  1. Kathy I followed you from the Vegas thread. I just want to say HOLY COW you are only 6 days away...not like I need to tell you...but I'm so stoked for you and I know you've got to be full of all kinds of emotions. You'll do really well. Being banded is the best thing I've ever done, aside from getting me a baby. WOO HOO, can't wait to actually meet you.
  2. She has a boo boo on her chest that just won't heal with out some serious surgery and keeping an E collar on her. Because of her age, I'm just letting it be. It doesn't hurt her, I guess. I love my sweetie, sweet dog.
  3. B Welcome dude. We are a friendly group and I'm so happy you introduced your self to us. Biking is something I always did a little of when I tried to lose weight, but never before have I invested money or time or my heart into it as I have done now. I really love the sport, and meeting people and what it does for my most shapely calves. (My thighs I'll save for "parts that look like ass" conversation.) I LOVE my road bike. I think I'm the only one who ACTUALLY rides one (ahem, JC...) out of the 5 of us. The other chicas are saving for thiers and JC is a big whiny baby who scared of hurting his boy bits by sitting on the seat. You might be too...but I don't know you well enough to talk about your bits. JC on the other hand, I'll talk about his all day long. HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've wanted you to get on all day! You must have been busy. My daughter is turning 6 on Sept. 19th. She starts Kindergarten next Wednesday. They can poke me a million times on Friday for the fill and I'm not nearly as worried about that as I am about my baby going to school. She's been in preschool since she was 18 mos., it's just that Kindergarten is the end of being a baby. You all just had me take a picture of my dog. I've had her for over 12 years and she's getting up there. She's a Weimarainer. I'll post a pic in a minute.
  4. It's open for everyone on the list! PLEASE come! Are the instructions clear in the initial post? I worry that it's a bit confusing. Woo Hoo
  5. Regular life? There is such a thing? I feel like I run from one thing to the next to the next! But I know what you mean. Looks like I can breathe come the end of September, but I've just planned a big ass bike ride in a different city...so that means getting a room....coordinating with other LBTers. Pamela, I have to say meeting you was such a treat I'm pressing my luck and my cycling buddies and I are going to meet in Indiana to ride come the end of September. You were so awesome, I'm betting they will be too. (Bad logic, but wtf? eh?)
  6. I'd call the hotel about getting a sitter. I bet that's a possibility. There's plenty of time to sort things out. Share on the board what you find out about the sitter. Others might want to know too!
  7. I'm laughing with tears in my eyes.... Oh you guys. D- What JC and BG said, you were probably trying to mediate the tension by saying, “the easy way out.” We females are trained to be self effacing, too. Mocking oneself isn’t horrible and we do things for all kinds of reasons. I think figuring out why isn’t a waste of time so you maybe not do it again in the future, but don’t let it bother you much longer. It was what it was…and you are who you are…Which is one, kick ass rocking, mother fuckin’ bikin’ babe. (I’m gonna kicked off this board for my language one day!) Now your brother doesn’t seem like he is the most sensitive of people. I think JC’s insights are really valuable. I love the tool line too. Good thing he doesn’t borrow tools, because yours isn’t borrow-able! He can buy his own. And chances are he will in fewer than 5 years based on your success. Now, that man of yours sounds like a keeper. Got to love someone who will let you wallow then kicks your ass when the time is right. Kiss your DH for me. (I always use a proxy when it comes to kissing boys.) J BG- I used Lamisil to get rid of my nasty yellow toenail and it worked. I had to take it for 6 months and it took an additional 6 months for the nail to grow in, but I’ve got a normal toenail now. I think that’s the drug name. They had a horrid commercial where the nasty animated critter lifted the toenail and climbed in. Remember? It’s a prescription drug but it worked! Otherwise keep that thing painted. Any really it’s the untrimmed numbers that gross me the hell out!
  8. BTW- Fart lighting is done bare assed. JC- I don't have a thing for your feet in particular, it's all feet. And really I'm either neutral or grossed out by feet. Like someone running around with HORRIBLE toe nails can just send me. Especially in the summer with people wearing sandels and you see some giant yellow toe nails poking out..........GAG ME! So, a person with decent toe nails will get a compliment, if it's appropriate. Like a seeing a picture on-line.... Don't mean to break your heart.
