  1. This has been discussed many times... do a search for it and you will find pages and pages of answers... For me: I have two friends who had the RNY... one is 5 years out one is going on 3........... both lost around 120 lbs in the first year.......... I am very proud of them....... however, the one that is 5 years out never dumped, and has stretched out her pouch and although I haven't seen her because she has gone into hiding............ she has gained about 70% of her weight back and is thinking of getting banded .......... Friend #2............ just had a tt and breast lift and she looks freaking awesome! however she now says the honeymoon is over and she is fighting a 15 lb regain................. For ME................. I chose the band for MAINTENANCE! I can lose the weight..... I am an expert dieter, I am a volume eater, I suck at Maintenance! Because of my last regain I started at an all time hight weight of 272.......... my goal is around 150'lbs.. Today 218............ I'm getting there.......... when I get closer to goal I may losen up my fill a bit, BUT.......... if I start getting complacent and eating too much .. I will RUN not walk to my doctor and get a fill! RNY don't have this option.. if you stretch your pouch you are screwed.............. Plus........ we absorb the nutrients from our food........ RNY people don't............... plus I had surgery on Thursday and went back to my desk job the following Monday..... Oh... and if down the line I need a revision or replacement.. I say BRING ON THE NEW AND IMPROVED version of the band! GOOD LUCK!
  2. You are not alone... sometimes the fill mysteriously disapears... one of our April bandsters had it happen early on and she has been filled with Omnipaque which is thicker than saline... kind of like "fix a flat for your band" I have asked my doc about it, but he had never even heard of it...... Good Luck!
  3. WAY TO GO Jennifur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Held the "teens" over the weekend! Restriction is holding also!
  5. CONGRATS! (Love your avatar!)
  6. I think you are doing great!!!! Also, some people chose to go with a looser restriction level (similar to what you have now) and I would say that it is working for you. I've had 4 fills and today was scheduled to me my fifth but I am at my sweet spot and gave up the appointment................. as with everything.. YMMV ( your mileage may vary).... KEEP IT UP!
  7. Congrats and good luck!
  8. Unfortunately, the family member has to do it for themselves..... my mom is the same way, and until the person decides THEY want to emotionaly invest in this or ANY other Lifestyle change.. nothing will work, and they will just end up resenting you (the messenger).
  9. Welcome! Call your insurance company now and see if you have WLS benefits, and if you do ask what are their requirements.
  10. GOOD MORNING VIOLETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I held on to the teens for the weekend! Whew! Laura: I LOVE YOUR NEW AVATAR! OK... so I can NOT eat fried chicken... OMG it was sooooooo good until IT STOPPED and I spent the next hour spitting it up. I have GOT to get my protein in..... my fingernails and hair are really showing it. Oh.. funny thing happened Saturday.......... my sisters MIL (the fried chicken lady) is also a garage sale queen and my sisters neighborhood was having a community wide sale......... ANYWAY, eileen came back with a pile of clothes for ME... (she thought I migt be offended but insted I hugged her....... I'm wearing one of the dresses right now! All were stretchy XL's and paired with some of my Jackets/Sweater stuff ... .. I freaking feel like I'm one of the "AFTER's" on What not to wear! LOL............ me in a swingy clingy wrap dress????????????? WHO IS THIS PERSON?????????????
  11. Judy! Ugh..... sorry you had to finally become devirginized (in the PB sense) Laura: Sorry you have more pain but oh so glad that you have some restriction and hey... just think of it.. YOU single handedly have changed the way YOUR doc DOES his surgery! Your suffering may have helped all those that come after you! WOW I would also love a get together..... It would be so fun! We might even get crazy and come home with WWJD& Violet tats! Still at my sisters.............. her MIL is frying chicken..... lord help me!
  12. Welcome back Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dang it Denise you are making it hard for me to catch you! Terry: CONGRATS on 30lbs! and a big hug for the non smoking status! I'm at my sisters right now peeking in, but its about time for us to start working on her windows......... Have a great day!
