  1. Here is a short answer, YES, get the fill.
  2. It took less than an hour and more than 30 minutes for me.
  3. I went back to my workout routine 14-days post op. I am on the tread mill twice a day now for 4.5 miles, plus every other day I am doing upper body workouts with free weights. I feel great!
  4. Very cool that you were both banded on the same day. Talk a bout a great support system. Congrats to you both.
  5. Wow, thank you for the post. You are an inspirationa nd you keep it real. Thank you!!!!!
  6. It was a quality of life moment for me. I knew I just could not continue to keep going on like this. I was laways very active as a teenager and twenty-something woman. Jogging every day and lfting weights, but then work, school, and family took up my time and my weight just kept going up. I could not jog. My right knew hurt. My ankles were sore. My thyroid went crazy. I was a mess. Then I looked at my mom and thought, if I do something now, I will be as unhealthy as she is now. I want to be active and healthy, so I made the decision. And I am so happy I am banded. 30-pounds down and I can walk and it does not hurt. My knee does not hurt and my ankles are not sore. I don't have back spasms any more. I feel so much better and look for to the New Year.
  7. Every morning when I get up, my band feels really tight. No pain involved, but I feel pressure and tightness. I do not eat first thing in the morning, because of it. I drink warm tea or coffee and head off to work. I then eat breakfast at work...by then I am not as tight.
  8. I am not sure, but I have Blue Shield of California and I started the 6-month supervised diet January 2008. I went once a month and the primary care doctor did not submit my information to the insurance company until August 2008, which to me is 8-months of supervised dieting.
  9. Hello Linda: Start walking a lot now to help with your surgery recovery. Start getting use to the liquid diet regiment, but substituting a meal with broth. And keep researching the procedure. Good luck!
  10. Hi Pcambrose and welcome to the forum. You will find a ton of information on thise site. Good luck with your journey and have fun exploring LBT.
  11. Today: 50 minutes on treadmill at 5% incline.
  12. I measure my food as well, but I stop eating when I am full. I really pay attention to signals and give myself time to eat. There are times that I have some left over food, which I measured.
  13. My port is about four inches from the belly button, but to my left side. It is below my waist. No were near the bra area. I cannot feel it...the scar does not bother me.
  14. I really didn't bring anything to the hospital other than the clothes on my back, cell phone, chapstick, ID card, and insurance card. I would just plan ahead for when you come home from the hospital. Mkae sure you have plenty of fluids, liquid tylenol, broth, sf popcycles... stuff like that. Good luck with your surgery.
  15. Very exciting. Congrats!
  16. Personally, I could not tolerate Protein shakes at post op. I was told to stay on Clear liquids for one week than full liquids for another week. Right now your body needs to heal, so the calorie consumption will be limited, because of internal band swelling. That is okay. It is important to get at least 1 0z of water/fluid every 15-minutes (according to my doc) during the first 1-week. So keep working on your Water intake.
  17. I have Blue Shield of California. They required a 6-month supervised diet. Either supervised by a nutritionist or doctor. I always went to the nutritionist, because it was free...no-co-pay and they were up on Saturdays. I had to go at least once a month. Anyway, she always gave me a copy of her template sheet, which documented my progress. The sheet included date, weight, the topic of discussion she gave provided, and my exercise. She also documented in struggles I had. Sometime my back spasms or catching the cold/flu would cause me to cut back on exercising. This was all documented. We always talked about nutrition and this was documented on her form. I hope this information helps.
  18. Awesome! You give us hope.
  19. I lost 10 pounds pre-op. And 20 post op. Was banded 11/11/08
  20. It could be the fill. How much did you eat the Xmas party with the new fill? Can you get water down? Is food staying down? I would call your doctor to get their opinion.
  21. Your doctor should have provided you a list of healthy food options and directions. And/or your nutrionist should have. Contact them and get their feedback. My doctor provided me a binder of information, plus I continue to see the nutrionist for support and suggestions.
  22. Yep, I am there too. This weekend I was hungry. I mean really hungry, so I had to keep myself distracted. My 4 week post op is 12/10/08, so I am to graduate to real food. The doctor will give me a fill before Christmas, but I would prefer to have it on 12/10/08.
  23. This happened to me as well. I was really happy I took two weeks off from work in-light of all the noises my stomach was making. I swear my neighbors probably heard it through the apartment walls. It went away during week 2 post op.
  24. Me too! Not by the book, but my doctor has a rule. Protein first and everyhting else there after. So basically it follows the some componets of the South Beach diet, in getting plenty of protein and low carbs.
  25. I lost 10 pounds pre-op and 20 pounds post op. Was banded 11/11/08. My first fill will be right before Christmas.
