Dear ready, thanks for backing me up...I thought I sounded like a b***h but its important to speak the truth...this is an epic struggle and not for wimps! My first year or so was insane but now I am at a point where it is pretty easy...I just finally tried on my wedding dress (married in 1989) yesterday and it was the tiniest bit loose...life is good!

If you seriously believe he will leave you if you dont lose weight or that he'll leave you if he gets thin...this is not a solid relationship in the first place...not one to bring a child into! Get some counseling!!! This needs to be fixed BEFORE you are even thinking of having a child...

You should be much more scared of staying obese! Especially if you have loved ones who dont want to live without you or children that you are showing how to be obese!
Yes they could take it out but ...I know if I had mine out I would gain my weight back.

The other day my huz picked up my jeans and said they look like from the childrens department! I LOVE my band!

Congrats LadyT!!! I am in the same place! Do you ever pull those size 6s out of the dryer and think theres no way you will get into them or that they belong to one of the kids?

I also have a 10cc band and I had my first green zone at 6cc. Then I lost a bit of weight and felt like it was just staying exactly the same, no gain and no loss for weeks and even months. I got a fill to 7.7 and lost quite a bit more weight and then of course it leveled off again. At that point I was 155 pounds and 145 would be normal BMI for me. I went and got 0.3cc (total now 8cc) and lost 15 pounds in a couple of months...I have since leveled off at 140 and I am just thrilled.

How many people do you know that lost their excess weight on Weight Watchers (or any other diet) and have kept it off? Seriously, diet alone has a long term success for like 5% of poeple. I have failed every diet and my band is the best thing I ever did!

I think the body makes a lot of saliva and mucus to protect you esophagus when you are sick...

This is crazy! BOTH PBing AND reflux can be caused by what and how you eat so you cant automatically say you are too tight! This is just a band holiday and since I look at this as a lifestlye for life (I dont diet and Ireally dont work out) I am completely against unfilling for a holiday pig out!
I would expect a good doc to give you a similar lecture...snap out of it!

I am also pretty sure Dr Davytan is the guy who has a lap band himself! I almost went to him but even though I was a self-pay I thought I should try to find someone on my provider list in case there were complications. I went to Dr David Oliak In Orange (he has two other offices, one is in Brea) anyway I LOVE him and all his staff! They were great and I dont have any complaints at all.
Dr, Oliak stitches your band in place and has never had a slippage! I cant say enough about him or his staff! Good luck!

I dont know too much about them but are they the ones with all the billboards? That bothers me a bit as I kind of dont think good docs advertise with billboards. I had Dr Oliak in Orange and I checked out Dr. Davytan who has a band himself. Dr Oliak has a complication rate of zero...never had any erosions, slippage, port flips etc. He sews your band in place so it really cant slip and he has a mesh procedure for the port so I dont think it can flip. I love that guy and feel like I owe him my (new) life!

I just wanted to add that I had pretty bad knee and low back arthritis and that now that I am at normal weight my knees are totally normal and pain free but my back still hurts...weird! Maybe the knees are a lot more affected by the weight on them! (I was almost needing a cane for my knees before getting banded)

Totally normal as our weight does fluctuate quite a bit...keep doing what you are doing. Its for a lifetime and it will make a difference!

I don not have any food of sin. I can and do eat everything and my band keeps the quantity in moderation. That is one of the best things about having the band is I can eat some so-called bad food but not enough of it to affect my weight.

Ok this is going to sound harsh but if a physician cant access your port, you need a new doc!

Not sure what you mean by MOST of us. That implies more than half of banders are not happy with it and the statistics say otherwise. I feel for you but the band works for MOST people. Its not really luck either...it is HUGE behavior change.

if you are taking in less calories than before you were banded you WILL lose weight...its not a race it is a lifestyle! Be patient!

Go back to your doctor and tell them everything you told us!

I think that is what the psych evals are trying to determine but that is hard to predict...I didnt know if I could change my behavior enough so how can the psychologist really know?