  13. Terry: TEENAGERS scare me! LOL We only have 1 year left til our oldest turns 13.................. aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh
  14. After fill #2, and #3... I would lose restriction right 3-5 days before my next scheduled appt................... however #4 I'm still tight and I just cancelled my MOnday appt. DH told me he was going to laugh if I loosened up over the weekend. So I guess that has been my restriction pattern
  15. I took a break and am eating my lunch at my desk catching up..... MS_Jen: HUGS! 2 lbs is GREAT
  16. Yep, Jennifur... having my WC oatmeal right now... I had the cinnimon but now I'm trying the bananna nut bread.... prettty darn good... :waytogo: I am sweaty........ back to it
  17. OWWWWWWW COFFEE OUT THE NOSE HURTS! ROFLMAO at the Kat getting caught! LOL Good morning............. 218.8 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that makes a total of 2 lbs for the week..... and I was able to button and zip the Old navy jeans... but they are ultra low rise and not comfy..... but they zipped. I am moving our office around today trying to make room for a filing cabinet...so I won't be stuck looking at my pc.. I wore jeans and already have my hair up in a pony tail because I moved my bosses desk from one side of the office to the other and then didn't like it so I had to move it back........... maintenence is avoiding me! LOL I just had to pop in and check on my violets! Thinking about Laura!
  18. Oh and Haydee............... CONGRATS ON GETTING SOME!
  19. CHILDRENS TYLENOL and a set of ear plugs........ organic of course (typed in a smart ass tone)
  20. I think you have done WONDERFUL! We all want to lose fast, but our bodies often have different ideas.... our food choices and activity levels, heck even our Water consumption plays a role. Think of the positives............. my doc says you can expect to lose and an average of 1-3 lbs per week.......... 50-150 in a year.......... you are ALREADY at 42 lbs! Your actually right on target. I'm not a calorie counter.... I'm just trying to get my protien in... and I am also at my sweet spot of restriction... so I fill up very quickly........ I've been bouncing for the last two weeks.. I know it will come for me.. and I know it will come for you.. Just keep working your band and it will work for you!
  21. HIYA SARA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just gave up my fill appointment for Monday and instantly my stomach started growling!!!!!!!!!!!!! It OK though because I am tight.... the reason I'm hungry is because I wasnt' hungry at lunch so I only had a glass of milk...... Meeting went good... I actually got to go into a little benefits spiel......... I think all present were impressed.
  22. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tame those wooly mammoths! Good morning everyone! TracyK you are not alone! That is so cool to have a consult with that ps on BM........ hey maybe you can get a cut rate if you agree to go on the show! Pam: Married Life feels just like the Living in sin life.... when it feels different is when someone refers to him as my husband. Kat: Glad you dad came through the surgery ok..... my prayer for you is for your life to stay calm for a bit Jennifur: You are such a good neice! I have a meeting today with a big whig.. my boss wants me to attend so I can see what goes on at these annual meetings... it is me playing the game for when he retires......... he really wants me to get his job when he leaves... the problem is that he has a Masters degree and I don't.... the nuns are VERY educationaly snobbish as many of them are phd's. Most of them have no idea what I actually do, since I deal with the lay employees.................. so anyway...... today's NSV is that I'm wearing one of the new white blouse I bought yesterday.... (Size 16, black jacket size 16, and black dress slacks, size 14), but they are cut loosely and they have some give... BUT last week I could not get them zipped. My hair is up and I actually have matching earrings............ and new shoes that I bought last year but have never worn................ so I AM DRESSED TO THE NINES........ very professional............ Now that I am fitting into some of my old clothes it feels very good to dress up......... hell it feels good to give a crap again.... I am only now realizing how deep of a pit that I was in......... I know I've said it before.. but my beginning pic is so very painful for me to look at over and over again day after day on my sig.......... I don't even recognize the miserable woman in it........... to me, I've always looked like my most recent pic.... heavy but happy, sexy in size 16's........ I can not describe how much power my little band has given me over food. It is very freeing................... OK so enough with deep introspection........... lets talk about seeing our coochies! :car:
  23. oh and Paula! FLAUNT IT! YOU LOOK GREAT!
  24. My last fill which by my count should be right at 4cc's in my 4cc band.. my doc says that its probably a little less than that but he didn't know for sure since he's never withdrawn the fluid....... so I'm saying 3.75+ cc's and I AM AT MY SWEET SPOT.... I will not need a fill at my next appointment. I asked him how much the band can really hold and he said that he didn't have ANY patients with the small band that had over 5cc's in them.......... but that the large bands would hold 120cc's before they busted.