  9. We'd love to have you in Indiana if that works out! As for weight training, I don't do what your talking about, but I did do that about 5 years ago. I forget what it's called, but it was kind of a fad at the time. I do 3 sets of 15, using primarily free weights or a cable/jungle system MJ4 Multi-Jungle : Life Fitness : Commercial for my upper body. Since I've been biking I only do a two lower body sets, leg curls and leg press. Those are on machines. I do my abs nearly every day, on a ball, floor and the cable machine. I'm pretty agressive about adding weights, tracking what I do and I am certain to fatigue by the last few reps on the last set. I can be more specific if you want...like I tend to do 2 or 3 different exercises for each muscle group. Want to know what they are??? I really do enjoy strength training once I get started. Miss you Deanna!
  10. I'm not too crazy. Just a little hell bent on getting this weight off of me! I'm sure we'd all get on the phone once or twice before that weekend to be certain it's all good. You know what I mean? I'm pretty psyched this might work out! My girlfriend will be riding with us too, btw. So, yeah not crazy but queer. And my daughter DOES talk about having two moms at times, so if that's really uncomfortable for anyone I just want to be up front. The GF and I aren't demonsterative in front of folks, so you wouldn't need to explain why the girls are kissing, but it might come up via the kid.
  11. I love the idea of Sept 22nd! I have my daughter that weekend, so if HP has a teenager who'd be down for some babysitting I'd be able to swing it. I'll get a room at a hotel with a pool and they could hang out there... BG what will you do with your kids? (Bring them for the pool?) I know it seems like a lot of trust and some fast ass planning...but it's really a great thought! BTW, I'd be up for the 40.
  12. Funny, I really wouldn't want a child to touch me, but I see me poking my belly like the Pilsbury Dough Boy, like while saying, "you wanna touch"... Now if someone asked my daughter if she wanted to touch them, she'd be all over it! But she's 6 and doesn't get boundaries.
  13. Hey Marchies... This is a huge learning curve here with the band. I'm doing well by some standards, but the food quantity has been creeping up and the bad choices are happening more than they used to, so my weight loss slowed down. After taking a deep breath I've been working hard at getting back on track. I know it's easy to sit here and type and say what everyone already knows. Calories in verses calories burned are going to tell you how much you'll lose. There are concrete steps we can take to reduce intake and to burn more, but it's got to be in your head first. I hate to see everyone struggling...but I feel it too myself. Maybe this is the 5 month hump? Let's keep up the good fight!
  14. BTW, the dork in me got on-line and found the mid point between the three of us and Fort Wayne, IN seems like it is it. But we'd need to see what kind of trials they have there... Something to shoot for....
  15. girls- No panties...the seams can chaffe and that's not pretty. I came across that when I was initially looking for bike shorts so I've never worn panites with, but I can imagine it would be uncomfortable. (And I'm an always panty wearer, otherwise.) I'm not doing the ride at the end of September because of the over time situation at work that weekend. A girl has priorities. $$$ always win. WTG, JC. I did ride with the group today. My speed average was 14.5 and we went 23 miles. I'm getting faster and stronger. This cycling business rocks!
  16. Fart lighting is a HELLarious thing to watch. You need some drunk ass men...I guess women could light our farts, but we have more sense than that... It's typically done around a camp site late at night when the flame is more visible and people are more drunk.
  17. She's in between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek...But Toledo had some fabulous parks and rides. I had such a nice meeting with the woman from California in P-Town I thought it would be cool to meet more LBT people in the flesh. And this is my favorite thread/group of folks on here! I thought why not?
  18. HP Once upon a time you told what part of Indiana you were from and I long forgot? You wouldn't happen to be in the NE corner? BG is near Detroit and I could get to Toledo pretty easily...it would be freaking awesome to meet you both! J
  19. Part of me wonders just how few calories I can eat and keep my energy up. I really want to knock off the next 40 pounds. After that I start running and I know I'll run all the way to my goal! This is so crazy, and I agree yous guys are the best motivators in the world!
