  1. What an awesome video! :cursing: Thanks for sharing it.
  2. full liquids with sf nonfat plain yogurt.
  3. My tummy did that too. It was so embarressing and I was glad I was at home recovering rather than at work. I swear people could hear it in the next room, because it was making so much noise. My doctor allowed me to have sf nonfat plain yogurt during my lqiuid phase stage, which really helped with the growling.
  4. Actually you are not required to tell your employer your medical condition. All you need to state is that your under a doctor's care and that you will need time off work. You will of course need to provide a note from your doctor stating that you are being treated for a medical condition and the amount of time you will be off work. Take advantage of HIPPA and FMLA.
  5. Well that depends. If your employer admininsters the plan and pays the medical costs directly to the doctor/hospital, then yes they would see who had what prcoedure. But again, the information is protected by HIPPA and if anyone were to disclose your private medical information there could be serious repercussions. Some government agencies/municipailities administer their health plans and pay the medical expenses directly to the doctors/hospital in order to save money. Yet, there are other organizations/businesses that just pay a plan administrator to oversee the health insurance. In this situation, the business/organization would not know who had what type of medical procedure done. It is complicated, but your HR department can explain it to you more thoroughly. :cursing:
  6. Wow! Your doctor let you progress to solid foods quickly. I was on full liquids for two weeks and right now I am on the mushie stage. I was banded on 11/11/08.
  7. Corey, welcome to LBT. You will find lots of support on this site, plus a great deal of information to help you along. Good luck!
  8. I took two weeks off and have a desk job. I felt re-energized, no pain, and fatigue. I felt great and still do. :-)
  9. Personally, I don't feel compelled to discuss my private matters with my employer. Hence, when I have medical issues, such as when I had an emergency hsterectomy and gallbladder surgery, I did not see any reason to tell my employer, other than I would be off work due to a medical condition, which is being treated by a doctor. I don't discuss my health issues, my financial matters, or any information that is personal with my employer. Legally, my employer does not have the right to know this information.
  10. I am doing great. I am down 30 pounds and two pant sizes. I am back into my old clothes from a year ago and hope to move past 220 by the end of December. I am on the mushie stage. I have great restriction as the doctor put 3ccs in my band during the surgery. I left a post for you on your LBT wall.
  11. Yes, connect with a support group in your area and perhaps it is time for a fill????
  12. Congrats and luck with your journey. It is very exciting. :-)
  13. My doctor did not place food restirctions on me. However, I am to eat protein first, stay away from carbonated drinks, and really limit my carbs. I love sushi, so I look forward to the day when I can eat it. Right now I am on the mushie stage.
  14. Yes, I have Blue Shield of California with Calpers, which is managed by Hills Physicians. After completing all the insurance requirements and Bariatric Center requirements I was approved within 24 hours. Below is a time line. January 08 met with PC doc and started the process. January 08 started supervised diet for 6-months. February 08 completed and passed the pysch eval August 08 insurance approved me to meet with the bariatric surgeon. Sept 08 completed bariatric center orientation, nutrition class, and pre-op class. October 08 met with bariatric surgeon. October 08 completed upper GI and H-pylori test October 15 bariatric surgeon submitts all documents to Blue Shield. October 16 Blue Shield approves surgery Ocober 26 complete all surgery pre-op tests November 11 surgery was done and band went on. Good luck.
  15. Because of HIPPA and the availabity of FMLA, you are not required to disclose your medical condition to your employer. Now of course you will explain to your employer that you have a medical condition that requires you to either be away from work for a period of time and/or time off for intermitten doctor appointments. As an example, I had my doctor complete my FMLA form confirming that I was under medical care and would need time off work. I submitted this form to my HR department. The form does not state what the issue is. I actually took vacation time for two weeks for the surgery. No one at work knows what I did other than I need time off for medical appointments and lab work. Likewise my family, coworkers and friends do not know what I did. I did however tell my sister in case something went wrong with the procedure so she could help my adult children if need be. I hope the information helps you.
  16. Today: 45 minute walk tread mill with incline of 3% at 1.5 miles. Plus upper body work out with light free weights.
  17. Hello Amy: Welcome to LBT. I was banded on 11/11/08 and I have no regrets. I did have a slight complication. During surgery my spleen began to bleed slightly. After surgery, I had to have my blood drawn every three hours to make sure blood cell count was at the proper level. Additionally, I had a difficult time with the pains meds while in the hospital. My one night stay turned into 2.5 days in the hospital. I was okay with that, because I really was not ready to go home. By day 7 post op I was doing GREAT! I started driving, shopping and doing light chores all on day 7. I went back to work on 11/24/08 and felt really GREAT. I was not tired, I felt energetic, and was in no pain. I am now working out on the treadmill at home and working out with very light free weights for my upper body. I am on the mushie phase of my post op diet. I have great restriction, because my doctor pre-filled me with 3ccs at time of surgery. Total weight loss pre-op diet and post op diet is 29 pounds. Good luck!
  18. How exciting. And what a wonderful way to start the New Year! Congrats.
  19. Wow! a 3 hour consult. Are you really going to talk to the therapist for 3-hours? Is that 3-hours all in one day? I spoke to my assigned therapist for about 30 minutes then I had to complete form with about 200 true/false questions, which took and an hour to complete.
  20. Get back on track. Keep your focus. You have worked way to hard to get to where you are now. Your lucky your doctor only gave you a 4 day pre-op diet. My preop was 14 days.
  21. Look for the largest incision and you will locate your port. My port was placed on my left sound above the bell button.
