I was also wondering how many incision scars do doctors typically need for this surgery? Thanks.

i have 5 incision scares 3 of them are the width of my little finger nail and the other 2 about about the width of my index finger! the little ones are just red lines that you have to look for, the other 2 look a bit like burns! one of which is very clean!

good luck

ange.

I'm the same as Dange - the largest incision is above my navel and is about 1" long, the only other on that still shows up is on my left side where the drain bag was - it is about 1/2" long and fading fast. I can't even see the other 3 any more.

i didnt have a drain but im thinking that the one insission that is stilll a bit red and looks like a burn is the one that did most of the work for the docs.

My surgeon does it through one incision. It is 1.25 inches (I just measured it) and it is 6 inches down from the bottom of my left breast, start measuring right where the underwire sits straight down from the nipple. That is where the left side starts and it goes to the right 1.25 inches. It has healed well and I doubt you will be able to see it in a year. I have pics from the first day and I will take some tonight and post. I didn't have any drains.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