  20. HP that's 5.5555555 miles a day. You can do it! JC, You are such a dork. You all are talking about smoking ass and I just want to snicker. I think of hairy butt dudes lighting farts and having their butt hairs singed. I'm getting back into my groove too. I'm heading into the gym here in a minute and I'll be on my bike tonight as well. Should be a solid 23 miles again. I was thinking of a goal for September, like exercising 2700 minutes which would be 90 minutes a day...that way I could balance the biking with they gym. Any ideas? Okay, I think I need to get D's phone number next time she surfaces so she can be checked in on...I hate to worry.
  21. December 1st is the deadline for a head count.
  22. Thanks FBB, I do feel proud and I don't hesitate to walk around in a swim suit. What I want to do is say something to these kids who just stare like, "I can't help but notice you looking at my fat. It's really soft and squishy. Do you want to touch it?" So they don't stare at the next fat woman who crosses their paths. I'm a pretty big loud mouth advocate for acceptance of everyone. At the gym once upon a time, I was getting measured by some tiny woman and I told her she'd need the larger tape measurer. She wasn't paying me attention, and tried to use the smaller one. (I told her a few times...and was dismissed.) At the end when it didn't go around my hips she got embarrassed. I got pissed. I grabbed the manager and let her have it about Barbie's insensitivity, how it was a woman's only gym, and when a fat woman walks in she's really vulnerable, and how I'd show up at their next staff meeting and give them a lesson! Odd thing is she didn't take me up on the offer! HA
  23. HP (get a pillow, I'm going to kick your butt) Why are you drinking sodas? The bubbles are not good for you pouch! You know that, right? And the sugar, I'm assuming they are not diet, is horrible! That is so many wasted calories! Hell, eat some creamy, milk chocolate or a piece of soft, warm French bread with melted butter (insert a drooly Homer Simpson voice here) if you're going to blow 160 calories on soda. Ass kicking over As for not feeling your fill, do you eat mostly solids? Are you a soft food eater? I hope I feel mine. Do you write down what you eat? Just curious. And being stressed is so hard. I know when you have other real life worries taking care of your self by eating well gets pushed aside. It feels too much like work. There is also the comfort of all those horrible calories. Bitch ass calories that make us feel so good, it's not comfort food for nothing. But logically we know making "less than" choices won't get us to goal as quickly as making good choices will. XO
  24. Lucy, Marc, Stevee, Everyone.... I had the same thought as Lucy. Stevee, I don't have much but $25 I could spare. I'd be delighted to be able to help in some small way. Perhaps you can auction off your future scars. I'd like to buy two stiches. I'm being playful, but really, if you can accept our offer to send you some cash, I'll send you a few bucks. And as an aside, if you are technically savvy enough to set up a paypal account, it might be easier... Juli
  25. BG I'm so with you about touching the bones. I love it! My collar bones are kind of like a anchor (Old WW talk here) for me now. When I'm undecided about eating something bad or not working out, reaching up for my collar bones kind of helps me think, "Make the better choice." Does that make sense? HP- They said they couldn't get the port because I've lost so much wieght. I guess it's easier to find for the initial stab shortly after surgery when people typically get filled, then they have an idea how to approach from then on. Since this is my first stab, and I'm getting all gelantinous in the belly area it just moved all over the place. The doc really tried to manipulate it under my skin too. I told the LNP, who tired first, that he was pretty aggressive...she said, yeah surgeons have no fear, they cut open bodies, they'll pinch and pull ya too. He didn't want to give up either, but I was glad when he did. Whew. It feels superficial when I stand up but is impossible to feel when I lay down. So they had me up against a wall...I feel the fluro will be better anyway, that way they'll adjust it to pretty tight and we'll know exactly how it's positioned for future fills. Isn't that something. Oh, and by their scale I had lost 6 pounds in 5 weeks. But the surgeon and I had an agreement that I'd get my first fill when I stopped losing at least 10 pounds a month. July was rough and I didn't hit that goal, I knew I wasn't going to hit it so I made the appointment. However I'm happy to report I've saw 237 today. I've got to update my ticker...I'm happy to see the scale move. It's been far too long. That's a big ass giant posting. D-baby, where are you?
