  1. I had to sign a paper for my surgeon that I was alcohol free for 30 to 90 days before my surgery.
  2. It's done.... I had cousins that cooked their hamburgers in water in a skillet. I was thinking of doing it myself so te ground beef would't dry out.
  3. I've seen some post where people were intigrating Weight Watchers into their band life and when I was at the local support group meeting they mentioned doing a South Beach type plan. I agree with you GB that I've lost and gained on many diets in the past. I lost weight pre-op using the 50 Million Pound Challange but it was a bit odd on sme days. I do like the idea of structured eating plans though when my other half is out of town, road 2 weeeks home 1. Having a plan also made doing food diary easy. Thanks for the input.........
  4. It isn't! But some people even in the medical field put it with plastic surgery and consider it cosmetic. For many of us it was an option that will probably save our lives. My sample my dad had heart by-pass in his early 40's, he finally died in a car accident at 68 when his pacemaker went off while he was driving. My brother died at 43 of a massive heart attack and all of my uncles (4) died of heart attacks. I'm 47 and I had angioplasti and got 2 stints in 04, my BP is very high, I have hereditary high cholestrol. I've treid almost every diet out there with no long term success, my primary care doctor felt this might be the key to my health. So as far as I'm concerned it's not cosmetic:angry:!!!!! But you know what if I get down to the lean 180's I may have a tummy tuck done so I can wear a speedo at that beachs in Europe....
  5. A few early Bunny Bandsters are stating that their early restriction is gone and that bandster hell has started. In the long run the band is just a tool to help us eat less while eating smarter. Has anyone been planning to use a program or eating plan to assist them or do you think the general/your surgeon's eating guidelines will do it?
  6. I was on clear liquids for almost 2 weeks I started using the Isopure Alpine Punch not the best tasting but it was OK and mixed with Water, I wasn't allowed milk, but you have to do it in a blender. Cream of chicken Soup never tasted so good after that period oh and the SF popsicles and fudgesicles (probably not allowed for me) reall helped.
  7. This is the one that made me say OMG I'm rally a fat @$$. It was taken during a week long training class at work while I was doing a presentation.
  8. Man my typing and grammer on the above........ must have been weak from the clear liquids... I plan some veggie chili when I get to mushy phase. Puree the tomato base I use, mush up the black beans, add my spices and some FF Sour Cream...yumo.:w00t: I hope the spice doesn't get me I've read where some people have problems with spicy food after banding
  9. Put me down for 275 thanks....
  10. Thanks for the encouragment I'm down well for the week jsut not as much as I was a couple days ago. I go back to work Tomorrow that will help we walk during our breaks or at lunch. I love Columbus I'm from the Dayton area I used to go to Columbus and hangout some on the weekends.
  11. I didn't like the broth either I got boulion (sp) and that tasted better to me. The big saver for me on clear liquids was that my sheet said I could have SF popsicles. Hang in there on the other side you will be happy......
  12. I didn't have any gas or bloating but BM's are fewer, sorry if TMI, and my weight loss has stalled but it's only been 2.5 days and I know I shouldn't be weighing so much. However I do have some more energy. I go back to work tomorrow and starting mushie foods on Saturday.
  13. LingLing keep positive even though we have this tool at our disposal we are still going to have ups and downs. Sometimes the ups are not fat particulary as we start exercising or working out and gain some muscle, most of us are adding more Protein than we have on anyother diet we've been on. I also have to keep reminding myself of this cause my weight is up today from where I was Tuesday (yes I weight to much). Pleas stay positive we need you.
  14. My doc was kind of weird about my diet plan. When he released me he specifically said Clear Liquids NO SOUP Tuesday he said cointinue wiht the general guidelines I asked him full liquids for 2 weeks and then mushie foods and he cameback with didn't you get a copy of the guidelines use those........:rolleyes2:. So I went to full liquids Tuesday afternoon and will do those till pobably Saturday, I start back to work tomorrow and don't want any suprises to and from my body at work. Switching from clear to full liquids has already thrown my body in the bandster hell which is frustrating so soon but on clear liquids I haven't had energy to do much so let's hope that I get hat back and start moving more.
