  1. Today: 5% incline 50 minutes 2.62 miles. Plus, 30 minutes of upper bod weights. :rose:
  2. But do you think you need the full four weeks or more. I am not at goal BMI yet, but I considering PS. Not sure about the TT, but will do breast augmentation. Just wondering how the recovery time is. TT sounds so painful.:rose:
  3. How much time do you take off from work for this procedure?:rose:
  4. My first fill was 3cc on the day of surgery. And another 1 cc four weeks later.
  5. Really, are you sure Medicare does not cover any of the fills? Why insert a band and not provide some fills for a co-pay or reduced cost? I would call Medicare directly and confirm this to be true. If it is true, I would look some where else for my fills, because 1cc for $500 or $1K is just way too much!
  6. It does not bother me to read posts like this. People need to share their fears, concerns, and anger in a relatively safe environment. Sometimes people have no one else they can share with, so what better way to do that than here where no one knows you, unless you post your picture.:rose:
  7. Is what women only? The Wii game? Nope, because I was whipping the heck out of the boxer on the Wii game. Talk about taking out your aggression. :rose:
  8. I have only been banded for three months, but I know for me personally what my triggers are, which will cause me to screw up. 1. Lack of exercise and being in the mind set that I can stop exercising. 2. Not tracking calories, I gave to do this or I really distort the amount I consume. 3. Watching slider foods 4. Sticking with my after care and having my blood drawn monthly. It is a chore, but I need to do it. 5. Keeping the mind set that this is a long journey and an ever lasting commitment to myself to my health. 6. Not comparing myself to Jachut :-) (or to anyone else) 7. Keeping it real. Yep, I do screw up. It's true! But I don't let it consume and I just get back on track. I am forgiving of myself.
  9. So sorry to hear this. Focus on your recovery and the chemo treatments. I would recommend an unfill, but your doctor will advise you best.
  10. :rose: Very cool that your kids are getting some fun exercise in too! Awesome.:tongue2:
  11. Your doing great. Thank goodness you did not eat solid foods. You are sticking to liquids so job well done, as I know that is hard to do. Soup is a slider food. It slides down into the small pouch and empties into the larger stomach area. However, if you are chugging (sp) and drinking 6 cups straight through without breaks in between, you can risk stretching your small pouch and hurting your internal incisions. Call your doctor. Let them know your really hungry and the amount of soup you are consuming. They might allow you to start mushies early or let you have no-fat yogurt. It does not hurt to ask.
  12. Donna, I know you state that going to the doctor is not an option right now, but if there is anway you can scrape up the money to go then go. Your health is way to important and there could be issues going on that your doctor can assist you with. An unfill comes to mind right off the bat. Aftercare is so important with the band. Take care.
  13. Once a month we have a ladies night out. We went to one of the ladies house and she had a Wii. I never played the system before, but once I left her house I became a Wii addict. Yes, it is true, I was bowling and boxing. I never laughed so hard or worked up a sweat from the boxing game. Lots and lots of fun! I am now saving up for a Wii system.
  14. Great job on your weight loss! 3ccs is a lot for a first fill, how do you feel? Any restriction? Is water staying down?
  15. Patty greene when you comment "This is not True" to what carrie_c posted you are inferring she is a liar. I would choose my words more wisely when posting. This was an experience of carrie_c friend and to dismiss it as false is just a radical statement, one of many posted by you on this topic. I have no doubt your grandson is thriving and I am glad he is. But there are many preemies who have issues when they leave the hospital. Yes, a baby born early may leave the hospital as a full term baby, but many, not all, will have medical issues and developmental issues as well. Preemies that go home from the hospital do have higher instances of SIDS. The link below is a report by the CDC. You do not have to go very far within the report to read about low birth rates and death by SIDS, see page 2 and 3. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr55/nvsr55_14.pdf
  16. Every person has a unique personal experience with their band and fills. What works great for me might not be so great for someone else and vice-a-versa. As an example, my roommate at the hospital where I had the surgery have the same surgeon and were banded within hours of each other. Her aviator name is Lacasst and if you see her signature line it reflects she has had way less fills than I. Lacasst, had better restriction and was losing a lot more weight than I was, thus our doctor did not give her additional fills. I on the other hand, was losing weight, but was very hungry and was not satisfied with a meal for very long, so I would get more fills. Lacasst went home from the hospital the day after surgery, where I stayed for 2.5 days. So what I am trying to convey is that each person's fills are designed specifically for them based on their aftercare with their doctor. As far as the sweet spot, it is a matter of toying around to figure out what works. And keep in mind that there are some people who achieve the sweet spot, but then for some reason need a slight unfill because restriction becomes too tight. Sometimes, a fill that worked great for several months without a problem, might become a problem. Thus, the importance of aftercare.
  17. What an odd statement from the person who fills you. If you have a 10cc band you can have 10cc placed in it. But the goal is to provide you as much restriction as needed to encourage weight loss; an average of 1 to 2 pounds a week, with the least amount of fill. Your doctor will decide how much of a fill to give you at any one time. Fills are based on so many factors. As an example based upon my doctor, if I am losing weight at 1 to 2 pounds a week and I am not grazing/snacking and I am satisfied with a meal for 3 to 4 hours, she will not give me a fill. However, if I am hungry all the time, cannot stay satisfied with a meal, and I am gaining weight or just staying at my weight, then she will give me a fill. I have great restriction right now, but yeah I do get hungry. It is a hunger that is satisfied for at least 4 hours with small portions. But yeah, I am presuming everyone eventually gets hungry, but when restriction is achieved the hunger is satisfied with less food. If you get close to being completely filled with your band without achieving restriction or without weight loss, then there might be some issues occurring, such as fill leaking, band slippage, and/or a stretch pouch. These are issues you can discuss with your doctor. Good luck!
  18. Good luck on your journey!
  19. Slider food are items that you can chew up easily, swallow, and slide past the band. Some examples are: Cookies Candy Chips Milk shakes Mocha's Alcohol Soda Ice cream
  20. Been there and done that. I will not go back on diet pills again and believe you me, i have been on them all both RX by the doctor and over the counter.
  21. I just returned from the grocery store and there were several magazines at the check out stands with her picture and story on them. I wonder if this was her first story selling for dollars? I did not purchase any of the magazines, nor did I look inside. Maybe this is her way of earning the money she will need to support all the children she has. I also wonder if she is making anything off her web site???
  22. Today: 40-minutes of yoga and I am not really sure what I think of it yet, other than I have no flexibility at this point.
  23. Especially in-light of having a bad back, which causes her to draw disability.:scared2:
  24. Here you go. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/before-after-lap-band-surgery-pictures-only-4642/
  25. Today: 4 miles at 1% incline for 60 minutes. I swear tomorrow I am going to do yoga and upper body weights. Happy Valentines Day!
