Has My Metabolism Shut Down?
Me? I got banded on 4/10 I'm getting enough water but not enough protein. I prepared for Protein shakes after surgery but I'm on Clear Liquids so I have to go find a protein that will work with or is clear liquid heading to GNC tomorrow. But really haven't felt like much more than what I described having.

Gas pain- help!
The nurse from my insurance company called today to see how I was doing ended up talking to 2 of them one has more experience wiht band paitents. She said I should be taking 2 Gas-X's about every 4 hours. I haven't had to much gas pain so I've only taken them when I felt like I needed one.

Has My Metabolism Shut Down?
LOL - Yes people usually have trouble understanding exactly what I mean. I'm really bad at getting on the scale multiple times a day and it's frustrating because eating a couple popcicles, a cup of broth, Jello and Water I should be seeing more results but aren't there yet.

Has My Metabolism Shut Down?
I'm so bad at getting on the scale and get frustrated when I think of what I've put in and what the scale reflects.

Those that have had surgery this week
I'm doing good today but taking it very easy. I haven't had much problems with gas pains at least not in the shoulder like most people report. I took a real shower and got out a bit yesterday but started feeling a bit lightheaded not sure if it was the store I was in warehouse furniture place kind of dark and very narrow paths it may have caused something to be off. Went to another store and didn't feel as bad but after those two went home. Still not eating much but feel like I ate a whole ham I guess that's the gas in my belly. I'm getting quite a bit of Water in maybe drinking it to fast. I've been having a cup of broth and a couple popcicles a day had Jello last night. Love this clear liquid diet haven't had diet coke since last Tuesday and no carbonated drink since last Thursday (day before surgery) haven't missed them yet. Planning to go to GNC tomorrow it's gray here today so don't have much desire to get out but moving aroudn the house a lot.

Okay Bunnies... who have you told?
One of my nurses while in the hospital told me someting intresting she said tht she'd get the surgery if they covered it. I wonder if some negative reaction is because some in the medical field who need it can't get it.

straight to pureed foods?
Doc told me clear liquids until I see him for my 2 week follow-up disappointing because I was lookiing forward to the creamed and tomato soups and some protein shakes. I've been having some broth, popcicles, fudgecicles (propably cheating but need the creamy texture) and water I made some Jello that will probably be dinner. I'm going to double check with the nutrionist when she calls to make sure I didn't misunderstand but he clearly said no soup till follow-up I would figure that meant tomato and cream of....

April Bandsters, anyone?
Not to much when I breath deep coughing gets me a bit. I have an onboard pain thing that maybe helping me it's called an On Q PainBuster. It's in a fanny pack I wear around my neck or shoulder and delivers meds directly to the incisions. It comes off tomorrow so well see how that goes. Today I had grape juice cut with water and a cup of beef broth. I've also taken pills today with no issues one fairly big Levaquin antibiotic. I'd kill for a protien shake though...doc says Clear Liquids only but I'm not really hungry jsut want the texture and taste of the shake.

April Bandsters, anyone?
Had my surgery Friday 4/10 spent the night in the hospital didn't get up much not because I didn't feel like it but because it was such a production. I was lucky that the Dr. allowed me ice chips after surgery that was a big relief. Haven't had much since surgery some water, grape juice and about half a cup of chicken broth. A bit sore but Liquid Tylenol seems to take care of that. Slept well last night but got up really early for a couple hours then went back to bed for a couple hours up now feeling OK taking a walk around the neighborhood after it warms up a bit.

Those that have had surgery this week
Well I'm home and it's done and yes I'm questioning my decision at this time. My Dr used as he put it a small band on a big guy he's found more issues using the larger band so I'm tighter I guess than some/many/moat. If I heard him correctly I think I'm on clear liquids for 2 more weeks nothing wiht sugar and no fizz so I guess I'm allowed broth and tea. We got the the hospital at 5:25am checked in and I got called back about 6am about 6:30 they started preping me. I met a lot of people nurses and the guy wiht the good stuff that makes you not care I was ready for surgery by 7:30am (scheduled time) surgeon rolls in about 8am tells me I can change my mind and not have the surgery, change my surgery to bypass, or change to another surgeon I chose none of the above. Tehy finally wheeled me to surgery I remmber getting on the bed and asking about the anastisia and was told I got it as I roled through the door....that is the last thing i remembered till there was a lot going on around me and I said I had to pee and was told to go ahead, I had a cath:scared2: they drained me and removed it thank goodness I was asleep when it was put in and still to grogy when it was removed. I guess I asked about incisions and was suprised when they told me I had 9 yes 9. After fussing wiht my Cpap machine and deciding it really wasn't helping and a few other things I was moved up to my room with a cup of ice thank god for that little cup of ice. My nurses were good getting up was so much work unplug O2 sensor, compresion things IV's I only got up 4 times during my stay. This morning I went to Xray had the swallow test drank the chalk to quickly it went down but slowly. The surgeon arrived not long after that and released me. Never got my hospitla tray of broth and Jello. Dropped of my scripts on the way home got home and got soe liquid tylenol, a fudgcicle and a glass of Water. My mouth feels like it has a camel trud in it no matter what I do. Just a bit sore now only have 8 incisions, when I asked about so many I was told that sometimes they just go in at the wrong sopt. They are covered with bandaids not sure which one is the port a little tender but not to bad I have a ball and chain around my neck with pain reliver that goes directly to my sites. All in all feel OK but wonder what the heck have I done. Oh and at the hospital I weighed in at 282 back in October at the consultation I was 328. Sorry about all the typos my best to everyone.

***bunny bandsters april 09 master thread #2 ***
I can't believe it's nearly hear tomorrow morning have to be at the hospital at 5:30am ofr 7:30 surgery. I'm not so much scared of the surgery as I am the rest of my life with the band. I didn't get to have a last waffle at Waffle House, didn't get fairwell sushi...so much I have left to do..... oh well my other half is so supportive well going to bed catchup with everyone in a couple days. Good Luck to everyone having surgery tomorrow with me and for the next couple days.

Friday Weigh Ins
I leave early in the morning for surgery so I'm posting tonight. I've been on 2 protien shakes and one meal a day since Sunday and for the last 2 days (Wed and Thur) I've been on clear liquids and had to drink stuff to help clean things out but I'm at 288 so far tonight. I see LingLing's spread sheet has a high weight column at my surgical consult in October I was 328.

Those that have had surgery this week
Linda the pain pump you emntioned was it an On-Q Pain Buster they said in preop class we'd be getting one of these. Delivers non narcotic pain medication right to surgery site automatic last like 3 days and then throwaway when done (wonder if it's recycable). Has anyone had one of these?

One of the last co-workers I told was asking a bit about the band I told her that it goes on empty and slowly gets filled.... Then mentioned that I'd lost 36lbs since October in preparation (most of it in the last couple months) she looked at me and said.....OH!? I don't see it....... I ain't telling now one else...next person that ask why I'm going to be out I'm using the female surgery excuse......

Bunnie Recipes
Thought I'd start this thread so that we could share what we are making for our liquid or mushies phases. I know there is food/recipe info elsewhere on the board but I get tired of looking through it. Here is a spot in our own little corner of the board where we can tell each other interesting things we are doing wth our food.
