  1. Well, I am going to give my 2 cents and then give an example of a recent experience that I am still dealing with. I have worked customer service most of my adult life. I have work for retail at Wal-Mart at the service desk and as one of the front end managers and currently co-manage a customer service call center for a mortgage company. So face to face and over the phone customer service. I have also been on the phones as a customer service rep for several years before being in management. I will reiterate what someone already posted, the customer is not always right. I occasionally get calls escelated to me and when I go review the innitial call, many times what the customer says happened never did. Also, if a customer is requesting something that can not be done, as much as I would like to, I can't. Maybe this is a bigger deal in my industry when it come to mortgages and escrow. Also, the way some people come across is downright awefull. While I never condone my agents to come down to the level of a rude customer (something that is unacceptable to me), but I can see how that can happen. Its hard not to take things personal when being yelled at and cursed at. I promise if you are upset over a certain situation, the key is to remain firm, but courtious and flexible to comprimise. I had a perfect example this last weekend. Our oven went out on Monday before Thanksgiving. My family was coming in town over the weekend for a belated Thanksgiving get together on Saturday. My wife went to Sears and bought a new one and it was to be delivered on Friday. They arrived on time and while they were carrying it in the house, they broke the glass door. They told my wife they could not get another one delivered until the following Friday. This was a major problem since we had bought food to cook for my family. I call Sears and after being transfered several times, got to the right department. I remained calm, professional, but firm that I needed resolution. She was nice a I felt sincerly appoligetic, but said next day delivery could not happen. Not enought ime. I thanked her for her time and politely asked for a supervisor. The supervisor was great and really tried to get it done for me. After 45 minutes on the phone with her, they could not get one out because the wherehouse did not have one in stock and was on order. I politely explained that if I could not get the oven delivered by the next morning, I would have to take the 10 of us out to dinner because we couldn't cook, due to their error. I estimated it would cost $150 to $200. After checking with her boss, she said that would be no problem, they would re-imburse me for dinner if they could not find an oven for us. I think that is great customer service under a bad situation. She even called me back about 30 minutes later to say they found one at another store in a different color and wanted to know if that would work (which it didn't). I could have yelled and bitched and demanded that we get an oven or else, but I think I would not have recieved any compensation. I know when I get a call, I am so much more willing to help out a nice person, but a rude person won't get jack from me.
  2. Way to go sstaab!
  3. Would that be anything like milking a cat like in Meet the Parents. Greg Focker: You can milk just about anything with nipples. Jack Byrnes: I have nipples, Greg, could you milk me?
  4. Chickie, you know I have said in the past how great you look. Just revisting the PS threads since I have my TT scheduled now. Thanks for sharing your fantastice results with us
  5. I have heard that. And would have no problem going. I have heard the care and after care are excellent and you are confirming that. The wife on the ther had... lol. She found out my Dr here in the US got his degree from Mexico and refused to go to him herself when she was looking for a Dr. It is strange that and older white Dr got his degree from Mexico, but I have used him for about 12 years and think he is a good Dr, so not about to change Thank you, nervous and excited at the same time :phone:
  6. Wish I could. I have heard nothing but good things about WLS and PS in Mexica, but the wife will not hear of it. SO to keep the peace, have opted not to pursue it.
  7. Hi Diane. Thanks for this thread. I have followed it, though I hadn't posted. I appreciate you commenting on my thread and know you will be a valuable resource for me as I start down the PS path. Thanks again
  8. I am scheduled in February for a TT. Surgeon cost is $6500 plus hospital and anesthesiologistand misc. I was given a ball park of about $9100 total cost
  9. Can we let this die already! Its old, like 6 months ago. I had an idea, people got pissy about it and thats thats. It aint gonna happen. Let it drop please.
  10. I don't have time to real all 300 + posts. But as the father of a bi-racial son. I would never use the word or allow that language in my house. Period. You can try to justify different races using it, but the bottom line is that the word originates as a heteful work, meant only to demean a particular race. To me, it can never be used in a good or acceptible way
  11. ok, I certainly respect anyone's choice to be a vegiarian or vegan. Iwish I had the disciple to do it, but I love meat to much. I have heard it healthier and all that. But the crap about eating meat causes global warming is too much. Get a life.
