work!
  16. I was cleared to eat solids 2 weeks post op. First week was full liquids (ie. protien shakes) and 2nd was mushies. I have a fairly limited selection of what I ate while I was loosing- here it is: Perdue perfect portion chicken- marinated skinless boneless chicken breast Marinated port loin Low fat cheese sticks and cottage cheese almonds- 1/4 cup fish boca burgers low carb veggies- green beans, yellow squash, asperagus, spinach et.. berries- they are much lower in carbs than other fruit Hope this helps and good luck!
  17. I agree, men have a distinct advantage. Their bodies naturally have more muscle, which means they have a higher metabolism. I love the show though.
  18. I agree-salad is not a slider food. Once you get to solids, salad will be great. Be sure to add protien such as chicken or tuna. Best wishes!
  19. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. So that's an average of about 10 pounds a month. Some months were less and some more. You can expect to loose weight fairly quickly at first, and then it slows down as you get closer to goal. Best wishes!
  20. Changing up your excersise- or starting a program- is key. It will really help in getting that scale to move consistently. As far as calories, I ate about 1000 when I was loosing. As far as meat, I like marinated meat. I buy perdue perfect portions. They are great- indivdually wrapped and a "perfect portion" . I stick the bag in the freezer and take out one at a time. They have different flavored marinades. I also buy marinated port loin. It is very lean and also comes in a variety of flavors. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  21. The 30 minute rule for drinking seems pretty standard. However, I was told 15 minutes and it's been working for me. Sounds like you are eating just fine. I believe it's ok to eyeball the amount of food. A lot of measuring and weighing seems kind of anal to me. However, I know it works for some people. If it makes you feel comfortable do it. You are sticking with protien first and that is good. When I was loosing I would eat about 4 oz of lean meat and about 1/2c veggies. Hope this helps and good luck.
  22. My surgery went extremely smooth. It only took about 40 mins. and I woke up pretty alert. Only needed pain meds once in the hospital and the percecet they sent me home with a couple times a day. The only time I was really in "pain" was when I moved around a lot. Also riding in the car bothered me. Bring a pillow to put between you and the seatbelt. I have been very successful with the band. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. I love my band and with the tool, I am confident it will stay off this time. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes.
  23. You are doing great. I am sure that working out has a lot to do with it. Keep up the great work!
  24. My guess is you are weighing yourself everyday. The natural flucuations will drive you crazy. When I was loosing I only weighed myself once a week (well cheated a few times) and recorded it. Especially if it's gettting you discouraged I would think about getting on the scale less often. Good luck!
  25. What a difference! Keep up the good work!
