What if...? cheese?
To be honest, I have not given up any foods. I eat very small portions of the same foods I ate before the band. As an example, every now and then I will have a slice of sourdough bread toasted. It goes down without a problem. I eat sushi as well. I also eat veggies and fruit. Shocking I know, but it is a healthy diet that I want to consume. I am losing weight, have dropped 3 pants sizes, have great restriction, get over 90 grams of Protein in a day, and exercise 5X a week. With the band, I have never been stuck, never vomited, no slime, and no bps. I just eat so much less. I signed up for the band, because I was told you could eat the same foods as before, but just a whole lot less of them. Good luck!

Kinda Scared, lots of questions....
Well, I never smoked cigerates nor have I been drunk. But what comes to my mind is if your considering life-style changes then why approach it half way? Why not consider a health-style change and give up those unhealthy habits? Sure, it is easy for me to say, because I don't get drunk nor do I smoke, but why put your body through all that? Anyway, as far as normal. What I considered normal is what drove me to this surgery in the first place. I never want to go back to where I was before. Eating what I thought was normal. :-) If you decide to have the procedure, then approach it as a health-style change. You are the priority, so in that regards put your health first and move towards eliminating unhealthy habits. Good luck on your journey!

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
I agree. She can have as many kids and she can afford to support. I wanted to have 4 kids, but I could only afford to have two. I want a pony too, but I cannot afford the up-keep.

Questions before meeting the doctor
Your welcome.
-
Very curious!!!
The only way to confirm a stretched pouch is via your doctor. Call your doctor and discuss this with she/he. If you have recovered from the flu, then perhaps you just need a fill. Congrats on all your weight loss. Keep up the great work! Best regards!

Questions before meeting the doctor
Hi Kayla: Here are a few I asked my doctor. How many times have you performed this procedure? Has anyone that you performed this procedure on died do to complications during the surgery or shortly thereafter? How many band slips have occurred to patients that you have operated on? How many band erosion issues? How many patients had to have their bands removed, because of complications? What do you recommend is best for me? Do you actually perform the fills or does your nurse or PA? What is your policy on fills? Are you aggressive with fills or are you conservative with fills? There are many more questions, but other posters will provide those to you, I am sure. Good luck!

OMG Hold Me Back the Girl Scouts are Coming!
I know, I know, I can do this. After all, I survived Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve, and the Super Bowl with my new Band. But when I saw the billboard today that said, "The Girls Scout Cookies are Coming" it freaked me out. OMG, my favorites are coming back. You think I'm crazy don't you? But I love those darn cookies and they are only here once a year. It is going to take all my Band will power and the support of my LBT buddies to get me through this.

Protein Bullets 42 grams protein in 3 fl oz
Not sure if there has been a discussion here. I am sure there has, but really the only discussion that matters regarding protein intake is that which occurs between the WLS doctor or nutritionist and their patient.

Protein Bullets 42 grams protein in 3 fl oz
Ah slim-n-trim say it aint so!!!! Not sure why I like them, but my doctor and nurtitionists totally recommended them. They are the only liquid Protein that I can tolerate. It's crazy how different everyone is with the taste of the liquid protein.

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
So true! Who is going to admit to it???

solid foods
Debbie your post is so true! Your stomach is recovering from surgery. In my case, my doctor stiched the bad up to the stomach to avoid slips. So the sutures needed time to heal, but it would be hard for the sutures to heal while digestion of solid foods occurs. Thus, my doctor had me on two weeks of liquids post op. (Sorry you are on 4-weeks). Lyndi, every doctor is different with their instructions. It is really important to follow your doctor's instructions for proper healing. Call your doctor and let them know what is going on. If you should still be on liquids, then get back on liquids. I know it is hard, but you have come this far, so you can go the rest of the way! Good luck!

Frustrated...
Heather makes great points. You need to confirm the fluid is still in there. That you actually have 9cc in your band. The easiest way to confirm this is to take the old fill out and measure it. Your fill doctors can do this. (My doctor does this every time)

Telemetric Lap Band

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
I agree it is strange and wrong in so many ways. But did they really implant all 8. I heard they did not; that a couple of the implants split into two or three.

Will I adjust to these shakes?
Too funny!. Those of us who have been banded know how you feel, especially if we had to do the famous pre-op diet. You poor thing a whole month??? I never got use to shakes and never used them. They hurt my tummy. I asked my doctor to recommend other lquid Protein drinks and she recommended Isopure and NewWhey bullets. The NewWhey has 42 grams of protein and the Isopure has 40 grams. They are very filling. My doctor also allowed me to have one small meal for dinner high in protein. If you can keep your protein up really high it will help with hunger. Talk to your doctor about other types of Protein Drinks. Ask your doctor if they would be willing to allow one small protein meal with two protein drinks for your other meals. Every doctor has different instructions, so always do what your doctor instructs you to do, but it cannot hurt to ask him/her??? Good luck!

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
Her parents should have practiced tough love on her years ago. They are enablers. This woman needs therapy and some tough love along with a reality check. Even if her mom kicks her out of the house, you know someone from a local church will take her in. She will always have a support source as long as she has the famous Octuplets. It is just so sad and wrong for all her kids.

10 mo out..lost 60+ pounds but gained 20 back. HELP
Sorry, but I don't see how you are going to do well with the gastric by-pass when you are not following the Band Rules. All WLS have rules associated to them. If you are not doing well with the rules for one produre, then how will you do well with the rules of another procedure? You have the tools you need. Your doctor has confirmed there is nothing wrong with your band. You have confirmed that you are not following the rules. So come on, you have already done so well. It is no easy task to lose 63 pounds, but you did that. You know you can do it again. Try going to support groups, counseling, and exercising. There are so many people at LBT here to support you, so find a buddy and get the support you need. You have done it before and I know you can do it again!!! Good luck!
