4 mts post op 10 weeks pregnant!
hi everyone... long time no check in. **sighs** bubs is now 5 mts old and an absolute treasure!!! as for my weight... PFFFTTTTTT i was breast feeding for a few months but it wasnt enough. she was crying all the time as she was hungry... the very first night she got a bottle she slept all night.... and i got the first good night sleep in 2 months. the thing is while i was pregnant i was being told to eat a bit more which i have apparently become accustom to and now am totally struggling with. i lost weight for the first 2 weeks after my baby was born and have been mostly gaining since. its not a lot of weight but more than enough to stress the hell out of me and start the whole weight tug of war again. its like my body is use to the sleeve and the intake and now without the demands of a baby, on goes the weight! i found while i was breast feeding and awake wayyyy more than i should of been, i was actively seeking sweeter foods which i found weird after not wanting any sweets during pregnancy???? i have to try and get back to what i was doing early sleeve. 16 months post op and my weight is like a crash with me in it!!! so upset with myself for not being able to control what the hell is going on. after all this time it seems i am still battleing fat demonds!!! do the ever go away??? what makes us slowly revert back even tho we have come so far. it seems i mentally may be a fat person all my life. **sighs** even sadder is i have come so far losing over 130 pounds (60kg) but still am nowhere near my goal weight!! yes my weight loss was excelent through my pregnancy after sleeve and yes i am battleing now from pregnancy issues.... and self control issues.i wonder if having to eat more durring pregnancy has ruined me now or this was just the normal cource of the sleeve maybe/hopefully its just a platto and all will start up again.... who knows!!! till soon Ange.

Birth Control?
if i were you i would be on birth control quick smart.... <grins> i found out i was 6 weeks pregnant after only having had the surgury 2 months. my doc said he wasnt suprised as we are eating the correct amount and have dropped weight and exercising well.... why wouldnt we fall pregnant!!! so im not really up on types but i would seriously look into it if you want to wait.... ( i went 8 years without being 'carful' and had to track to get pregnant the first time, then this second time was a drop of a hat without looking into it!!! )

330+, getting pregnant
Hi Butrcupz i was just over 330 Lbs when i had my first baby. im now down almost 60 Kg (132Lbs) and aiming to lose **half** of my body weight. since having the surgury in August 09 and having the sleeve i fell pregnant 2 months later and gave birth all before my first year sergivarsary! i continued to loose weight in the first half of my pregnancy and hang steady in the second half, all the while gaining baby bump and loosing weight to be able to *not gain* My first baby was the reason i had the surgury so i could keep up to her and not let her down....WOW what an excelent choice!! even with the second pregnancy so close to surgury i feel better than i have in years and can tell you confidently that the weight is still comming off!!! all my friends cant beleive how well i look after giving birth (expecting that most gain a few Lbs right!!!) back to your question...sorry started at 151kg (332Lbs) and was down to 112kg (246Lbs)when i found out i was 6 weeks pregnant (which wasnt planned but welcome) my highest weight was with my first baby in october 2008 where i was following the elivit ovulation chart to fall. it took about 6 months to fall pregnant. with baby number to we werent even trying and i was totally shocked to find out i was capable of carrying a baby after such a radical change to my bodies intake of food and water!!! the day after i had Chelsea i weighed in at 94 Kg (207Lbs)so i managed to lose 18Kg(40Lbs) in pregnancy and another 4Kg(9Lbs) in the 2 weeks following. Hope this can help you and set your mind at ease! babies arnt out of the question for those of us who were delt a generous set of curves. till soon Ange :thumbup1:

