Surgery in Mexico? Is this safe?
PLease Please Please do a SEARCH for Mexico ... there are more threads on this subject than you even have time to read. (LOTS AND LOTS of people have their bands done in Mexico) Most US docs have been trained by Mexican doctors at least the ones who have been doing US bands since 2001. I had mine done locally because my insurance paid... I would of gladly went south if needed.......... However, Denver (lapbandrockiesdotcom) has docs for under 10K Topeka Kansas (tallgrass surgery center) for under 11K I also think their is a place in Michigan that has similar prices.... Call around and again....... do your research! You could save THOUSANDS!

PROGRAM FEE?! You're kidding, right?
When I first started calling around.. One place wanted $750 as a processing fee if I didn't end up going with them... they told me on the phone that they accepted insurance, but in reality they would have me pay UPFRONT first and then try to get reimbursed from insurance........... (I CANCELED THAT APPOINTMENT!) I knew the band was covered on my insurance so I called a few more IN network docs and found one I liked... I had to attend the seminar FREE 1st consult $150 that was taken off my bill later.

Sorry You Did it?
I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!! I reasearched, I debated, I kicked my own ass.......... I finally faced my fear of breaking up with my best friend food, and guess what......... I DIDN'T HAVE TO TOtAlly break it off! Keep your fill level lose if you want to eat everything just less, fill tighter if you want the extra help to NOT eat those things... The band is there WAITING to help you and that is it. I'm sitting here in a baggy size 16, but when I was were you are now (preband) I was busting out of my 24's I LOVE MY BAND!

A ques. regarding PBing
OK... when she SIPS Water, does it go through? If she can not keep sips of water down then yes she needs a possible unfill....... But she may be just like me......... I EAT TOO FAST! I TAKE TOO BIG OF BITES! I DO NOT CHEW GOOD ENOUGH!!! All of the above will cause me to PB... my dh is constantly telling me to SLOW DOWN... it is so hard to remember to do this. I like to supplement my diet with those protien slams/protein bullets... (like a big Jello shot) the kind I buy from GNC either have 27g protien or 42g........ Also I have good luck with SOUTH BEACH DIET protien bars but my new fave is the OHYeah wafers......... Every morning I eat the Weight Control oatmeal w/milk..... I hope this helps....... and I guess the short of it would be to evaluate if its her band tightness or her eating technique that is to blame.

Help! I think my band has slipped!
How much do you have in your band??????? I have the 4cc band (which is marketed to fill to 4cc's) but my doc says it can be over filled a bit.. he says he doesn't have anyone with my size band over 5cc's in it... but others have said that a 4cc band can actually be overfilled to 6cc's.

plateau
I think you are doing great......... remember the weeks you don't lose pounds you are most likely losing inches....... get some old smaller clothes out and see how differently they fit.. I do this with Jeans........ they start out around my thighs and end when I can button and zip........ then I get out the next smaller size! (Im in my 14's now.........) time to get out my 12's (wearing 16's today and they are baggy in the butt and thighs.......) I LOVE MY BAND!

People can be so mean!
I agree with Julie....... it's about THEM not you.... however.. this is a Tracy Nugget (so take it for what its worth)....... When we are at our heaviest... we are invisible.. people don't look AT us they look THROUGH us..... so had you been at your heaviest weight it is quite possible they wouldn't of said anything, but since you are now.......... hhmmm how do I put this ... acceptably overweight........ you are no longer invisible and at times a target... so think of it this way....... You are no longer the invisible woman... you are losing your cloak of fat, and that makes us more of a target and more of a member of society. ... just like the guy calling Julie a fattie at 160.... ridiculous to someone like us who've been OBESE, but to someone who has been skinny their whole lives it might be that at 160 they have meat on their bones and consider themselves a little fat. ...... for instance.......... I have a skinny sister....... she weighs 150 right now and she is nearly in tears daily because of it....... I tell her... Nease...... when I am 150 I will be SO STINKING HOT THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO STAND MYSELF! So its all in perception and self loathing........ LOVE YOURSELF and if anyone dare's contridict you....... well just grab your shrinkin booty and SHAKEIT SHAKEIT SHAKEIT!~
