  1. yup - I forgot to say eggs - I scramble them with some cheese. And yes, tuna and chicken salad - but with it blended really well. The nurse told me I could eat peanut butter too - but I don't care for it so I haven't tried it yet.
  2. mushy stage I am eating greek yougart (high in Protein and low in fat), cottage cheese, oatmeal, and anything that I can get smooth in my VITAMIX blender...lol If anyone doesn't have a VITAMIX - all I can say is WOW, well worth the money (in my opinion). However, for less money the Bullet Blender I hear does well.
  3. My 2-week post-op appt is next Tuesday. I am anxious to see what the scale says (I do NOT own a scale!!). My clothes are starting to get a little loose - I do not feel ANY restriction with eating. I am on the "mushy food" stage already, which seemed quick to me but the nurse okayed it. How is everyone else? I am interested in hearing how the post-op visits are going with the docs.
  4. after 2 days I was able to sleep on my tummy -- no problems.
  5. Gatorade/Powerade were all NO's for my pre-op diet. Too much carbs and sugar. But check with your surgeon's office they will tell you positively. I found the Isopure clear liquid to be the closest to the Gatorade that I could have. Good Luck!!
  6. Be ready to start the pre-op diet that your office requires. (remember, you and I have the same office!) 14 days of the Protein drinks - get the boxes and the shaker PRIOR to leaving the surgeon's office. Here are my fav's and my not so much fav: chocolate shake w/fiber **** Chocolate pudding **** Tomato Soup **** Cream of chicken soup **** pineapple Apricot Shake ** strawberry Shake * Hope this helps!! Good luck - let us know what they say on Thursday!!
  7. Hi everyone - I had my surgery yesterday April 28 at 8am! I stayed overnight - which was a good thing - About noon yesterday I had the dry heaves, NOT PLEASANT at all!! And then I vomited in the evening after downing the liquid pain killer. The IV pain medication has been working for the most part. No real gas pains yet, but lots of burping. I am VERY hungry, which seems different than most of you. The Protein powder in the hospital is the worst protein I have ever tasted. Couldn't wait to get home and have some good tasting protein shake! I feel some slight pain at the port site and the site where they lifted the liver. But it is tolerable. I have the rest of the week off of work - so those days will be good for my recovery. I do NOT have a scale at home so I don't know whether I have lost or gained - which is good, I don't want to worry over that. The weight will come off as long as I stick to the food plan. Can't wait to get to Onederland!!
  8. Here I go -- it is my turn!!! Wahoo!!! I am so glad the date is finally here - I drank my last item 30 minutes ago -- Wish me luck -
  9. I am getting banded tomorrow!!! Yea - the day is finally here - 8 hrs to go and I will be in the Opr Room!!!
  10. I have 8 hours to go before surgery - and I can't sleep and I am thinking that I need to pack to many things "just in case". Geeze - my husband says pack your CPAP, magazines, IPOD, hygiene stuff and that is it! Is he right?
  11. I have a 6 yr old daughter in 1st grade - and I told her from the time I decided to have the surgery. She can SEE that I am overweight - and she understood when I told her I was going to have some surgery to HELP me get rid of the extra weight. I have been on the pre-op liquid diet for 12 days now - and she knows that I have to eat/drink my "diet food". I have raised her eating healthy foods in healthy quantities. She is a little upset that she has to go to school on the day of my surgery. But my husband/her dad is going to bring her up to see me when she get's out of school.
  12. I get banded on April 28th - and have been on the pre-op diet since April 13th. I cheated the other day -- stopped and got a rallyburger....it tasted soooo good while I was eating it. But about 10-15 minutes afterwards my digestive system went wild on me -- boy it wasn't used to that stuff. So it worked --- reminded me that being healthy is the way to go - and keep to the right portions.
  13. Cool - I am going to be banded next Tuesday - April 28th- :rolleyes2: I think Dr Richardson will be my surgeon - I can't wait -
  14. Thanks for the replies ....... It sounds like milk in included in most of your pre-op diets? Mine diet does not include milk, just Water - mixed with the Protein shakes/soups Which made me thinkg that I could not have pudding, milk, etc. Hmm........maybe i will call my dr office and ask.
  15. I see the ad banner here on LapBand Talk - but I wonder if anyone on here has tried it?
  16. Ok - I am 6 days into my pre-op liquid diet. I am trying different Protein powders for my shakes - and I am about Jell-o'd out. Please post your favorite protein powders, shakes, allowed foods and recipes for the liquid diets (Pre and Post). Thanks - I need to get my shopping done and would appreciate your comments, ideas and recipes!! Getting banded = 8 days!!!
  17. Hi Everyone- I am getting banded on April 28th............and I am on day 3 of the pre-op liquid diet. yesterday was horrible - today is good - so I am hoping that tomorrow will be even better. Anyone else with an April 28th date?
  18. I have told a few people -- we had a "Biggest Loser" type competition at my work last year and I told the 13 of them through an e-mail, I told them that I was open to questions, comments, etc ....only ONE has said anything to me about it, and that ONE is very supportive! My husband is still not understanding it all - he is supportive. My daughter is my best support and she is SIX YEARS old........I can't believe it - yesterday at dinner while I was having my shake. She said "you are having your diet food?" and I said "yep, I am... and you are having your healthy dinner too." She then said, "Mom you having the surgery will really make you healthy." I almost cried!
  19. Hang in there and do your best today - minute by minute - only YOU can do this -- and YES, you can!!!
  20. We are cruising out of Galveston Texas - with stops in Jamaica, Grand Caymen and Cozumel! I have been going to the tanner the last two weeks - so I have my base tan going....hopefully no burning and hopefully no seasickness.........:tt1:
  21. Hello - My name is Stephanie I am 46 yrs old, married for 12 years and have a 6 year old daughter. I have been overweight most of my life - even when I was a competitive athlete - my family always made fun of me becasue I was the FAT gymnast! I had looked into getting the lapband in 2006, but my husband got deployed - and then in 2008 I started to look into it again -- and again he got deployed!! He is back - and I am now getting banded!! April 28 is my surgery date. I can not wait to get it done and start getting rid of this excess weight. I want to go for walks and bike rides - go to Cedar Pointe and actually have fun. I can not wait to wear a regular swim suit. Thanks -
  22. Yes - it is an insurance company requirement. I had already done one last year - so that one worked.
  23. wow - edub, you have had similar responses that I have....I have a surgery date of April 28 - and a co-worker/friend still can't believe that I am having the surgery. She says, "but your not that fat". She says I don't look fat, that I look athletic and big boned. (I have 90 pounds to lose!!) She thinks I should just have the will power to eat less and exercise more. Realisticlly she is right, but I need that tool to help me with that. The band will REMIND me not to overeat - The co-worker/friend that is making the discouraging comments to me -- well, I have decided that I can't talk with her about it anymore. I will not bring it up -- I don't want to hear her comments anymore. I need positive encouraging people around me, I believe I can succeed!!
  24. I can't wait to go into a Victoria Secret's and buy something other than perfume!!
  25. I am so glad that you posted this. I think many people go through what you are feeling, but just afraid to actually say it to anyone. Keep thinking the positive thoughts -- but when you get negative, get on this site and post - so others can give you a little "pick me up" talk. Also - I have found just looking through and reading other posts and replies (even from years ago) are helpful to me, to answer questions, relieve my worries, etc. Also - do you have anyone "in person" that you can talk with about it? that might help too . But if not -- keep coming on here and talking that is what it is for!! I think you will do well - the surgery will be fine, you will get home and start losing weight and you will realize that it was worth it. Keep me posted - k?