Considering the sleeve and assisted reproduction
I think the biggest hurdle for me at this stage is Hydration. I do wonder how im going to be able to nurse!!! as far as my pregnancy is concerned, its been a walk in the park against my first where i was layed up sick in pain with gestational diabeties and then ending up needing a c section!!! weight loss surgury has helped my over all wellbeing during this pregnancy. my watch outs were as i mentioned before hydration. this is a constant battle to keep fluids to up to myself and bub. the second issue was low blood sugar levels. i was actually told to keep eating, changing the priority from Protein to carb over the day with more frequent imput. Other than that everything has been really smooth sailing. yes i did feel sick and a bit chucky with some foods but hey lol we all know THAT HAPPENS <grins> tired every now and then....yep..thats one of the joys too right!!! i guess what im saying is that so far, so good. if i had to choose which pregnancy i would prefer to have again from my first or second, i would take the second without hesitation. its been a breeze. i have had a few more docs visits, Vitamins and blood tests this time around but all with good outcomes thus far. its been a walk in the park with less weight on board, not to mention my very happy weight loss that the docs are also 'watching'. my baby is healthy so far and is looking at around a 7 1/2 lb bouncing birth weight <smiles> It can be done without too many hickups after surgury, hope this gives you a little insite as a "case study" thankyou for your congrats and if there is anything you want to ask feel free to drop me a mes.

4 mts post op 10 weeks pregnant!
Hi folks!!! been awhile. well im happy to report that i am now 33.1/2 weeks and doing well. i havent been on for awhile as i been getting a bit tired at night and just havent managed to get in here and have an update! A few weeks ago I was put through the gestational diabeties training because the docs were unable to get an accurate reading with the glucose challenge test. (it was wayyyyy too much sugar so i lost both attempts) the docs wanted me to track my blood sugar levels just incase so it just made sence to get me in the programe. well it turned out that in all the testing i have come up with some low readings with a few hints of hypoglycima. After seeing some specialists at our big mothers hospital, i was quickly reasured that the low readings i was getting were pretty normal and expected. most women experience some low readings at times. well i have to admit that i was told to start eating more, and as my low readings were comming in i was actually eating more, (feeling sick from eating all the extra morning/afternoon teas all over the place) but it was doable. i just had to keep my carb intake up.... OH and NOT give up the coffee milk!!! (go figure!!! been trying to kick that one for ages!) I was a bit scared to tell you the truth, but i was reasured that the baby will take what it needs, i just have to worry about looking after myself. it turns out that the docs were just making sure they were not missing anything by putting me in the progie. I am told i should have a normal 8Lbs baby this time (first baby was 9 14 so i was very happy hearing THAT) and that i am doing very well. I feel better than i have in years even at this later stage of pregnancy. im still up and down the stairs with no major issues and have only just last week stopped my exercise class, doctors orders. Its amazing how physically better off i have been this time around in comparision to the last pregnancy. im doing soooo much more this time around and copeing 500% better with movement and life in general. its nice to still have a spring in my step when i go into the maternity clinic and hardly even look pregnant against some of the girls that have that HUGE bump and gummy leg/hip. my weight has been up and down a little like 1 lbs up 1 down.....1 up....... 2lbs down.... so overall i have still lost weight, even managing to crack the 50Kg for those of you who follow the Kg measurements <grins> ohhhh 1 excelent thing to mention, i have had NO itchiness of the skin. i have been shrinking and growning at the same time which also means no 'extra' stretch marks lolol happy days. some of my skinny friends have got 1 inch wide streachies from child bearing and im truely happy to report this isnt the case for those of us with/previously had, a generous beam. till soon everyone. Ange.

My thoughts on pregnancy.
Hi girls! i soo wish you all the very best in your baby ventures. it makes me realise how lucky/blessed i have been. quick overview first baby 32 at over 330lbs about 8 mts to conceive second baby 34 230 odd lbs wasnt even trying. the weight loss surgury only encouraged my body as i was pregnant within 2 mts of surgury!!!!!!! i am now 26 weeks pregnant and still lossing weight, even though it has slowed down dramatically its still comming off. since finding out i was pregnant im down about 24lbs (so 20 weeks 24lbs) I would totally have to agree with the comments about if the time is right....the time is right!!! your body will kick in when its ready. god only knows that mine did!!! in conclusion girls, think positive and imbrace all the baby vibes at the shops when you see pregnant bellies go past. find the botton in heart that says im ready, close your eyes, take a deep breath and exhale! you guys have already done so much hard work no matter what stage of the game your at! i think if we can all continue to eat well there is no reason why we cant have the weight loss and Bito (bun in the oven) at the same time. good vibes from my growing belly girls. Ange and Bito.

