Not being nosey You might be able to, since we all heal at different rates. I would not have been able to do it. I went home on day 4 due to my extended hospital stay, but getting in the car for the ride home and the ride itself was very difficult pain wise. My Dr had me using a walker the first week and I needed it. I am 2 weeks today and just now standing straight, though I could walk pretty good mostly straight at about the 8th or 9th day. Glad your doing so well Nina, my PS twin , Things are going well here. I got released to drive today, so I went out and made a short trip to Wal-Mart and the drug store. Since they don't make Spanx and the like for men, I went and got some Under Armour shirts and shorts. They say compression on them so I think they will work fine.

I don't know. I went out the last two days and am pretty sore this morning. I don't know if its because I went out or thee fact that I am regaining some feeling in my stomoach area and I can just feel it now.

Next step in finding the real me
Here are my 11 day post op pics. I am still very swollen and have some additional bruising. It is strange not having to decide to wear things under or over my "flap"

Thanks I appreciate that Thanks. Good luck in Iraq. Wishing you well. It cost me $8640 for everything, but then had to add an additional $1400 for the extra 2 days in the hospital

Next step in finding the real me
Well its done. I am home and in recovery mode. I updated on the Feb PS thread, but not here. lol So I had surgery on Monday. All went well. I had a little over 6 pounds cut off. I developed a slight fever and low blood pressure so they held me in the hospital 2 extra nights for observation. So I came home on Thursday instead of Tuesday. The pain isnt too bad except for a cough I developed. Today is day 6 post op and I can almost stand straight, still have to hunch some. You can see that in the pics I am posting. Will try to update with pics along the way. The first 2 pics are one day post op and the others are today (6 days post op) I am still very swollen.

Glad your home and doing well wow, it will fly by faster than you think. I am excited for you Its sneaks up quickly doesnt it My Dr didnt give me a choice, she always does it. Its no more of a nuisance than the drains. I actually used the pack to hold the drains too. I went to take out the pain pump last night. Thare are two leads. THe first one came out ok, but I was surprised how long it was, It was like 8 inches. It just kept coming. lol The second one felt like it is catching on something, so we just cut the lead and taped it to me. I will let the Dr take it out when I go Tuesday. Tami, sorry your under the weather. Hope you feel better soon

Thanks everyone. I am feeling better day by day. The swelling sucks, but I know it will go down in time. Karey, I have a lot of moles, I think thats what your seeing. I have 3 drains and in the pic you can also see the pain pump on my right hand side. Other than the coughing, the pain has been pretty minimal. Since I stayed the extra 2 days, my post op appointment was pushed back to tuesday. I will try to post more pics towards the begining of next week

Thanks for thinking about me. I did ok, was held in the hospital 2 extra night due to a low grade fever and low blood pressure. Very happy with the results though. I have to admit it hurts pretty bad, but it will be worth it I am sure. I have never in my life had a flat stomach, so this is very strange to see. Its interesting to see my port scar. I used to be about 5 inches above my belly button, now it is even with it. This pic is one day post op

Sorry to keep ya'll in suspense. I just got home. I was kept 2 extra days because I got a low grade fever and my blood pressure was low. I also developed a cough and head congestion which really hurts. Coughing is the worst. I won't lie and say it doesn't hurt, but I am very happy with the results Here is a pic from my cell phone 1 day post op. I will get into more detail when I feel up to it. Thanks for the concern and well wishes. Nina hope your getting better all the time

Great question. There really isn't much you can do about the loose skin. Their are factors that contribute to it, like how long youve been obese, your age, genetics, and things like that, but there is really no external factors that help. Excersize can build muscles to replace some of the space that creates the extra skin, but no real effective. I am having a TT tomorrow, so i think I can give a good perspective. If I couldn't get a TT, I would still be extremely happy. While I don't like the extra skin, I would take that ove the fat that used to be there any day. I am healthy - I am no longer borderline diabetic, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. I can shop for clothes at normal stores. I went from a 56' waist to a 36' waist. Hope that helps and best of luck

My PS never mentioned anything about a pain pump, so I am not sure about it. One of those questions I should have asked, but forgot.

DFW Doctors
I agree. I used Dr Cribbins in the same practice. They are a good team. Very different personalities, but both good.

I think you would do great! Comparing your pics with others on makemeheal.com, you are in the shape than more than a couple of us are with great results. I think you may suffer from what I do. I keep thinking I am heavier than I really am because of the "skin" I see when I look in the mirror. Its Thursday now, and still have not heard fromt he anesthesiologist. I am following up today. Not real worried about it, but would like to tie up the loose ends asap. I am wishing you safe travels and a speedy recovery. If I don't see you on, we'll see you on the other side Your getting closer all the time. Sounds like we all struggle with the same things when it comes to vanity and our weight loss Tami, wishing you the best I think you hit it on the head that others may be jealous. In the end, I think it comes down to what is going to make us happy. If that is selfish and vein, then so be it. My surgery is at noon. I have to be at the hospital at 10:00 am. I will be staying one night and will post asap
