  1. not sure..wondering the same thing..May 26 i will be a year post op and still only 55ish pounds down...i am in the gym 5 days a week and with my job take over 12000 steps a day..i don't know what elce i can do at this point!
  2. I fly from Fairbanks to Anchorage everytime to get my fills...so i land,go get my fill and 2 hours later (for airport security reasons, lol) I fly home...at 35,000 feet..you should be just fine!
  3. I flew in for my surgery and for my fills because my dr. is 6 hours away..he has no restrictions on flying..lol
  4. Probably to much air got down there with the gulp..wow 5 motrin...my dr. won't even let me take one..EVER AGAIN! lol..he said that anti inflmatory's would give me an ulcer faster than a cup of coffee a day..so i stay far away! lol
  5. i haven't had any problems with pills...my dr. told me if it can fit down my throat,i'd be fine...i'm 6 months out and getting over the H1N1 Flu right now and I never wanna swallow another pill in my lfe! lol..i think that's all I've done the past 2 weeks!
  6. Love the elliptical..burns burns burns those calories..so does the dreaded stair stepper!! burns even more...trust me,at 322 lbs..it's not fun..but i do it for 10 mins a day...also i do water aerobics...not old lady stuff...but a military run/style class that i burn aprox. 1300 calories in the hour
  7. I just got over the stomach flu 2 weeks ago..now i'm getting over the H1N1 flu..stomach flu was worse! lol...after the first time i threw up,i had my dr. get me some phenagran. It's an anti nausua drug that works quickly...now i'll be sure to always keep it on hand!
  8. There are only 2 surgeons in Alaska that take my insurance, and they are both down in Anchorage...so when i call and say i need a fill,it's usually a 6 week process with getting travel arranged and what not..it's so stupid! lol Just keep at it..i had great restriction after surgery (dr. puts in 3 cc's at the time)..but after loosing the first 50lbs. the fat moves away from the band and it loosens...so here i am again..feeling it,but not at much, but i'm loosing,so i'll take it for now until it stops working...just do YOUR best to follow up with fills/unfills until you reach your spot!
  9. I lost very quickly...I lost 50lbs. in the first 3 months...and then gained 10lbs. and stopped loosing. It's a real pain to get fills. I have to fly to Anchorage, (I'm in Fairbanks AK) and it just takes a whole day of childcare, moving apts. yada yada, for a 10 min. apt..i'm in the gym 10 hours a week.I could eat ANYTHING i wanted...i went down for a fill last week. It was my 2nd fill. I'm almost 6 months out from surgery. I have 5.5 in a 14CC band...I'm down 11lbs. since wednesday. I can eat about 1300 calories in a day now instead of the 1800+ i was before this last fill. It's all about finding that green zone or 'sweet spot'...best of luck to you. Even with restriction,i haven't PB'd or slimed or anything, and i don't get stuck (yet)..but i still can eat what i want..just smaller portions...so before it felt like i didn't have a band and now it does...
  10. I'm a huge fan of Sparkspeople. I've used fitday.com,thedailyplate.com and a few other ones. You can always google "Free online food logs". Sparkspeople is very user friendly. You log your fitness as well...message boards (even lap band ones)...i really like it...
  11. were you getting sick before starting drinking soda? i don't really see a doc giving the ok to drink it if you throw up even once a month, let alone multiple times a week..not trying to be snarky, but maybe you need to get a little more of an unfill for the vomiting to stop and to make sure you are doing all you can to follow the basic band rules...
  12. I had my 2nd fill the other day. I was chewing gum through the entire appt. at the end i said,"gum is ok right?" and he said as long as i don't swallow it and don't have a problem with it,then it's fine... i'm a lil over 5 mnths. out
  13. I am so GASSY after fills..and the worst part is i have to fly 40 mins. to get them..so i do my best to 'hold it' the whole flight home..lol...but the week after a fill..well,i'm a machine! lol
  14. I quit smoking 2 weeks prior to surgery and started again 2 weeks after...I'm an IDIOT! lol..I just couldn't stay away...then after a few months,I kept telling myself "you're gonna get an ulcer from smoking and your putting yourself at even a great risk now"..so i took a smoking sensation class,Chantix and after a week have been smoke free since Sept. 16 this year! I did try to smoke the other day and it was so gross! I have smoked for the past 20 years and Chantix saved my life!
  15. i'm almost 6 months out and havne't PB'd or gotten stuck YET! lol... I know it's comming, but thanking my stars that it hasn't happened..now i have thrown up...just once,2 weeks ago (tummy bug ran through our house)..thank got for phenagran and hopefully never having to throw up again! lol
  16. I woulda let my dog out to crap in their cement...oops...you are not quite done yet amigos! lol
  17. My hubby is AF (a cop) and one of our friends just became a recruiter in the Air FOrce...they do not take anyone (even with waivers) that have had WLS,including Lap Band patients...sorry.
  18. So I'm a little over 3 months out and have had one fill. I was scheduled for another Sept.16 but just cancelled it. I'm loosing weight (average of 8lbs a month). I do NOT have restriction yet. But I'm getting there. I work out for about 90 mins. a day (cardio and weights, some water aerobics) 5 days a week. I'm sure the bulk of my loss is from that. Was I stupid for cancelling my fill? I guess I want to 'save' the fill for when I stop loosing. But if I miss one day in the gym the scale jumps up that week by like 4 lbs..and i'm done yo yoing! I'm not sure if I should ride this out or get a fill..ugh! My dr. thinks i'm in my green zone because of my weight loss...but i can easily down 2 cups of food (I don't,but know i can) and snack throughout the day...what to do what to do??
  19. I still am not in my sweet spot,so have a lil' restriction, but not much...i eat salads all the time with hardboiled egg, cheese and meat...great way to get protien in!
  20. I get horrible shin splints when I walk..so I do water aerobics, elliptical and recumbant bike...all low impact, pretty much non weight bearing...
  21. Ahh..my favorite subject..FIBER! I drink well over 64 oz. of water a day and workout for about 90 mins. 5X's a week...and I'm still always 'backed up'. On a camping trip over 4th of July weekend I went 4 days (I'm a two a dayer kinda gal) and was in so much discomfort and pain. Once I finally did pass a BM,I ended up with a hemoroid that still irks the well, crap out of me...lol. I make sure I get my 5 servings of fruit and vegies (2 fruit/3 vegies) and I eat my 2 servings of whole grains...if I don't reach my target of 30 g. of fiber by then I'll add a fiber one bar or some other fiber enriched bar...and still...here I sit knowing that my battle against being 'regular' may never be won! lol:angry:
  22. My dr. is fine with it...so I get my cup of joe every morning...well,i have two cups...and use half decaf...
  23. it keeps asking for a username/password?
  24. I'm right with you...i'm down 51.9lbs. today from May 26. I workout 5 days a week and in the gym for a min. of 90 mins at a time..i'm loosing weight because of the gym.not my band...lol...i have this tool and i want to work with it..but i have no restriction anymore (i did post op)...i can easily eat a 6 inch sub from subway...i'm hungry and choose my food carefully, but i want restriction now! lol..i go down mid sept. for my second fill..and then again first week in nov. for my 6month follow up,so i'm going to ask for a .5cc now,and then see how that works..i have to fly 40mins to see my surgeon so i'm afraid to get overfilled...