  12. lots of skin here. But mainly on my stomach. My arms are good and thankfully no man boobs for me. My thighs are bad too, but they don't effect the way my clothes fit like my stomach does. I am scheduled for a Tummy Tuck on Feb 11th.

  14. Them is fightin words! LOL
  15. I have to agree with everyone. I guess a year and a half out makes me an oldie, maybe not. But I don't mind encouraging others and givng my experiences, but I won't validate someone making bad descisions and teliing them it is ok to do so. And I will only say so if they put the question out their. I will encourage them to get back on track. Hell, I need that myself sometimes.
  16. Well, its time to start this new aspect to my WLS journey. I had Lap-Band in May 2006. I lost approx 150 pounds in 9 1/2 months and have been maintaining my weight since February of this year. Its been a good ride so for. I thought when I began this WLS journey, that I wouldn't want PS. My goal was to be healthy and not care what I looked like. I have a good life, a supportive wife and family and wanted to loose the weight to spend more time with them. Well here I am a year and a half later and just got put on the books for abdominaplasty on February 11th 2008. It seems so far away, but my job and my wife's job keeps us busy during the end of the year and as a corporate accountant, my wife is busy finishing up the books in January. She wants to take a week off when I have the surgery to help me out, so I don't mind waiting for that. This will probably be the only thing I have worked on. My arms are fine and no real man boobs to speak of. My thighs are bad, but don't effect the way my clothes fit. But, the stomach has to go. Clothes don't look good even when they fit and I am tired of lifting my flap to wash under it. Sounds gross, but I am sure many of you can relate I am nervous and excited at the same time. I have been to 2 consults and have decided on a Dr. She is very good and comes recommended by my Band Dr. That gives me comfort since he was great and I value his opinion. I have financing lined up but am still hopefull that insurance will help out. The first Dr I went to said it would be a waste of time to submit to insurance because I don't get rashes or anything. But the Dr I am going to use said there was significant separation between the stomach muscle ( It hink she said 5 cm, she put 3 fingers between the two muscles). Significant enough that insurance might pay. Not holding my breath, but like the fact that she will try to fight to get insurance on board. And with financing secured, if insurance denies, it won't be a big blow for me. I don't post here as often as I used to when I first started out, but wanted to update those who remember me
  17. I haven't poste din a while on here, but wanted to know if any of you guys have had PS post band (or pre band for that matter) I just got scheduled for a abdominaplasy for February 11th. Most of the PS stories I see are from the women. Wanted to get a man's perspective on it Let me know.
  18. I agree, a commitment has to be made. I had a lady at work ask me about my surgery and has in fact got an appointment for a consultation with my Dr. Last night she asked me if she would have to give up pizza, because if she did, she didn't know if she wnated to do it. I had to remind her that pizza isn't healthy even without the band (for the most part) and that she may or may not be able to eat pizza after the band, but more importantly, she needed to be ready to make big changes and be willing to give up some things for her health. As its been said many time, this is not a quick or easiy fix. Its a tool that takes committment.
  19. Darnell, good your doing your research. There are complications, but they are rare. Here is a good study. It, shows as I have read and seen in other places, that the complication rate is low. LAP-BAND: Statistics subframe Here is another that has side-by-side risk comparison with RNY (scroll down about half way) Compare Gastric Bypass and Lap Band Weight Loss Surgeries Hope these help
  20. Yep, i have a consult on Novemebr 13th, Hope to have it done in January. :Banane35:
  21. Good to know I am just an idiot, but do not have a personality disorder, wheeew, that makes me feel better I don't care to go back to that thread, you brought it up, not me.
  22. Well, since I started the thread and was vocal, I assume I am one of the "ringleaders". And that quote was quoted in the other quotes. so...If I am wrong, my apologies
  23. Wow. I assume since I started the thread in question, I am the idiot. Kind of gives me the "warm and fuzzies" to know I am an idiot with a personality disorder. Thanks Laurend and Wendell.
  24. Congrats Rick, I live in the Dallas area.
