Billy363627 got a reaction from Rob45 in No energy
vickie I am 5 weeks out and still am having a problem with energy..Until you get on solid foods you are going to be limited.. The anesthesia usually takes at least 4 weeks to get out of your system..Be kind to yourself!!! As far as weight loss the people with higher bmi lose weight faster.. So you low bmi'er don't loose that fast. You will get to your goal you just have to be patient. Get you Protein in and up your Water intake as much as possible. You will start feeling better soon..

Billy363627 got a reaction from bellalulu in Water Intake
I know there is a lot of differnt opinions. What my dietician tells me is that when you are on the liquid phase all your liquids count as water.. Soup broth, sugarfree popsicles, water, vitaminwater,,etc... But be aware if you drink gatorade and like certain vitamen Water and sobe life water they do contain carbs. I know there is propel zero, some gatorade type drinks are zero carb.. You just have to look but be really careful with the carbs and the sodium. I was counting Protein Drinks that I used water in as water intake.. they all count.. Also,,if you drink things with caffene in them they do not count..tea,coffee,etc..

Billy363627 got a reaction from BLERDgirl in 6 Month Post-op Carb-free Diet?
You have to have carbs even healty carbs for energy.. I keep my carbs usully under 50 but If i go over 50 the next day I go back down. When your body goes in keytosis you are getting less than 5o grams of carbs and all Proteins.. as long as you don't go over 100 grams of carbs you will be losing weight like crazy..

Billy363627 got a reaction from Travelmego in Vertical Gastric Sleeve vs Gastric Plication
I cant tell you very much about the plication. My insurance would only cover the sleeve. I know that it is turning your stomach on itself and making it smaller that way. It does not help with the chemical that makes you hungry. When you have the sleeve they cut your stomach out and it also cuts out the region of the stomach that makes the chemical that controls hunger. I think that I made an awesome choice, but there are a couple of people that has the plication here. I do hope they chime in..I think this will help you make your decesion. The biggest thing is to reasearch each of the surgeries extensively and make a decesion based on the knowledge that you find.. I wish you luck my friend in your Quest. No matter what decesion you make I think you will be happy with it. I know if I had to do it again I would not hesitate to have the sleeve again..good luck

Billy363627 got a reaction from Skinnyminded in Just For Today - I surrender
There are soo many healthy addictions out there. Volunteer at church or homeless shelter. Getting new hobbies like golfing ,flying model airplanes, putting puzzles together..Shopping.. . I hope that helps you out. There are soo many bad habits you could form to replace the food your not getting, but I am trying to get involved with something before surgery so I will have a outlet (a plan before it becomes an issue)...Good luck and not all habits are bad..

Billy363627 got a reaction from Day Dreamer in Frustrated that the Sleeve is "just another diet"
Well I can only help so here it goes!! Try upping your Water intake to 64 ounces. The akins bars you have for Snacks are loaded with carbs..try to cut them out all together. If you like yogurt buy some carbmasters from kroger and replace the snack bars with yogurt one yogurt has only 4 grams of carbs and you are probably getting around 25 carbs for the Atkins bars. You have to mix the food up try just eating chicken breast for a week with greenbeans for a week. I think you are getting too many carbs. I realize how much your struggling and I know it really does suck. You have to always remember why you did this and try to stay positive no matter what. I have been out of sugery for 9 months and I can tell you that I struggle every once in a while. Sometimes its ok to have bad day ( we just have to live on the hope the next day will be brighter and it usually is). Also the less you weigh the longer it takes. When was your sugery??

Billy363627 got a reaction from renniemommie in leg cramps on liquid diet
I woudl defentily talk to your doctor and tell him that you are having leg cramps he probably will give you a potassum drip before you go into surgery and might even keep you on one while your there. I would ask him if you can take potassum pills afterwards.

Billy363627 got a reaction from Just Jess in Introducing Jess... just Jess!
Well welcome just jess.. It is a pleasure to meet you.. I was sleeved on the 1st of February. I have no regret jess and I am going to completely honest with you. When or if you have this surgery I am not going to tell you that you will not be in pain or have nausea. I will tell you that it is very temporary and after all this passes you will be a happier person. I will tell you that you truely need to do this for yourself and no one else. My spouse told me before I went in that she was going to support me but my decesion to have this was totally on me. I really do respect her for that. I will tell you the only down side to the surgery is that when they remove you stomach it is permanent. Would I do it again.. Yes I would do it 100 times over. I know this is for my health and I am on a journey of the new me.. I have only one regret. I wish I could have done it sooner...

Billy363627 got a reaction from Miters36 in No Post-Op Special Diet!
The reason why so many doctors say liquids, thick liquids, soft foods the regular foods because the stomach is new and is prone to leaks until healed. I would be scared as hell if my doctor said that you could go on regular foods after day 3. Are you sure you are having the vertical sleeve? If you are the best chances of getting a leak are within the first 4 weeks. There isn't any way I will be putting any food solids into my sleeve until after 5 weeks of surgery..You might want to double check with them and make sure they are giving you the guidelines for the sleeve. I am so glad that I have the restrictions like I do. i really dont' want to borrow any problems..

Billy363627 reacted to Billy363627 in Negativity
I really hate the ones that say I have had family that has weight loss procedures done and they really messed up and died because they couldn't control their eating. What the hell!!! You know I have been doing research on this subject for about 6 months. People got to understand that we as people are all not doomed to failure. I am fully aware that If I don't follow rules of pre op and post op especially. I am opening a really big big can of worms. I know that I probably land myself back in the hosptial with a leak or worse.. I just don't get that people just can't be there for support. I talked with my boss and he told me that I should tell everyone at work. I just don't know if I am comfortable with this.. I just don't want to get back from sugery with a million of questions of people asking me if I am sick or dying..I Think I am going to write a letter the day that I leave and tell everyone at my plant so they will all know what is going on.. I have picked my best friends and I am going to tell them personally. They just don't understand that we don't really want their opinions we just want to be heard and understood.. Nothing more!!!

Wow you all are such a great inspiration to me.. I am being sleeved in late december 2010. Yall have really said alot that has made it hopeful to me to acheiving my goals..I have been a member for about a month now and I have really been doing some research on the sleeve and yall have really helped in answering my question without me asking..Right now I am really scatter brained. Going back and fourth questioning my decesion. I know it is over a month away, but I am as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs..

Billy363627 reacted to Billy363627 in surgery before the Holidays
I have a really big decesion to make I guess. I probably can have surgery before Christmas if I want. I just don't know if I want to..I talked with my docs nurse and she tells me that if you are ready it doesn't matter what time the surgery you will go in full steam. I really really want to have surgery as soon as possible. I just don't know if I can do this so close to Christmas. They said my projected surgery date would be some time in middle of December. I know this is a really big step in the unknown for me so I toss and turn at night trying to make the right decision. I feel like a new year would be a new beginning. I may be forced to have it before the end of the year.. I know there are a lot of of people in this forum that has had this done. Any thoughts or am I just over thinking everything..
