  1. Why would anyone select a surgeon who places bands into clients only to have to do a reversal later? Makes you wonder if this doctor is qualified to insert a band.
  2. Amazing. Nothing like being told you can only half way succeed. Your stronger than that. You can move your weight down the scale as far as you want, because you will the band and lots of support to go with it. There are so many people on this site who are succeeding and you will be one of them. Don't let your doctor rain on your parade.
  3. I eat 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day with a fill. When I am not feeling my fill, I could eat 1,700 to 1,900 calories.
  4. Traveling all over the world and not worrying about the plane seat Swimming and sitting in the hot tub Froklickng in warm Caribbean Islands Hiking Horse back riding 5K Marathon
  5. Egg drop soup is my fav on a cold winter day. Yum!!!
  6. At the pre-op appointment they weighed me and took my vitals. Then I spoke to the doctor. The doctor gave me lab slips for an upper GI and a Hpy-lori test. That was it. Blood work happened weeks later.
  7. Surgery date BMI was 40 Today BMI is 36.6 I am newly banded, but I am very happy with my results thus far. I look forward to getting into the twenties for my BMI.
  8. I was afraid initially. I new about the band and the procedure. I did the research and then forgot about it. Then I went back to pursuing it and I have not regrets. I figured that if I did not have the procedure done that my health would get worse.
  9. I had this same issue a couple of weeks ago and I ended up having soup. The weather was really cold outside so the soup was perfect. Thus, no one in our lunch party questioned my decision to just have the soup.
  10. I am so sorry for your loss. Keep moving forward and give yourself the gift of health. Do this for you and do this for your family. Best wishes.
  11. Now that I am on regular solid foods, I can eat nor more than a cup.
  12. I feel my port if I touch my tummy in that area. My port is above the belly button, but to the far left of my stomach, way below my bra line. I am 5-weeks post op and do not have any port pain. Perhaps you should discuss further with your doctor.
  13. It does not sound like your doctor has the two procedures mixed up. It sound like his is just very conservative when it comes to Banding. You will find other examples listed on this forum of doctors who give fills every 8 weeks. Some do fills every 6 weeks and others do fills every 4-weeks. Some doctors instruct three meals a day with no Snacks while others tell patients to eat when they are hungry. Some doctors state 1/2 cup of food others 1 full cup. Really there is so many variances between each doctor. However, regarding the restriction and it being a myth. I have not heard that before. I feel restriction which helps diminish my hunger. As for pills, again every doctor is different. Some allows pills and some don't.
  14. Today: Rest day, back at it tomorrow.:blushing:
  15. Congrats! This is a great way to start off the New Year!
  16. I has surgery 11/11/08 and I felt great on day 7. I just got lots of rest and walked. Rest and walk was all it took for me to get better. Good luck!
  17. I pay a $15.00 co-payment for my fills via my insurance.
  18. Yuko. No I did not have to give myself an enemia, but I did have to take a the milk of magnesia, which was bad. After I drank this, I was told to stay on liquids only. No drinking after midnight. Surgery was first thing in the morning.
  19. Up on top of this web page, just below the the pictures is an obscure tool bar. On the tool bar click the search button. From there you enter the topic you want to search and you will see all the thread discussions pertaining to the topic you are interested in.
  20. Hi: I started getting really hungry on week three too! So I know what you are going through. I was eating solids, but I was not sated. I started snacking and could not get the hunger under control. I increased my workouts to burn the extra calories I was consuming. I did not gain, but was not losing weight either. On my four week check up with my doctor I shared my concerns that I could not wait until January 14 for a fill. (My doctor likes to do the first fill 6-weeks post op, but she is on Holiday break, so the soonest I could get a fill was 1/14/08.) Since I had been doing really well and my blood lab work looked great, she filled me during the 4-week post op visit. Thank goodness she did, other wise I would not be able to control my hunger. I have 4cc in a 10cc band and this fill has helped dimish my appetite. If I need another fill, I can have one during the January 14 doctor's appointment. January 21 is a long time to wait for a fill, especially since you are three weeks out. Bandster hell is no fun. Talk to your doctor and see if he/she would be willing to do a fill before January 21. It cannot hurt to ask.
  21. Wow talking about going to the polar opposite. It must be really frustrating for you and uncomfortable. Call your doctor and get a slight unfill. You should not be throwing up and you definitely need to be able to drink fluids. I am sorry to hear this is happening to you. Take care.
  22. I was allowed to drive one-week post op. I felt great and was commuting all over the place. By that time I was off all pain killers too.
  23. I was banded on 11/11/08 and have not drank any alcohol. I will have a glass of something to toast the New Year in! As far as what to expect when you wake up. The recovery nurse will ask if you are in pain and will give you pain meds if you are uncomfortable. They will ask you how you are doing and monitor your vital signs. Eventually, you will be sent to your room if you are staying over night. If staying over night, you can expect to start walking within a couple of hours. You will also have a barium swallow test to make sure you can take fluids in without any issues. If you are not spending the night, then you can expect to start walking, having your barium test, get dressed, and go home. Your doctor should have told you what to expect, if not call them and find out.
  24. I have lost 21 pounds post op. The only Protein drinks I can tolerate are the Isopure and the New whey Bullets. These are fruity and kind of remind me of kool aid without the sugar. I really did not start tracking calories until I started the regular food stage. At that point, I was eating anywhere from 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day. I use Sparkpeople.com to track my intake. I try very hard not to eat beyond 1,200 calories a day. It is easier for me to eat less, because of the fills. Besides tracking calories, I track my protein intake to make sure I am getting enough daily from regular food. If I am running low, then I will drink one Isopure or Bullet. Good luck to you!
