Gaining back weight; feel discouraged

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I was banded 3/22/06 and had lost 65 lbs. Then over the last year I had a series of events that caused me to gain. I know it was caused by my stress eating; 10 lbs to be exact. I'm scared that it's not going to come off and I would really appreciate any suggestions!

I NEED MOTIVATION AGAIN!

Thanks!

iam not banded yet ,but i know the feeling of depression taking over and how it talks to you and say its okay to eat this.i wont get banded till next month BUT ive been talking everyday for 3 months and i have friends that are banded, have you seen about getting a fill or if you already have go back to your old pictures and reamber how bad you always were in pain ,my morrings are very bad for my back youve gone through alot to get to this point and your so lucky you got banded,i know people that can't get banded because of no money no insurance,so your one of the lucky ones.iam very scared of becoming a dieabetic, and my bloodpressure is high.try very hard to reamber how people treated you ,that hurts me you don't want that,oh ya and then those people that would love to see you gain all your weight back dont give them the plusure.Iam telling you ,you will hate your self if you give into depression, and then you'll be depressed because you gain the weight back,if you can reamber something reamber this sayingwhen something happens bad (AND THIS TO WILL PASS)and it will no matter what all the pain you go through will pass ,but if you give into this your depression will last longer because now you have gain your weight back..

well that even gave me a lift why don't i reamber this stuff when i need it.be strong and dont give into any thing and dont let people try to hurt you ,you can do it ,but belive me there are people out there that dont care at all good luck,

Jen,

Take some time for yourself and get back to the plan. Get a fill, journal your thoughts, set some attainable goals.

Of course you can lose the weight again. And more.

We are in the same boat right now. Except you have done better than I for only gaining 10lbs. I've managed to pack on 35 in the past six months. Totally from me just not following the rules and not exercising.

My excuses?? Life has just gotten crazy. Work is so stressful and I've had some home stuff going on as well and I let stress take over and get me off track.

It felt like it was an insurmountable task to "get back on track". Sounded easy but it wasn't. But, I picked out a new theme song for myself (I find a song that inspires me and consider it my theme song for when I need to pick myself up again). I put my theme song on my MP3 and trudged off to the gym. Getting exercise really does wonders for getting our endorphines pumping again and makes you feel better.

I'm starting off slowly but I'm already feeling better and eating much, much better. YOU CAN DO IT!

My theme song may sound corny, but it's the theme to the Biggest Loser. Not because I think the show is that great but rather the song really fits where I'm at. Here are some of the lyrics:

We need a change

Do it today

I can feel my spirit rising

We need a change

So do it today

'Cause I can see a clear horizon

What have you done today to make you feel proud?

It fits for me. I need a change and so I'm gonna do it today. What have I done today to make me feel proud?...I ate good healthy food today and took my Vitamins.

Whenever I feel like going off track now I think about that phrase and ask myself "what have you done today to make you feel proud?"

I can totally relate to where you're at. I understand how difficult it is to get back on track but WE CAN DO IT! We really can and when we're feeling better the stress in our lives will feel more manageable. Come on, be a dork like me and find something to be your "theme" to give you courage...a song, a photo, a thread on LBT, a special item--anything that gives you inspiration and little courage and I know you'll do great!

Lapbandit,

That's a great post. I'm going to have to save that one for when I need a shot in the arm.

I love this site. I get so much from so many people. Thanks.

I am recently banded, so I am not exactly where you are with the band. But I have been where you are because of every other diet I have ever been on.

During my two weeks off of work, I have done a lot of thinking.

I have a very stressful job, we are over extended in time in almost every facet of our lives, and we have to provide financial support to others in our family who are not doing right by their kids. Lots of stress, I'm a stress eater, so that is why I hit 308 last November.

My conclusion is this, my family (husband and daughter) have always been first and I don't see that changing a lot, but instead of me being 4th or 5th on the list, I am now solidly #2 and sometimes I MUST BE #1. If not, I won't be around, I will let this God aweful weight kill me at a young age. My mom died at 50 from heart disease, I am almost 45.

I think that the band is as much about learning to use the band and adopting life long eating behaviors as it is about re-assessing your life to figure out what we really need to do to be happy and healthy.

You can get back on track...

the unsinkable mollybrown, you said exactly how i feel. i have always put my family first and i always will. but for the first time i am taking care of me and it feels great. i wish i would have done this five years ago. i turned 40 this year and decided to change my life starting with the band. still trying to find the right restriction but i am headed in the right direction.

the only advise i can give is keep the faith and pray. God hears and answers all prayers. just have faith.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
