  1. Congrats on your weight loss. I love hearing from the long-term bandsters. You give us newbies hope.
  2. Bravo that you are still down 40 pounds, that is awesome. But don't give up. Is there a support group near by you???? This forum is great, but there is something about a personal support group where you actually are accountable in front of people, not behind the guise of a computer. Get another fill. I know you have a 4cc band, which is at 3cc, but you can still get more, so call the doctor. Whatever you do, please don't give up. You have come way to far now to give up.
  3. I don't have a wedding ring, but my rings are loose now and so is my watch.
  4. Good luck with the procedure and to a healthier new you!
  5. I have never heard of it before. I think it is really hard to get a balanced diet while on the liquid and mushie post op diet. I am trying though and what I cannot get nutritional wise via food in-take, I hope I can get from my vitamins.
  6. Wow, I didn't know they had liquid motrin. I never really looked for it. I use Liquid Tylenol and drink it really fast like it is a tequilla shooter.
  7. My doctor gave me the same talk regarding the complications, which I wanted to hear. I need to know everything, the good and the bad. How else can I make an informed decision unless, I know as much as possible. Additionally, we discussed the difference results between the two procedures. I did a lot of research and I don't mean reviewing the threads on this forum. I utlized the e-library at the university I attend and down loaded medical journal reports on gastric badning and the By-pass procedure. Together, my doctor and I decided that the band would be best for me. It is less evasive, slower weight loss, quicker recovery, and my portions would be less because of the fills.
  8. I was given two choices and had to select only one. Choice 1: three high Protein drinks, which were low carb Choice 2: two high Protein Drinks, which were low carb, plus one high protein meal low carb. If hungry, I was allowed two small fruit servings as a snack.
  9. Weight loss success so far 30 pounds and banded 11/11/08. 10 pounds pre op and 20 pounds post op. I feel great. Seminar: was a huge auditorium size room, which was completely packed with people. The doctor spoke, the nurse spoke, clients spoke, and administrative staff spoke. They allowed us to ask questions once they completed their presentation. They provided resource materials and told us what the process would be to have the surgery and what to expect after surgery.
  10. After surgery I could was on liquids for 14 days. So unger kicks in. Liquids only fills you up for so long. However, my doctor said I could have non fat sugar free plain yogurt, which filled me up. I am sure the reasons why I lost so much weight post op is because I work out on my treadmill every day, plus I also use light free weight 3x a week. 3ccs were placed in my band during surgery and I am on the mushie stage. While on the mushie stage, I feel less hungry than while I was on the liquid stage.
  11. Congrats on your approval to be banded. You will not regret your decision to make your life healthier. Good luck tomorrow!
  12. I cannot tolerate the protein shakes, so I drink the Isopure, which is clear like coolaid. It has low caebs abd has 40 gram of protein. I also like the New Whey Bullets, which are 3oz containers that have 42 grams of protein. The bullets are slimy but I like it. Many different flavors tatse good cold or room temperature. Both products fill me up and I buy them at GNC.
  13. I was told I could swallow my thyroid pill whole, but I had to take chewable vitamins. If needed, I could take liquid Tyleno for pain relief.
  14. Congrats Motivated. How exciting to be banded for the holidays. It is the best gift you can get. Good luck!
  15. This story is shocking and sad. I feel terrible for the family and now the holidays are here. I have no idea who the doctor is.
  16. Hello I heard great things about Dr. Machado too in Sacramento. However, she is not part of my insurance plan. I live in Stockton and went to the Alta Bates Bariatric Center in Oakland, which is a Center for Excellence. Doctor Kim is my doctor and she is great!
  17. Love the Isopure drinks at 40 grams protein. Many great flavors low carbs. You can get them at GNC.
  18. Well, I don't have any fluids near me when I am eating. Before, I would have a bottle water or if at a restraunt, I would have a glass of water. Not any more. I stay away from the fluids while eating.
  19. Very extreme, but it is your doctor's orders, so you will need to contact she/he to see if they are willing to modify the order.
  20. I was feeling great on day 7 post op. No pain, but was sore. Post op day 7, I was driving, shopping, and cleaning house. Lots of energy and felt great. You will get there too!
  21. Hello Wendy: My surgery was 11/11/08 and there were some little issues. My spleen started bleeding during the procedure, but they fix it. However, to monitor the situation they took blood samples about every three hours. I don't tolerate pain meds well, at least I did not with this surgery. I would get nauseated every time I would get pain meds placed into my IV. My one day stay in the hospital turned out to be 2.5 days. Recovery at home went well. I had gas pain, but I walked to help alleve it. I got plenty of sleep and kept fluids down. Plus, I was wearing an anti-nausea patch. By day 7 post op, I felt great and was driving, shopping, and cleaning the house. However, I was hungry. I took two weeks off from work and really enjoyed it. When I went back to work, I was energized and ready to go, no pain, and no soreness. I have a 10 cc Lap Band, which my doctor placed 3ccs at the time of surgery. I have great restriction right now. Pre-op I lost 10 pounds, post op I lost 20 pounds, total loss equates to 30 pounds. I am so happy I had this surgery. It is not easy, but I am seeing results. I am more energetic and I am down two pant sizes already. As far as what to watch for, just stick to what your doctor tells you and you will be okay. This will be the best gift you can get this holiday! Best of luck!
  22. Hi Ladybug: I was banded on 11/11/08 too! How is your exercising going? Are you making sure you get all your Protein in, which will fill up? Drink plenty of fluids too. My doctor does not fill until 6-weeks post op. But she did place 3cc in my band at the time of surgery. I have a 10cc band.
  23. Well, let me just say that if my rabbit died tomorrow, I would order it again and have it next day delivered. :tongue2:
  24. I love the Ispore drinks. They taste great and have many flavors. Great way to get your protein.
  25. I do not have shoulder pain any more and I was banded 11/1/08. My doctor will fill me 6-weeks post op if I need it. I have 3ccs in a 10cc band, because the doctor prefilled at the time of surgery.