  15. Once the surgeon arrive it went fast but I didn't go in on time I was scheduled for 7:30 didn't see him till about 8:15 the rest was a blurrrrrr till a bit in recovery and then finally in my room.
  16. My first fill is scheduled for May 19th. I forgot to ask do we need to fast or anything before, does anyone know?
  17. I kow it's tough waiting I called UHC a couple times and didn't really get any answers except it was under review until my Dr's office called me and said that they had approval. I saw a lot of post where people said their UHC approval was done in hours or days mine took 3 weeks.
  18. Scooby my port is just a bove and to the right (my right) of my bellybutton. Glad to hear that other than waiting on a room that things went well. Aren't those blank bits kiind of wierd last thing I remembered is someone telling my I got something to put me under as I came throught the door as I was rolled up next to the OR table I don't remember getting on it or anything else till I guess I said I needed to potty in recovery things were kind of foggy till I got to my room also could be the moraphine the nurse pulled out of her pocket whne I was iffy on if I was in pain.
  19. KMDC I've been noticing your Diet Coke ticker that is a major accomplishment I went for my follow-up yesterday and saw Coke machines everywhere my last one was April 7th and my last soda (diet 7up, Fesca, ginger Ale) was 4/9 haven't been to tempted we have a few of the later in the fridge for guest or my otherhalf but yesterday was a bit challange though I held strong.
  20. My follow-up went well the Dr. acted like he didn't remember telling me clear liquids for 2 weeks after surgery. I asked him how to continue he said you got the guidelines didn't you follow those or don't it's your choice........ I was like what? I'm going to full liquids till Friday or Saturday end then to mushie foods for 2 weeks like the general guidelines say. Myturn... Make sure you get a Protein drink you can mix wiht Water I got Isopure Alpine Punch not great but it's protein and I also had a protein shot that I got from WalMart looks like a test tube taste like liquid Jello a little to sweet for me but I used them.
  21. Finally got in. I got it at Kohl's it was on sale I think I got it for about $50.00. WalMart has them for aourn $59 but I tink it will be worth the investment particularly during these early days. OH!!! and the pudding mix is the instant kind....I keep forgeting to put that part
  22. I go for my post-op appointment this afternoon and hope that teh Dr. removes my stables they are bothering me the most. I also hope to be put on mushie foods or at least full liquids. Oh and that he's happy with the weight loss I've had I cam out of the hospital bigger then I went in due to the fluids but I've lost that and some weight so hopefully he'll be happy.
  23. kishaadamshall I agree with the others when I say that you had stuff comming out of one of your incisions I was a bit concerned you definately need that looked at. Sounds like you Dr. put some Fluid in at surgery and did an unfill when you went back to the hospital. I got antibiotics while in the hospital and 7 days worth after comming home. Please take it slow.
  24. Some times it takes a couple days for input. The 8 I guess 7 days will go quicker than you think. I was inpaitent and live about 30 minutes from the hospital so I was driven down and stayed overnight and brought home the next day. I would say that if you have to fly to where your surgery is you may want to consider staying at a nearby hotel at least one night incase something comes up. Be sure to follow you Dr's pre-op instructions mine didn't require a pre-op diet so I did one kind of on my own Protein drink twice a day and a low carb dinner no snacking. Be sure to get clear discharge instructions especially since you will be so far away. We've been put on so many different pre and post op instructions you just want to make sure you understand clearly what your Dr. want you to do. Good Luck!
  25. I bought some premixed ones to try and they are not very good one was Myoplex Light and I was suprised becasue I used the mix before that and it wasn't to bad. I used to take my envelope of mix to the local coffee shop and the girl there would make a smoothie for me.
