  1. I had from January 1st to March 8th to eat any way I wanted to. Insurance was approved but it was going to be 9 weeks to surgery. At some point it dawned on me that I was going to need to be accountable after the band, so why not start before the band. Also, someone asked me, "If I told you that people who adopt a healthier lifestyle by exercising and eating better before surgery are 20% more successful than people who wait for weight loss surgery would you start now?" I answered, "I don't know." They went on to ask me why not? I didn't have a good answer. I was planning on having surgery so I could be 100% successful, not just so so...I pretty much ran out of excuses not to do it. The conversation planted a seed that took a bit to sprout, but it did and I slowly got started to do better by my self...losing 23 pounds pre surgery was nice. Just an idea.
  2. Just to add to all the fantastic advice above: As I see it there are three parts to this lapband thing. There's the physical surgery, there's the behavior modification and there's the reframing how you deal with food. You got the band, you behaved in a way that supports the choices you want but the reframing stuff took you by surprise! There are lots of emotional ups and downs with the band, well with life...but looking at food in a different light doesn't happen automatically when you get the band. It takes sucky lessons like crying after Thanksgiving to help change that perspective. It's all part of the process.
  3. Never after exercise but frequently on chicken. It could have been an off day for you...see what happens next time.
  4. TX As rude as this sounds I hate you, you bitch! I'm so jealous of being able to ride like that! I miss it soooooooooooooo much! Otherwise, everything is good here on my end. Looking forward to my fill in Friday. (I sit here eating baked corn chips and salsa....) XO
  5. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/vegas-january-agenda-next-steps-39545/#post539344 The link above will take you to the more extensive thread about going to Las Vegas January 18-20th. Right now the list is really short (two of us) so the plans are less firm, other than we're staying at Treasure Island. I'm going to have a blast regardless, however, we'd love to meet more LBTers. Anyone else game? I know the holidays take everyone's cash, but if you could swing it, come!
  6. BG You are a rock star! That's amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Running is such a challenge but I really do love it. I can't wait until I can run a full 30 minutes. Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
  7. JC Were you hunting Dolphins?! Dude you've been missed! How amazing! Once upon a time you mentioned going to Vegas in January with the LBT people. Is that a possibility still? Glad you had a good Turkey day. Meeting the family huh? How nice. Congrats to your son too.
  8. Yeah, Smack yourself in the head until the desire passes. Really, when I'm good I can say, "Eating that will not get me to my desired goal." It's kind of a mantra. But then there are times when I CRAVE and it's rough. Really though I find the longer I stay away from that stuff the easier it becomes. It's staying away in the first place that is the problem! UGH! Good Luck!
  9. Janine-Golly, don't apologize for being "Chatty!" You've made a good point about being reenergized with the first of the year. It's true. It's like a fresh start, a time to look at things a new. I'll support everyone for not beating themselves up and I'll start with me. I had a super "bready" weekend. And while it was delicious, it was not what I needed to be eating to get to the goal I want. I'll just let the guilt go. As for wine or other alcohol, hehehe, yeah it's a quicker buzz so it takes much less. But it's not like you'll act any differently than you did before you had the band. So if you were one to get up on the tables and dance before you still will! LOL! Happy Tuesday everyone!
  10. Oh, Pamela- We are all very good. Thanks for asking. A is in San Jose right now for work. How close to you is that? I could get a map...we are talking about taking a long weekend and going there together, she'll work some but play otherwise. We are still going to Vegas but every other lap band talk person who said they would go has backed out or disappeared. I know it was long ago we talked about it so I don't blame them. So the theme for our weekend there has shifted form LBT to having a good time, just us. At anyrate, we'll be there in January, think you might drive up? Sorry to hear you're super tight. That's a bitch. I'm looking forward to being tight and losing some weight again. Ugh. Was all that food yummy and Germanish? I miss Germanish food.
  11. The rating system is like a Kinsey thing. How gay are you? For pity's sake, I don't get it. Being gay is more than how you have sex. The political and social ramifications go a long way too. People think I'm straight if they look at me. So I present as het but talk, socialize and screw as homo???? But using that scale only as a measures what makes you hot and bothered and that's how I read that scale, I'm a freaking 6. And only other gay girls get me there. Looking at straight girls or getting busy with them, they might as well be men. Because my interest is zero. Okay, back to work.
  12. Oh My GOD, How cute is your hair! You've got to love it! And look at your pretty outfit. NOT hoochie at all! You look fantastic!
  13. Biking weather is too far away. I can't wait! I too wanted to be under 200 for new year, but it's not going to happen unless I get a freaking tapeworm in the next week. D, I'm glad to see you are working out again. I need to add to what I'm doing, because I'm just not burning enough calories. Frinkin' Frack...bitch...ugh.
  14. howdy. Got nothing to add. Getting a fill on Friday. I hope it helps move this weight.
  15. I get my second fill on Friday. I can't wait. My weight hasn't moved in 3 weeks! Ugh. Happy Monday everyone!
  16. I was driving...but hanging out on the internet at work these days is a bit of a No-No. So I'm only here quickly. That's my reason for being MIA.
  17. I had a great Thanksgiving. Hope everyone else did as well. Happy Holidays.
  18. I'm checking in but don't have much to say. I've got a bunch of homework to do today. My weight hasn't moved in 3 weeks. My body bugg says that I eat 2580 calories a day. But there is no way. I'm starting to believe it's a piece of junk. OR there's an issue with having a fucked up matabolism with all this weight loss. Regardless I get a fill on Friday. I don't want to be super tight, but I need to eat way fewer calories. How do people keep it at 800 a day? I think that's what I need to do! Sorry to be crappy. Really, I'm having a good weekend. Hope you all are too. XO
  19. I have to say my wrists have changed dramatically between here and 97 pounds ago.
  20. I had a fantastic day! I cooked like a maniac, had family here, sent away nearly all the food! (note to self, buy more containers in the future). At 6 they were all gone. At 7 my friend had a late Thanksgiving for people tired of family and people with no where to go. An old friend I've not seen in 10 years was there. It was so good to catch up!!! Oh, and these are stylish people...I don't know a better way to describe them. They're not rich but fashion plays a role in their lives. I debated on loafters or my new wedge shoes to go with the jeans and the black turtle neck sweater. I'm so glad I did wedges. When in doubt always do more than less. What a nice day. And tomorrow I see my honey. It's all good!
  21. HP That's an awesome NSV! Keep up the great work! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!
  22. Lapbandit, That's a great post. I'm going to have to save that one for when I need a shot in the arm. I love this site. I get so much from so many people. Thanks.
  23. I'm not anti-TV....god knows I love it. But with school and life I don't watch it much. No wonder I missed the reference. You all have fun too. Enjoy the new hair and clothing and all the compliments on the weight loss as we see family we haven't seen in a few months. I'm cooking already and having a blast. Rock on.
  24. Title Nine - The Frog Bra I use this bra. I'm a 42D. It's holds me down very well. I have an Enell too but I bought it too small (soon I'll be in it).
  25. Aren't you a hottie mc hottie?! I want to see the hair! The vajayjay comment kills me! I've never heard it called that before... So many names for something so special.