almost 22 weeks and had a scan that shows everything is very very normal... all the measurements and functions were spot on average/**normal** got to love that! i am told however that i i wont know if i got a big baby till im much further along. i know i got a comedian baby tho.... ***baby says*** i want choc...... (only twice now) but i cant tolerate choc!!!! i eat it anyway and.... rot roe!!!! lol problems!! i havent worked out weather the tolerance level for fryed food/smells is from the baby or from the surgury!!! hope its the surgury tho. i have trouble going into a any space where there is fryed food cooking???? (one way to cure the old kfc habbit) again... very happy for that! it seems that there are many things that i have gone off since the surgury/pregnancy. most of them are positive dislikes. hell i have even started a few new habbits that i know are way better for me...and bub, not to mention my daughter! so.... many positives still comming. still craving some sweet naughty stuff... but...if i dont cook it, i cant eat it. moral of the story is dont cook it!!!! hmmm write that down angie!! cheers ange.

4 mts post op 10 weeks pregnant!
thankyou for all your well wishes people, ohh and due date is 6 July!! It seems that all the books i have read say that most sickness starts to clear up around 12 weeks soooo now at 13 weeks, i only get the odd sick feeling so i can conclude that the sickness was just one of those pregnancy deals that happens with or without WLS. YAYYYYY I have been having trouble exercising.... (and have stopped same as last pregnancy tho... another 12 week symptom, being tired) as i feel theres just not enough energy to go around but have still dropped 10kg since actually falling pregnant so happy days are still here. Hi Marci My baby is 14 months old I and thank god i had this surgury beforehand. there is NO WAY UNDER THE SUN i could keep up with my baby, and feeling all the general associated pregnancy hick ups at the weight i was before!! there is no way i could be keeping up with baby. I am hoping that by the end of this pregnancy i am still way more mobile than i was with the first, as i was able to sit and lounge around and relax at will. this time i dont have that luxury. i have dropped 100 odd pounds since my highest weight and think i am better equiped to not only keep up with my daughter but also avoid some of the joint pain i suffered last time around!! (fingers crossed and time will tell) I think the hardest thing for me so far is going to such extreme to lose weight and just getting my head around getting smaller, enjoying losing weight and considering the concept of maybe buying some smaller clothes to now having to wait/ put on hold that dream. my boobies are already getting bigger and filling out and my 'new' belly shape is also changing. At first i was totally devistated that i was going to be getting fat again, but now i just think hey...what the hell, im gonna lose weight, therefore not get anymore stretch marks. ha!!! lose weight gain baby at same time. ***laughs*** sounds greatttttt in theory... hey deedee I hope everything sorts itself out for you!!! wow! any plans in near future now that you are almost at your goal?? I also wonder about this baby and its size at birth.... it was an unanswered question that was going around my head. my girl was born 9Lbs 14oz so it will be interesting to find out on the day if my habbits have had any impact on birth weight. dont they say that babies get heavier with each pregnancy?? (that maybe for mythbusters) ohhh well the experiment beakers are out and time will tell!! lol cheers till soon Ange

