Anxiety Around Food?
i pretty much locked myself in the house and told my hubby that he had to fend for himself for the 2 week pre op and 2 week post of fluids. i was getting angry and him for being able to eat, and going to the mall was like tiptoeing through a mine feild of smells that would bring me a deep rage, but you know what? that was when i realised that *places like this are why im fat* you know..... its an obstical to get through the shopping centre without running into something.... if you go 1 way in the shops you are greeted with the donut stand!! if you go in the other way you got the ice cream stand AND the bakery, aromas to die for!!! you get smacked from every direction with punches that seem twice as hard as your twice as sensitive to whats NOT going in your mouth.... i realised that every time i went to the shops at least 1 of these stands would get me! then i would sit down and eat a huge kfc meal to boot! so in the house is where i stayed as it was the only safe place were i didnt get tempted (until hubby would bring his dinner home and sit right next to me where ever i was in the house, thinking he was being sociable....silly man) the up side is (in my opinion) this time of fasting is really time for kind of detox. i was a total chocaholic EXTREMEEEEEE chocaholic..... once i was able to eat a bit of choc it was so sweet i felt like i had a brick of sugar in my belly.... it was the most horrible feeling i had in years!!! needless to say, i havent eaten choc since! i guess we all have our battles.... i think its part of the healing....or should i say rehab!!!! god knows i think i might of hit the nail on the head right there!!!! if you dont go through all this maybe we are not truley *rehabing* there is a light..... i have found you can still eat things like chinese.... and normal yummy stuff but you dont have to pay as much!!! its great...have saved soooo much money on small portions or kiddies meals!!!!!!! <grins> enough of my jibbering... good luck...hope to be a bit of a help cheers ange.

Need advice- 4 days post op
Im about a month and a half out, and 4 days post op seems so long ago.just keep trying to do your best. you will get through it and it will steady up very soon. All the uneasy feelings start to fade and you will probably still trying to work out how to get the fluids in!!! i know i still battle...but it doesnt seem as devistatingly hard now. (boardem with the Fluid flavor will end up being the biggest problem <grins>) stick with it girl!i know i use to get frustrated with the *every day gets a bit better* comment...but you know what..... its 100% spot on the money! cheers ange.

Eating out of controll
i have to admit i went tho the same kind of thing but wasnt out of control...i said goodbye to all these foods one at a time. kind of like a disconnection. your pre op diet will start soon enough, and then its straight and narrow with no mistakes....so...i reckon enjoy it but enjoy it without stuffing it in! have a little think about it! ps if you havnt given up carbonated drinks, NOW is a great time to start weening!!! good luck!!! feeling like a train wreck!
I cant beleive that i feel so terrible!!! most of the time i have no energy, and if i do get a flash of energy it only lasts for about half an hour!!!! then its off to sleep i go.... i feel like a train reck! i found out last night that im averageing 3 kgs loss per week so i guess my body needs to be cut some slack!!!! what about my head tho??? my hubby is quitting smoking and had found a sweet tooth and a hunger pain that never ends... hes eating all this crap infront of me which is seriously hard but i am kind of getting use to it. its probably good timmng as to get some kind of immunity to watching everyone else eat this stuff (and not get fat i might add). SSSSOOOOOO apart from watching this go on also sending my hubby out to dinner with my mum cause they are all missing going out for dinner (me included)i finally cracked thisevening when i got a $1500 extra bill in the mail for my surgury!!!! i broke down. lost it....come unstuck!!!! and there it was that famous question....WHAT THE HELL HAVE I DONE! you know the one. i have never dealt with stress very well and this was a moment where i felt like a total basket case! i cryed/sobbed for about an hour and still feel like i got the itchy eyeballs!!!! i have to call the docs tomoz and see if i cant get some idea as to why i got this bill!!! i had an educated estimate that wasnt worth the paper it was written on!!! (unless they made a mistake) AAAARRRRRRHHHHHHHHGGGGGGG bottom line. i am totally screwed if i got and extra bill of $1500. :tongue_smilie:

hi AJW i was one of the unlucky ones that woke up with sholder pain and diaphram pain in recovery.... it totally sux...was in recovery for 4-5 hours with just as many shots of morphine!!! my mum was out of her head worried when they told her that i was going to be in recovery for longer than expected with pain related issues! didnt end up with a drain....probably the reason for gas being stuck!!!! I have to admit i too feel really slugish and tired at day 7 post op so im feeling your pain.... and as for the chicken broth!!!!! never again!!!!!!! i really hope we feel better soon.
