  1. I was banded in Jan. 2009, lost 28-30 by 9 months, but have stalled. I fill, unfill, just cant get it right. It is fustrating. I now have returned to some exercise 3x aweek, hoping this will jumpstart me. I too hate that feeling one just being over filled, it hurts!! I finally call the doctor to get in for the unfill. the last good fill was sometime in last part of 2009! I went back to have fill this past week, in is not enough....the mental hunger, those bad habits of circling the pantry are back. I try to remember the band is only a tool, it cant choose the right foods for me. It's hard.

Dont give up, maybe writing down your foods, compare with a good week of some weight loss. Remember to chew slowly, use a smaller plate.

If I remember all this stuff at the table, I would be doing better!!!LOL keep me posted, love to hear you are feeling better with your fills. I will share anything I can with you. May you can give me some help too?? Sometimes having a buddy to ck in with might help?? God bless Patti with a smile :w00t:

  2. JennyLou, I had seen my cardiologist, BP too high, and he always suggested to me to drop 25 lbs.....that it would make the difference in the reading. It was so hard to get that amt of weight off and more to keep it off. I asked him about his thought of the lap-band, he knew of it and the success, so he agreed and signed the paper work from the Advanced Bariatric Group. He noted a certain ICD code for billing, medical necessity. It was covered by Anthem Blue Cross of CA. The approval was quick! Good luck, keep me posted

  3. yes, congrats to YOU! wow, size 12 wow! great work. I was happy to read your blog, it's been awhile since we have ckd on each other, so happy for you. I am kinda stalled, but hope to move that scale down alittle this month coming up. Have a reunion to attend and I want to be under 200, even if it says 199! keep us posted. Glad to hear your daughter is teaming up with you, great!

  4. I am at a good restriction, very good.....could be "sweet spot", so why do I get down 2-3 soft chocolate chip cookies down much too easily?? NO pain, no discomfort....yet I can attempt to have my lean cuisne meal.....no way! discomfort at 4-5 bites. I dont get it?? I realize I lack the will-power to stay away from the cookies, slice of cake. I bet if i had the same discomfort as when I try to have real good foods, I sure as heck would not attempt to put it into the mouth!!

I am going to try to have more fruits in the house, and got to dump the chocolate cake that is sitting on my countertop!!

Anyone with this kind of problem going on, let me know how to deal with it. Crap food goes down and the good stuff has trouble....what's with that??:scared2: LAST NIGHT'S DINNER WAS VERY SM AMT OF STEAK, BROCOLLI AND CARROTS(STEAMED)

it took me forever to finish, discomfort even with chewing slowly......tell me why?? BUT THE CHOCOLATE CAKE WHEN DOWN LIKE A CHARM:w00t:

  5. Girlfriend, you are quick!! How are ya? YOU are getting closer! You remember that pic you posted with the playboy bunny, well, I copied it and sent it out to my classmates! We have a 30th reunion coming up soon, it was so much fun sending a glimpse of the new and improved Patti....da bunny girl!!! thanks for sharing so much with us!

  6. Good choice, you are going to like the lapband. It is a slow loss, but I have come to understand.....slow is good.

I too would like to be around for my new little ones, I have 7 children, ranging from 29-----2 yrs old. I love them dearly, have a great husband.....got to live to be at least 85 yrs old!!

This is going to be good for you, I am so happy, got a real chance at the weight loss.

Good luck with the process, keep us posted

    Patti with a smile

  7. kept my appt for a fill, but didnt need the fill, needed just a tiny bit out! in fact he removed .8 of a cc, amazing how that sm amt can make a difference in comfortable eating. I was able to get my 1/2 bowl of soup down without any pain. And I still have the fullness......it' s great! Had my lunch, portion was good, stopped at full.

I am hopeful that I might be at the "green zone" !!:scared2: No hunger in the morning, satisfied with my liquid protein drink, can make it till 1:00pm lunch then on to dinner at about 6:30pm.

Now, I have to work on the walking, still have my pedometer on daily (thanks Delivered, that was a great idea). I am up to at least 4,000-5,000 steps aday.

Thanks lapband, you can be my newest bestest friend!!!

  8. I was wondering what I was doing so different, and what might be the reason no weight loss. I have come to realize I had stopped drinking water throughout the day. I had been drinking at least 64 plus oz of water. So, I got back on the water drinking, found that I needed that intake, to help flush the system. I got on the scale, down 2 lbs! Now at 207-208....looking good! Restriction is still there, still discomfort when having soft foods. I have scheduled appt. might need just alittle out, to get that true "sweet spot"! I have no real hunger, so we are almost there, just need to tweak the pain issue.

My message here, drink the water!:rolleyes2:

  9. I think the restriction is good, except for the tense pain when I eat too fast, or the portion is not right! It's better at nite alittle looser. But no weight loss, I am stuck at 209 on a good day, and most of the time 210! I have started walking with the pedometer, that helps me with a visual on how many steps a day. Jacob and I are dancing less it seems, although we got a new Wii game, Samba de amigo, lots of fun shaking the maracas! I feel like a slug, moving ever so so slowly with the weight loss.