4 mts post op 10 weeks pregnant!
so i thought it was time to start my own thread to keep you all up to speed on what the hell is going on!!!! (esp those who are looking to get pregnant after surgury right!!) I would love to.......***sugar coat it*** but...... it ain't gonna happen sorry!!! I will however start this thread at the begining and keep it running with updates. As you can all imagine i neally had kittens when i found out i was pregnant!!! you could of knocked me over with a feather especially when we were not trying and i didnt even know i had fallen (unlike last time where i was slightly sick from day dot with heart burn to boot) i was 6 weeks when i found out and from about 7 weeks till today (almost 10 weeks) i have been sick ALL DAYYYYYY EVERYYYYY DAY Last week i ended up in hospital with fluid/dehydration issues, as the nausea feeling was not alowing me to eat or drink!! i just couldnt do it!!! if i did i would be spewing straight away. it got to the point where i was spewing bright yellow bile as there was nothing there to go!!! 2-3 mouth fulls of anything was enough to send me running.... even the things that i thought i could tolerate were sometimes a big NO GO ZONE! (you know the deal, head says yes belly says no!) the penny finally dropped tho. i wasnt eating enough!!! my dietition gave me extra Protein drinks to cure the dehydration and bump up the fluids (which was sooooo much easier to get in) BUT in doing so there was nothing for my stomach to work on, so when something come into my belly it felt like a total violation, and the reject botton would be hit! after comming out of hospital i forced myself to eat (even if the food was outside my guidelines). cheese and toast were a safe bets and unfortunatley so was choclate (which i thought i had kicked) ((as i take another bite :w00t:)) nuts have been a good small snack too! toast in the morning and toasted cheese sandwich for lunch are safe as houses (go figure hey!!!) I did tell my surgon that i was pregnant and he congratulated me and told me to look after myself. it turns out that, that concept is actually quiet hard!!! I might also add that i have still been losing weight!!! in the 9 weekly weigh ins i have had over the last 10 weeks, i have lost 8KG/17.5 Lbs YIPPY Keep you all posted cheers Ange.

My future babies
fertile myrtle is about right!!! i had my surgury 10 August 2009 and at 3 months out of surgury im 7 weeks pregnant!!!! omg!!! I called my dietition straight away and im now on 1 slow release multi and elivit (translation 2 x horse tablets) I then called my surgon who was very happy for me and told me not to worry about a thing. bottom line is this..... there are people in the world starving having babies. The baby will take what it needs. The responsibility is now on my head to make sure i simply follow my outlines *shrugs* he said that if anything i was in better condition now than ever before, you knowwwww looking after yourself eating well, exercising daily and dropping bucket loads of weight!!! what better conditions to fall pregnant!!! so.... at 7 1/2 weeks i feel sick as!!! i didnt get morning sickness with my first baby (well not like this anyway) i am having trouble eating and drinking....all day!!! The desire to eat has gone out the window (unless its something i really shouldnt be eating) typical craving right!!! anywho... will keep you all posted cheers ange.

empowering elements
Hi everyone I just wanted to share my **success** story, even tho i am only 2 months out i have learnt soooo much already. I realllly cant beleive how far i have come with food records, will power and brain training. i remember before surgury i was reading how people did this about face with habbits and lifestyle and was kind of scared for myself that i couldnt toe the line, get it right. i didnt want to lose the battle yet again, but heres the thing.....i have lost 80 lbs (half myself and half with the sleeve) and now, for the first time in my life i have some control over my food intake. i take great delight in having a small portion 6 times a day i dont ever feel hungry and last but not least i finally got my head around it all...to feel like i am free from the slavery of a choc and take out addiction is a mirical in itself and so felling ill after eating/drinking a small treat is a very good reason not to do it again!! even while i am still in a 250lb body im starting to feel like i have the mantality on a skinny person which is priceless. i have freddos in the fridge that i havnt eaten *just because they are there!!!* they have been there a week and i ate 1 as a treat!!!!!:thumbup1: (previously would not of lasted 1 day) i find it totally amazing that everything is really looking so bright.... the fog is lifting and the rythem is working for me. exercise is comming into my life without pressureing myself to do it. my choices in food are better and i loveeee making dinner and putting serves in the freezer for lunches later. NEVER in a million years would i EVER of thought i would be happy doing this kind of preperation. NEVERRRRRRRR. i was just not that person!!!! the tables have turned and for the very first time i feel im looking after myself the we should be looking after ourselves. knowing what i know now if i had to do it again, i would do it in a heartbeat. to those who are thinking about it, this is the best choice you will ever make in your life on so many levels. to feel like a normal human being not being ruled by mindless eating is priceless. to not have to worry about plate overloading embarisment is releif and to have a body that starts working for you a little better every day is total joy. the pride i feel for myself is empowering which makes all the positive elements spiral!!! im so greatful the spiral is going in the right direction now! I honestly feel like a different person when it comes to this part of my life and truely never thought it possible to train my brain to opperate like this!! its now clear to me that this surgury was by far soooo much more than just weight loss surgury, it was/is a positive adjustment to my inner self that most dont see. a lifestyle that i would never of been able to undertake under my own steem and last but not least, an opportunity to drop the self hate/self abuse and be friends with myself for the first time in my life. cheers Ange. wish i did this ages ago!

