Protein Shakes YUK!!
I had been using Body Fortress got it at WalMart for around 13 bucks. I had been mixing it with skim milk and frozen fruit, peanut butter, yogurt someone on this sight mentioned adding a spoon or two of SF/FF pudding mix I had started doing that and really like it. I have also always mixed mine in a blender recently I bought a Magic Bullet as recommended by someone on this site the samller conteiners help m limit how much I make. The bullet also comes with several containers so you odn't have to wash up the blender every time you use it rinse the container an put in dishwasher wash off blades then next time use one of the other containers.

Did you feel any restriction right after surgery
My Dr. said I was a big guy with the smaller band, he like that band better. I don't know if I'd say I felt restriction but during the baruim swallow I drank it to fast and it took a bit of swallowing to get it down. I'm still on liquids but it seemed like the first few days it was like a funnel you know hoe you put liquid in and kind of have to wait for some air to come out befroe the liquid could go down. My first week I wasn't really hungry now I'm starting to feel hungry and hope that I can at least start on soup after my visit tomorrow, I've been clear liquids since 4/8 and my surgery was 4/10.

straight to pureed foods?
Since that post I got Isopure Alpine Punch it can mixx wiht Water and is almost a clear liquid. I'm learning more each day on here form everyone. Instead of making one batch and drinking it as I feel like I make one scoop for breakfat and one for lunch and then I started having a protein shot at dinnertime. I really wasn't hungry for much of anything till this weekend so it was really hard to schedule any meals. I see the doc on Tuesday I hope he puts me on full liquids or even mushies. He probably won't remember telling me to stay away from soups or will think I should have known he meant soups with chuncks instead of any soup like tomato or cream of.... Thanks to everyone for the advise I'm learning all the time this is a great group to go through this with. I don't say often enough hope everyone who's be banded is doing ok and good luck to those about to be banded. We are on the last days of the month hard to believe.

Pureed MEAT???
I'm still on clear liquids but when I'm allowed mushie foods do not plan on pureeing meat, tacos or anything like that. My plan is to eat beans, cottage cheese maybe some canned or develed meat or tuna. That's now who know's what I may crave and give in to. Right now I'd just like to have some tomato soup.

Fantastic recipe!
I love risotto but figured becasue of the white rice it would be a sticky food. I'm glad to hear that someone is eating it without getting stuck I'll have to try it next time I make it instead of just counting it out automatically.

***bunny bandsters april 09 master thread #2 ***
Did anyone get instruction on liquids? I know it sound funny but since I was on liquids I initally kept water around and sipped on it throughout the day. Then nurse from my insurance company said that I was taking in to much and should have gotten instructions to only drink so much water every so often I think she said like 6oz a half hour or something. Before I was getting in a lot but did feel more bloated now I'm barely getting through a 32oz container a day.

April Bandsters, anyone?
I'm doing well not much pain but not much energy either. I'm on clear liquids until at least 4/21 when I have my followup appointment. We've had cool and gray days till yesterday and today so walking outside hasn't been motivational till yesterday. I'm starting to feel hungry but for now doing pretty good living on SF popcicles, broth, protein drink and sf jello.

back to old habits & not full
Lemon no criticism here I'm stil on liquids so not much help with experience but remember you are still healing please be careful. YOu probably should have held off on the Water if you had that to soon aftr eating you may have washed a lot of what you ate through the upper pounc to the stomach. We will slip up and have to forgive ourselves even if others can't. Chalk this one up to an experience remember it and how you felt after words so that you will follow the rules. Good Luck and tell you husband support is what you need not tough love you'r tough enough on yourself.

Those that have had surgery this week
LOL...KImber I guess my sarcasim wasn't clear enough. I was planning on at least full liquids and was very disappointed when the doc said only clear liquids and no soups, I have 6 or 8 cans of family size cream of chicken, cream of mushroom and tomato soup that I'm not allowed to drink plus the milk that I had to throw out since I couldn't make the protein drinks I was planning on because of the clear liquid diet. Good part is few calories and until today wasn't very hungry anyway.

Oh my stars you want what?!
After everyone's surgery I'll tell you my story

Friday Weigh Ins
I'm glad that the fluids from surgery seem to be gone those first couple days when nothing was moving I was a bit disappointed, ok a lot, but now it seems to be gone. The pre-op nurse was very happy wiht the weight loss she had seen in my records but I'm not sure what weight she was comparing. Tuesday I have my post-op with the surgeon and it's at the office he did my initial consultation at and I weighed 328 we'll see what that scales shows next week. But for now my home scale says..............282

Scheduled for April 20th and scared!
It's suprising how easy it gets (so far). I've been cooking for another person and would usually pick as I cook and even though it's crossed my mind I easily let it go. I'm still failry recent but haven't relly been that hungry to eat anything. I thought after surgery and the next morning waiting till my swallow test not eating would be difficult I ended up leaveing the hospital before I even got a tray. Today is the first day I would say I was hungry think I'll go have a popcicle.

I'm one week post op and doing great!!!
Glad to hear you gusy are doing well I'm one week tomorrow and feel pretty good some pain in my stables but othr than that not to bad. I'm taking pain medication only when I want to lay down or some Tylonel Liquid if I leave the house. Just started getting more protein yesterday I'm still on clear liquids.
-
why lap band?
I didn't like the idea of being rerouted inside. The band can be removed or redone if there are issues once bypassed it's done. I feel there are fewer risk.
-
Help!!
My 2 things were waffles and sushi I didn't have either right before my surgery and both are risky foods post-op. You will get through this remember it's only a few weeks and then we can start adding in our favorite foods and see what works. Good luck tomorrow.

How do you take in enough calories?
I too haven't been very hungry and DR. messed up my plans for protein shakes when he said clear liquids till I see him post-op. I've been eating a cup of broth, a couple SF popcicles and a bit of jello. I went to GNC today and got some Isopure Zero Carb Alpine Punch it mixes well with water where I went had it on sale it doesn't taste bad but a little sweet.
-
What Protein Supplement do you Prefer?
I picked up Isopure Zero Carb AlpinePunch today not bad and if I read right 50 grams of protien for 2 scoops. Mixed it with water and it doesn't taste bad tomorrow I'm making it in the bullet blender see if it mixes better.

Do you guys have second thoughts before surgery?
Yes totaly felt that way a few days before surgery I was seriously reconsidering but it's been a long haul. The Dr. even gives you a chance to not do right before you get wheeled into surgery. And I was really wondering if I did the right thing the couple days after my surgery. Now I'm sure it's right. Feel good not hurting much at all I'm doing some things around the house funny thing is I'm cooking for others and I almost want to pick like I would have before but tell myslef - self don't grab that little sliver of really browned ham off the skillet that was to small to serve. It's a good thing and I'm happy I continued down the road.