I go to the doc at the end of month, not sure what he can do, I think we have the correct of amt in band, no hunger in the morning, lunch is not much, can make it till dinner, but have a difficult time getting the dinner down without the pain. I hate the slime, I have been doing that I bit more often.....just hate that!

Need a new approach, if you have one....drop me a line:rolleyes2:

  10. Good for YOU! This is the best decision I made, I am now 48 yrs old, started a new life with my second husband in 2002, we have 2 small children together......and I want to see them grow up. I have lots to do yet, YOU do too, so ....let's do it!

I have found the lap-band to be a good tool, there is work in using it properly. As you read the posts, there is so much success. YOU will do great, it's wanting to, it's following through. Good luck, you have made a good choice! God bless ya, keep in touch Patti with a smile

  11. great job! I was banded on the 21st and have lost almost 20lbs. yes, clothes are fitting better, I know what

you mean, and its great! Keep up the great work. I hope to drop a few by the end of this month....hoping for at least 8 lbs. Good bless, Patti

  12. Hi there, great blog! YOU sound so good! I am happy you are loosing, it is a good feeling. 20 lbs is great! I am a bit short for that amt, but like you said....clothes are fitting so much better and I love that! Have a good weekend, hope to hear more from you! God bless

  13. Even after the unfill of 1cc yesterday, I have very good restriction. I am able to have some soft foods, very slowly, chewing very carefully....and down it goes! But, if I try to eat too fast....ouch...ouch! I am waking with no hunger, have the liquid drink for breakfast and make it to lunchtime. Dinner was some soup with thin slices of chicken breast. It almost got cold before I could finish. I am learning to slow down. I am wondering if this could be a "sweet spot"! I sure hope so!;)

I think the right move was the unfill, now let's see what the scale thinks!!:)

  14. I made it through the week of the 16th till today, this morning. I was not able to move over to soft foods, and liquids were not very comfortable either. So, I call the doctor, and they agreed, time to unfill. I hope I dont loose the nice feeling of feeling full! I just was not able to tolerate the tense pain trying to swallow, not to mention the PBing and slime. That part was not fun. Dr. Felix saw me today, and he thought being at 6.4cc in the band was too much, out when 1cc! Let's hope this a good place, maybe a sweet spot! I came home, got my watery oatmeal down, so I think we are on our way! Patti with a smile:rolleyes2:

  15. I hope you are walking plenty, that really helped with the gas feeling. Also, use a sippy cup, just like a small child, limits the intake of water or liquid. It wont allow you to glup. Take you pain medication prescribed, faithly. It will pass, and you will be glad of your lap -band. God Bless, and good luck. Keep us Posted

Patti banded in Jan 09 and so happy.

  16. that is new to me???? stomach ulcer and shoulder pain I was told the shoulder pain that might occur after surgery was due to the gas placed in the stomach to help distend the area? humm i HOPE you feel better, you didnt get any diarerra? food poisoning usually does that.

had my second fill, it is definately different than the first, I am not at soft food yet, liquids barely go down. fill was on monday the 16th. Pretty tight still.

  17. I wish you all my best, and you sound like you have your wife's best interest at heart. She may be a strong woman and make it with her own diet plan, or work off your new diet intake, that in it self is a big change for both. My husband is so supportive of my new journey, he feels bad eating his meals in front of me. He is hoping that his portions will get smaller as he watches mine shrink. Together we share ideas of how to watch our intake. Now if I could just do as much exercise as he, but that will come.

I pray that your guilt fades, your BROTHER would want you to get healthy and enjoy life. We all deserve to be our best, we owe it to ourselves, our partners, children.

    God

    Bless Patti with a smile

  18. Good luck to you, I cant believe I had my band done almost 2 months ago! BEst thing ever! It's a good tool, as you will find. As far as protein drinks, I did fine with having the Isopure with 40 grams and also picked up some Atkins and Slimfast high protein drinks at Target. They also have the chewable calcium, those are so much better to get down. Jello and pudding and popsicles. Broth soups. Best of luck, you will do fine.

Please walk after the surgery, it really does help with the shoulder pain, discomfort. I walked that nite, and moved the next day too. Keep us posted on the journey.

I am now down just about 20 lbs. no pre op diet.

    Patti with a smile

  19. My understanding of PBing is when you have what you just ate trying to come back up, somewhat like vomiting, along with that sensation is the burping. PBing :Productive burping with the feeling of your food trying to come up. It is not fun! How are you doing??? My 5yr son and I are now dance partners! Dancing with the Stars....Wii game totally fun!

  20. It's day 2 and quite honestly, I am tight and I dont mean "tight" as something good!!!LOL:cool: I really dont feel hungry, tried to have scambled eggs for lunch, ,mushed them, they didnt go down, and what little did...hurt like hell! Tomatoe soup did great!

Down another lb today, 210. 18 lbs gone since 1/23/09, happy about that.

I will try to stick-it-out till Friday, if not dealing with hunger, I will make it. If not got to call the doc, to unfill a bit. I can now say I know something about PBing and sliming....and it is not fun!:)

Let's see how the next couple of days go.
