  1. I'm prime and didn't have to pay anything..and we are in Alaska,so a lot of the tests i needed i had to go into town to get...
  2. My surgeon knew from my tests that I had fatty liver prior to surgery. ?I believe is was from the abdominal UltraSound...but I still woke up with my band..thank God!
  3. My surgeon is six hours from here driving..or a 40 min flight...so i fly down for my fills...i don't find that i'm tighter or anything when flying..absolulty no difference than any other day...i just can't wait until i can fit in my own seat and not need an extender! lol
  4. I'm a very "want it now" girl...but I'm learning to be patient with the band. To continue to do what I'm supposed to do and it time, with fills,it will start doing what it's supposed to be doing...
  5. Have you tried googleing it? I know I read an article written in Australia about it being not so uncommon after the band. I hope you find the answers you need. I'll surf around and see if I can find it again...i did originally get the article off of this bored..
  6. I go 5 days a week. 40 mins. of Cardio a day and 4 times a week (2 days upper/2 days lower) body with the weight machines. In addition I do 2 60 mins. long water aerobics classes a week. I work one on one with a trainer and love every minute of it!
  7. Tricare Prime here and was quick and painless as well! Best of luck!! It has been the best thing to ever happen for me!!
  8. I'm in! I plan on being under 300lbs. by Thanksgiving!
  9. My husband is in the military. Our base is covered with fit people. Our gym is free. The first time i walked in I was nervous, but did my best to look like i owned the place...i've been going M-F and some weekends for 2 months now and all of the employees know me and as well as regular gym goers. The first week I acutally had a guy tap me on myshoulder and tell me to keep up the great work. That I ispire him to keep going even when he doesn't want it. Sure there are times when I'm doing an ab workout on the side of the football field where they are running for PT tests, but that passes over, because no one can fault me for being at the gym...I even have a trainer that offered to train me at no cost...so i guess it pays to look out of place sometimes! lol:thumbup:
  10. Mine are free..though I'm Tricare Prime and we do not have to pay for anything...
  11. Back in May when I was pre op I was put on the induction phase of Atkins...i was so tired of cheese and meat! LOL..
  12. My surgeon tried to steer me towards bypass. At almost 380 lbs he said bypass would be a more effective option. I was set on the band...and that's what I got...and so far i'm loosing just as quickly with the band as my friend did with her bypass. I HAD GERD prior to being banded...in the 12ish weeks i've been banded I have not had one episode of reflux at all. And have been off my medication since 1 week post op.
  13. My best friend just almost moved to Whidbey Island...she'll be there in 2 months. She's home in WY while her hubby is at recruiter school...im up at Eielson AFB near Fairbanks Alaksa!
  14. I eat a balanced diet of protien, fat and carbs. I do my best to stick with 3 1 cup meals a day. I do snack on occasion, have birthday cake at parties and still drink coffee. I do work out for at least an hour and that (becuase I do not have restriction yet) is what is keeping my pounds going down. Best of luck to you. IMO it does sound like you need an unfill a lil' bit though..
  15. Starting weight 37.77 lbs. Surgery weight 367 lbs. (5/26/09) 06/05/09 wt- 350 lbs. 06/12/09 wt- 346 lbs.:scared2: 06/19/09 wt-341.1 lbs. Camping so didn't weigh in:tongue_smilie: 07/10/09 wt-336.3 :tt2: 07/17/09 wt-336 First Fill 07/24/09 wt-333.6:thumbup: 07/31/09 wt-330.3:glare: 08/07/09 wt -327.5:lol: I lost 2.8 pounds this week!!!:tt1:
  16. Makes sense...that's why we are told to DIET and exercise...one with out the other is ying without it's yang...
  17. I'm happy and proud, but feel like it's not comming off fast enough. I had great restriction post op,but lost that at 3.5 weeks...I got a fill (small one) and it's still not where I need to be. I workout 5 days a week for min. of an hour. Usually 3.5 mph and a varried incline and then bike about 3 miles a day. I think if I'm not down 10 lbs. in the next month Ill request another fill. I am excited though and am starting to see that this is really going to work!:sneaky:
  18. My dr. *thinks* Im at my sweet spot but I do not. I went for my first fill at 7 weeks post op. I had bounced around the same 4 pounds from 3 weeks post op...he gave me 1 cc (total of 4.5cc) and said that should do me just fine..that i was ahead of the curve and doing well...well,i work my ass off at the gym and have to stop myself at 1 cup of food becuase i can easlily eat that plus snack all day long...i do my best to stop it,but it feels like i don't even have a lap band in!
  19. It's really not that big of a deal..maybe because at only 2 months out i haven't puked yet.. or pb'd...i have gotten stuck in public, but that passes quickly for me (30 seconds)...
  20. I think it's something you and your sergeon should discuss. Those calories are there, being processed. Laxative abuse is not going to take that away. I struggle with bad choices. I just do my best to pick myself up,stop making those choices and working out in the gym extra hard to combat those extra calories I ate. Best of luck to you!
  21. Starting weight 377 lbs. Surgery weight 367 lbs. (5/26/09) 06/05/09 wt- 350 lbs. 06/12/09 wt- 346 lbs. 06/19/09 wt-341.1 lbs.:mad2: Camping so didn't weigh in:tongue_smilie: 07/10/09 wt-336.3 07/17/09 wt-336  First Fill 07/24/09 wt-333.6:thumbup: 07/31/09 wt-330.3:glare: I lost 3.3 pounds this week!!!:scared2:
  22. Depends on your body and your surgeon...i can eat pineapple and peanut butter with no problem...i can also eat bread,rice,pasta...all in moderation an no more than 2 servings a day..but i can physically eat it just fine
  23. I do 45 mins of cardio (hard, sweating cardio) 5 mins,of cool down 5 days a week. My surgeon wants me at 60 mins 7 days a week, but I'll take that as a goal i'm working towards..lol I do circut training (strength) 3 times a week for 30 mins (every other day)...
  24. I agree with what the others have said. I am 5'7 and started my journey at 377 lbs. I know i have a long road ahead of me. I am down about 47 lbs. now since May 26,09 (a lil' over 2 months) and I couldn't be happier. I was scared getting back into the gym again, but I've gotten nothing but "atta girls" from the people that go there and that makes it easier. Us bigger gals (and guys) have to work a lil' extra harder for extra longer, but in the end we are worth it!
  25. I am allowed pasta, bread and rice as well...i stick to whole grain/high fiber...haven't gotten stuck yet...lol enjoy!