What do I need to know/expect Post OP?
minutes..... hours.... mainly a blur except for a bit of chest pain from gas being stuck in my abdomen.... days..... the first time your have a drink it feels like theres an air bubble trapped and it moves back a fwds a little... it doesnt feel real brilliant but its bearable. *laughs* in hospital they were brining me some jelly and juice.... i could hardly touch it!!! but you know what...... someone said here awhile ago that every day does get better... im now about 2 months out and have gone through many mental battles which i think is harder than the physical side. i dont look at shopping centres the same anymore, as they are a nightmare for ppl who are trying to control their weight!!! anyway back to the question. if you can keep focused on each stage knowing that every day is another day closer to being well, you can get through it... i mean you have to anyway. weighing in once a week is a great indication of where your at (not every day in my opinion) and every time you move up the food chain you will be filled with some joy/acheivement. Never in your dreams will eating healthy mushie food be such a pleasure/treat!!! who would of ever of thought!!! lol 2 months out i have to watch out for drinking too fast and cold meats... if you can heat them up its better as im told the small amounts of fat in the food melts down and becomes easier to swallow. after being on a low carb/calorie diet for so long, my once forceful addiction to choc is now gone!!! ****BELEIVE IT**** anything sweet is shocking really!! feels like a brick in your stomach and i was litterally sick all day after a small choc. cheese cake also had a hold on me but now, with the density of the cake 1 mouthful is often enough to satisfy the craving..... weird cause i would happily eat 2 or 3 slices!!! this is the best thing i have ever done... at the moment i am filling out food diarys and learning to use food rather than mindlessly abuse food which i never thought would happen to me from the depths of my wildest dreams!!! im starting to have control.... 3 months ago i was out of control. go figure!!! i guess im saying that the surgury is only part of the battle, and yes its a bit of a discomfort and learning your limits can sometimes be hard (not always tho) but for the benifits like control and somehow falling into this autopiolot behaiviour, is totally mind blowing and worth every second of discomfort! i think about 90% of the battle is in your head when you cant eat anything preop as this is the hard yakka transition/no mans land of taking the first punishing steps into a new lifestyle... i think i have likened it to rehab once before. It is tough.... no lies but again.... at 2 months out im feeling like i have more control over my life than i have EVER which means 2 months is bugger all in the bigger scheme of things! 2 months of mental upside down is a small price to pay for the empowerment that comes with the eating control, not to mention the amazing weight loss!!!!! sorry if i rambled ange.

Another Newbie Sleeved on the 21/9
yay... another brisbane girl!!!!! congrats on your surgury!!!!

Question for successful sleevers
I had these big space looking boots that were hooked up to a machine that pushed air around your legs... kind of like air channels that keep circulation in check. they also gave me a shot every day to stop any chances of clotting. the great thing about the surgury is that you can be up on your feet that day, which also promotes circulation. standing/walking/moving wasnt so painful so all this will lower the risks as well.

Super personal BUT I have to know. . .
